Ashley Zaba
Contemporary and innovative Canadian fashion label Ashley Zaba is chic and stylish. The label has evolved since 2008 starting out with a focus on contemporary women’s wear with swimwear holding a strong piece of the brand but up until recent evaluations Ashley Zaba was finally sold on the idea to follow her heart and that heads straight to the closest water source! A passion for adventure travel and photography makes the perfect melting ground for a mixture of arrestingly unique prints, colours and cuts in Ashley Zaba swimwear that can be worn poolside or to that ocean destination. Ashley Zaba will be debuting her first full collection of swimwear on the runway at Austin Fashion Week for spring summer 2013. The collection has been described as youthful and edgy with a twist of old world charm. All designs are original with consideration paid to top quality fabrics. In an effort to produce sustainable sweat-shop free items, construction of each item is produced by Ashley Zaba. The line is currently available at Forsya Boutique and Gallery in Vancouver, BC and Annabelle in New York City as well as online internationally with plans for more store locations across the USA in the coming season.
Boston Fashion Week: Emerging Trends 2011 4th Annual Boston Fashion Week Event Recap Share on Tumblr

th
International flair is brought to Boston Fashion Week once again with the 4 annual Emerging Trends 2011 Runway Show. Another successful year showcased the global talent of designers from Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Iceland and more. A gathering of jewelry, shoe, men’s, and women’s collections from diverse cultural backgrounds not only makes this event interesting, but also lands Boston on the map for fashion in the United States. “Each designer participating in The Emerging Trends 2011 Runway Show was carefully chosen to represent a unique euro-chic style that strengthens the image of Boston as an important global fashion resource,” stated producer and CEO of the SYNERGY Events, Reaz Hoque. Here, we recap a few of our favorites from the show.
Ashley Zaba showed a bright, playful, and undeniably spring collection. The line, composed of swim and ready-to-wear, was right on trend with the bright colors and love affair with orange we saw on Spring 2012 designer runways. The swimwear featured graphic cutout one pieces and color blocked bikinis. We saw an assortment of separates including tanks and rompers in bold graphic prints, bright cigarette jeans, and a few neutral basics. A black, snakeskin jacket over a neutral shift dress with draping detail at sides was a favorite look. Beaded jewelry in the same bright hues along with sleek, topknot hair styling brought each look together into a cohesive collection. Modern and fun, we recommend outfitting in Ashley Zaba come spring if you’re in the mood to turn some heads. Courtesy of The Emerging Trends
Introducing Ashley Zaba, Canadian Fashion Designer There are so many great emerging fashion designers out there and I love that I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with some of them, including Ashley Zaba, a fashion designer based in Ontario, Canada. Visit her website at www.ashleyzaba.com to check out her other collections and follow her on Twitter @ashleyzaba.
I got a chance to collaborate with her, wearing this Queen of Mystery dress from one of her Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. It is A-line cut, with long bell sleeves, and material is made of spandex.
I love its color and originally I was going to wear it with red platforms and red accessories as mustard usually looks good with it. But my cousin Jamie Co suggested that I use her gorgeous colorful shoes so I agreed. I ended up changing my accessories as well! Thanks to my aunt for letting me use her gorgeous necklace and cuff bracelet!
In this picture, I was just trying to move my hair because the wind keeps blowing it to my face. But my cousin ended up capturing the moment, LOL, and I loved it! Plus the dress really popped up in grass green background!
The Queen of Mystery Ashley Zaba dress has below the knee length which is great for a more conservative and more demure look! It also has keyhole in the back for a sexy look if you have your hair in a bun.
Just a little view of South Beach! Gorgeous necklace courtesy of my Aunt! And another one from my aunt! LOL. And this very intricate and colorful bracelet was a gift from my other Aunt in Miami. Shoes courtesy of my cousin Jamie Co!
A little behind the scene‌my mom fixing the shoes!
I'm blessed to have wonderful people
constantly supporting me in what I do. Thanks to my cousin and my mom who made this shoot possible in South Beach! shareshare Posted on January 4, 2012 by Admin. This entry was posted in Fashion and tagged Ashley Zaba, Fashion Designer.
ASHLEY ZABA ISSUE 4: January 30 2012 By: Rochelle Cabas While many consider New York, Paris, London and Italy as the ultimate fashion destinations, Canada is quietly gaining ground. While we may not yet be in the same league as the big four, it is hard to deny the influx of new Canadian bred talent who are forcing industry insiders to stand up and take notice. Known as the hosting city for LG Fashion Week, Toronto is also the market of choice for most budding designers wanting to break into the industry. With such names as David Dixon, Jeremy Laing, Sunny Fong, Philip Sparks and Lucian Matis (just to name a few), Toronto is fast becoming the breeding ground for new talent. One such designer determined to make her mark, is local up-and-coming designer Ashley Zaba.
Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Ashley describes herself as having always been creative. She traces her beginnings back to her childhood. Her mother was an avid artist, what with painting, drawing and sewing skating or dance costumes for her children. Throughout her childhood and high school years, Ashley excelled in art and fashion. Her love of designing and sewing spurred her on to continue pursuing an education in Fashion Design, while at Fanshawe College.
Upon graduation, she then made a life-changing decision: she wanted to start her own business. Having never viewed herself as a 95, desk job type of person, Ashley says it was a natural progression when it came to starting her own business. She founded her contemporary and innovative clothing label Ashley Zaba in 2008. In addition to various fashion show appearances in Ontario, she has showcased at Ottawa and Boston Fashion Week as well as at the eMERGE tradeshow in Miami. The rest, as they say, is history.
Fashion Weekly recently sat down for a chat with Ashley to learn more about the creative mind behind the growing brand. When asked about her line, Ashley sums it up as contemporary, modern, colorful, bright, clean lines with a focus on natural fabrics. She goes on to describe the label as a mixture of the sophisticated styles of the past, along with her own personal flair. Her use of shapes and silhouettes in her swimwear and ready-to-wear garments, push the boundaries of what people want to wear‌ To continue reading, please visit http://fashweekly.com/fw-fashion-spread/ashley-zaba.

Blue Night Falls. Hello everyone. Time for Wardrobe Wednesday. I am wearing Blue night fall top and skirt - Courtesy Ashley Zaba Chain : Aldo (gift) as seen in Leopard Love (worn as earrings) Bracelet: Yebhi.com Heels : Catwalk (got during 50% sale for 799 Rs). Envelope Bag : crunchyfashion.com as seen in Leopard Love. Makeup :M.A.C/ Maybelline. (I am wearing Watershine pure Maybelline lipstick and Revlon shimmer gloss). Eyeliner - Maybelline color mix eye pencil (blue & green). Today I would like to introduce a very talented fashion designer - Ashley Zaba. Contemporary and innovative fashion label Ashley Zaba is stylish, chic, unique and colorful. Ashley Zaba label was founded in 2008. Since the conception Ashley Zaba has participated in various fashion shows in and around Ontario. Her label expanded to USA within a year of conception. I am extremely honored (must say very lucky as well) to introduce Ashley Zaba and her creations to India. I asked her few questions about her, her inspiration and how her label originated and evolved. This is what she had to say... 1. Your where do you get your inspiration from and how you interpret it to your lovely design? A lot of my inspirations come from countries or cities that I have travelled to, both literal or interpreted through books/tv/internet. The latest collection for spring summer 2012 was inspired from my travels at the start of 2011 to Colombia to visit a friend. I love the freedom travel gives you to go out of your confort zone and experience something new and thats what I want to convey through my designs. 2. In your earlier years, how did you decide that you eventually wanted to become a designer? My mother was very inspriating in my earlier years (and still is now!), she is an avid artist, with painting, drawing and when my sister I am were small she would sew our skating or dance costumes. Into my teens going through school I excelled in art and fashion and with my love of designing and sewing I went on to pursuing an education in Fashion Design, at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario 3. Who is your inspiration? I do not have one set inspiration, I feel everyday I am seeing something new and fresh that is pulling me in different ways. A fasination of mine right now are aerial country photos in this book my sister gave me called Earth from Above 365 Days by Yann Arthus-Bertrand 4. Does the preparation of a season's collection take time? The preparation of a collection does take time. I start with a concept board, similar to anything you see on polyvore or pinterest with all the photos/colour stories/fabrics anything at all really!! From there I search for fabrics and trims and anything else that will inspire my choices once I start sketching the designs. As soon as I have a clear direction in concept and textiles I will go into sketching lots of different designs until I can select my final edits. From there I will go into production, and because I am an emerging designer I sew all the samples for the various photoshoots as well as my sales rep. I would ideally love 4 months to work solely on the next season but I am always thinking ahead! 5. How do you intend women to feel when wearing Ashley Zaba labeled clothing? I would expect a women wearing Ashley Zaba would feel unique, modern, strong and wants to stand out in front of the crowd in the bright bold colours that are my aesthetic. 6. What do you have to say to the next generation, particularly for those hoping to follow in your footsteps? Advice for designers who are starting out: strength, determination and a good support system are key factors. It’s a gradual build, we all have to start out somewhere; I wouldn’t be here today without of the support of others. All the positive feedback and my clients make the struggle a lot easier and realistic. In this business you have to have the drive, I’m a big believer in that, you have to want this business; the limitations only make you want it more!! 7. One celebrity whom you would love to design an outfit. Michelle Williams - I am a big fan of her movies and she always seems to look edgy/quirky and elegant at the same time no matter what high/low designer she is wearing.

We pulled this one dress and played with a day and night look. In the day look, she uses a flirty and fun sun hat by Hat Attack, and used Buji Baja warm hued bracelets to add some color. For cute comfort and height we used MIA Shoes strappy black wedges and we topped off the look withBuji Baja’s floral scarf. ashley zaba I've always been a believer in the simple black dress, and the fact that you can never have too many.A few days ago, I received an Ashley Zaba dress in the mail from the lovely Paige ofParker+Paige! If you haven't heard of them, they're a fashion company supporting the works of emerging designers. After obsessively stalking their site, I can guarantee you-these designers have got it going on. What first caught my eye on this dress was the cut. It features a classic sweetheart neckline with a unique torso that drapes nicely. Its kind of a mix match of classic and edgy-which is something I've always been drawn to. I also love how I can dress it down too. It doesn't have to be a cocktail dress; I love that I can throw on a sweater and still look put together. Seven Strapless Sweetheart Dress c/o Parker+Paige
Overall, I'm sure it's safe to say: you're probably going to be seeing a lot more of this dress in the future. It's just too darn cute. Be sure to check Parker+Paige out! They feature some of the most talented designers I've ever seen for awhileincluding previous designers from Project Runway! Let the online shopping begin: NOW. -kim

We love this fabulous daytime look – great for lunch with the girls or shopping. This look is inspired 1970s chic with a modern twist. We turned Ashley Zaba's Casa Dress into a top for this look and paired it with a great pair of tweed shorts. The accessories make a bold statement with a "look at me" attitude.
