PAUSE AND RELAX

TU PLAY PARK, THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY This redesign project attempts to improve the landscape in front of the gymnasiums 4,5, and 6 in Thammasat University, Rangsit campus. The project, per se, has taken the concept of conservation and development of the university into my consideration when redesigning, with an intention to enhance its liveability, and achieve its sustainable development. In spite of the uniqueness , beauty, amd attractiveness of the park, an absence of connections between interior and exterior landscapes has brought about problematic issues. Subsequently, the park has attracted very few visitors. In this respect, the “pause and relax” concept has been initiated and applied when redesigning to motivate and attract those who wish to participate in sports and physical activities, subsequently can help reduce overcrowding of students in certain areas within the university. Based on the concept “PAUSE AND RELAX”, walking and running tracks as well as delay points or view points have been designed to offer the chance to those wishing to experience the park, enjoying the scenic view of the park or a wide range of activities.

LEARNING NETWORK OF THE OLD RATTANAKOSIN TOWN

FROM THE FRONT PALACE TO UNIVERSITY FOR PEOPLE, THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY The Front Palace is a significant national heritage area where score of overlapped historical had been witnessed throughout various the then historical periods. This historical area is conservation worthy for the purpose of stimulating an awareness of its historical significance and original value. In addition, this area should be developed in conformity with going on urban development practice that aims at developing suc harea into conservation area and historical tourism site. Thus, to enable this particular area to function as a node to other contemporary historical sites located in the Old Rattanakosin Island. In this connection, we have designated Thammasat university area to serve as a node for learning history of the Front Palace whilst the regular academic instruction of the first four faculties of the university still continues on open university basis.
