To encourage and perpetuate the continued use of the Hawaiian language in the community, and to complete the work begun by the original translators and their Hawaiian contemporaries, the Hawaiian Bible Project has again partnered with Kamehameha Schools and the Atherton Family Foundation to produce a full bilingual Hawaiian-English Bible. Public trust in elected officials continues to be abysmal across the board, from Democrats to Republicans on both the state and federal level. With only 34.8 percent of the state’s eligible voters casting their vote in the 2016 primary election, Hawai‘i ranked last in the nation for voter turnout—setting a new record low. In an effort to restore the public’s interest and faith in its political leaders, Pono Policy Academy (PPA) is a nonpartisan educational effort aimed at informing and training the public about the legislative process.
