Marie Yukari: Writing Without Fear by Jason Collins Photos by Mary Alice Wright
Writing is not a language but a form of technology that developed as tools developed with human society. Within a language system, writing relies on many of the same structures as speech, such as vocabulary, grammar and semantics, with the added dependency of a system of signs or symbols.
The result of writing is generally called text, and the recipient of text is called a reader. Motivations for writing include publication, storytelling, correspondence and diary. Writing has been instrumental in keeping history, maintaining culture, dissemination of knowledge through the media and the formation of legal systems. As human societies emerged, the development of writing was driven by pragmatic exigencies such as exchanging information & maintaining accounts.

It is important that partners develop complementary business skills so each of them has demarcated responsibilities. A literary magazine is a periodical devoted to literature in a broad sense. Literary magazines usually publish short stories, poetry and essays along with literary criticism, book reviews, biographical profiles of authors, interviews and letters. Little magazines or "small magazines", are literary magazines that publish experimental writings of relatively unknown writers. They are usually noncommercial in their outlook and are often very irregular in their publication.
In publishing, to perform or display a work publicly means to perform or display it at a place open to the public or at any place where a substantial number of persons outside of a normal circle of a family and its social acquaintances is gathered. It also means to communicate a performance or display of the work to a place or to the public, by means of any device or process, whether the members of the public capable of receiving the performance or display receive it in the same place.
“
In the United States, publication is defined as the distribution of copies or phonorecords of a work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending. The offering to distribute copies or phonorecords to a group of persons for purposes of further distribution, public performance, or public display, constitutes publication. A performance in public or display of a work does not of itself constitute publication.
