There is an essential difference between a good teacher and a great teacher. A good teacher effectively teaches the curriculum, but a great teacher does more than that. A great teacher cares about their students and truly wants them to succeed. I was lucky enough to have a great teacher, Ms. Byrd, who truly cared about my future and wanted to help me achieve my goals. Countless times I would come to Ms. Byrd with my issues, and she would guide me through them, and make the big problems seem

I chose Mrs. Baxter-Swindle as my Distinguished Educator because she is an astounding teacher who cares and understands her students. She has been influential in my life because not only does she teach her curriculum efficiently to make sure her students are successful, she is also very compassionate, humorous, understanding, warm-hearted, thoughtful, and cares truly for all her students. Furthermore, Mrs. Baxter has greatly impacted my senior year. She has taught me to put my well-being and mental health first and has given helpful advice for challenges I have faced this year. I am going to miss our morning conversations we have at the beginning of third period and the jokes we make during class. She taught me how to accept criticism and use it to enhance every aspect of my life. Mrs. Kinsey had faith in me before I had faith in myself. Throughout the last two years of my time in high school, Mrs. Melton has been such a motivating and caring teacher: she truly works hard to ensure her students’ educational needs are fulfilled to strive for success. Victoria Ellis DISTINGUISHED EDUCATOR
Pasadena Memorial High School
- AP World History and History Through Films and Advanced Women’s Study s
Without the teachings from Mrs. Victoria Ellis, my career choice would be undecided. Sitting in her AP World History classroom, Mrs. Ellis lectured about everything from the Knights and Lords of the Middle Ages to the Industrial Revolution. All this had me completely captivated, and I was hooked. History became more than just an old dusty textbook sitting on a shelf, but a breathing relic that must be cherished and learned for the betterment of our future. I knew, in the middle of that classroom, I would be a historian. And I have no one to thank but Mrs. Ellis.

Taking Mr. Wilson’s class has undoubtedly been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. Each day, I eagerly anticipate the start of his class, and as time passes by, I find myself wishing it could last longer. What makes his class so special is not just the subject matter, but the unwavering support and encouragement he provides to his students. His inspiring words during a tough semester, “whatever is happening will pass, you can do this, everything will turn out fine,” remain etched in my heart.
