I chose Mr. Potter as my most influential educator because if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have gotten the courage to take AP courses. When I first met Mr. Potter, I was taking on level English 1. My teacher, at the time, read an essay I wrote in class and showed Mr. Potter. He then asked me to be in his Pre-AP class. Ever since that day, he’s been supporting me throughout my journey in AP courses, especially AP English Language and AP English Literature. Without his help, I wouldn’t have been as successful.

I chose Mr. Hensley as my most influential educator because he has helped me advance in my musical career. Before he became the new director for the Trojan Orchestra at South Houston High School, I had lost my passion for playing the double bass due to COVID-19. However, once school began, he taught me how to master the skills that a musician requires, which aided me in earning a spot in the Region 19 Symphony Orchestra. He has educated me over important life lessons, which has contributed to my success as a musician and as a person. Most importantly, he assisted me in gaining my passion for music once again. Hence, I am honored to have him represent who I have become.

I took his encouragement to heart as I left my shell, became more social, and worked diligently throughout high school.
