ONE HUNDRED YEARS LATER Archivist and Continuity Girl September 2013-December 2013 Desarrollo / Investigación Septiembre 2013 - Diciembre 2013 A 50 minute documentary about the Indian soldiers in WWI directed by Vijay Singh. Although the conflict involved the French and the Germans, many foreign armies were summoned to help the Allies – until this day, very few of us are aware of the Indian Army’s human contribution. One Hundred years later retraces the odyssey of the Indian Soldiers, their journey to Europe, their ordeal on the battlefield and trenches, but also the unexpected relationships developed between the French locals and these special soldiers. Producers : Silhouette Films and CINETEVE As assistant to the director during the development phase of the documentary, my tasks were mainly researching and classifying archives* of different formats (video, photos, illustrations, letters and so on), translating the documents (English/French) and working as Location scout in Belgium.

PARENTESIS Co-founder, Manager and Artistic Director from May 2011 to July 2012 Co-fundadora, Directora y Directora Artistica de Mayo, 2011, a Julio, 2012 I moved to Porto in January 2011, at the time, the city was gaining popularity on the tourist circuit, offering cheap and authentic attractions, Porto was slowly becoming the new destination in the South. This excitement however wasn’t in tune with the financial crisis going on at the time. Parentesis started as a personal investigation of the city. As a foreigner I was amazed by the derelict appearance Porto had (indeed, 60 % of it’s city center is abandoned). After meeting José Brochado, a local storyteller, it occured to me that the potential of an alternative tourist guide company, loyal to the city’s personality was rich in possibilities. Parentesis was born. Based on a gift economy model, we offered daily tours on request. Thanks to an online marketing campaign, with facebook and tripadvisor, the project grew wings. Parentesis also developed partnerships with portuense restaurants and hotels but also local artists and activists. More than a tourist company, Parentesis tried to show the unseen and tell the untold, thus developing a more authentic and socially responsible way to visit the city. The team also worked on archiving the events in the city, videos, photos as well as audio recordings were made in collaboration with Radio Manobras, in order to document but also to advertise the tour.

ASSISTANT ART SHOWS Artist assistant August 2011 Artista Asistente Agosto 2011 Paul Bloas is a French artist known for his giant paintings, that he inserts into urban landscapes across the globe (Madagascar, Berlin, Budapest, Paris …). On his trip to Portugal, he started installing his “giants” in different areas of Lisbon, I invited him to intervene in Porto, believing it would be an interesting environment for his work. I mapped out locations that would interest him and helped him put his paintings up.

ARTISAN DE LUXE Assistant Designer from January 2013 to June 2013 Designer Asistente de Enero, 2013, a Junio, 2013 After 3 years in Portugal, I felt the need to leave Europe for a while. I left for Los Angeles, initially for holydays, there I met the designer Phillipe Naouri, founder of Artisan. Having studied the arts and crafts of sewing to a graduate level, I started working with Artisan head designer ; shopping for trends, designing samples, and shipping them off for production overseas (China and Mexico). Soon enough, I was sent to Mexico, to work on the sample development and quality control of the brand’s Fall/winter collection in the Puebla factory. Coming from a hand on, craft based education, where every garment is unique dealing with the mass-production of manufactured “vintage” looking clothes required a high sense of organization and multitasking. I worked essentially on the jean washes, validating the samples and keeping the development schedule up to date.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
ART RESIDENCIES After a degree in the arts and crafts of sewing, I decided I needed time and space to develop my own language as an artist. I believe I was lucky enough to experience different types of art organizations, location and management procedures being a constant variation. Portugal was an interesting playground where I encountered structures that managed to turn the odds of a poor economy into an argument for art’s presence in the city. Casa Amarela, Porto January 2011- August 2011. The second residency was a pilot project in Porto’s city center. With a high number of abandoned buildings, private parties decided to give working space and accommodation to artists in exchange of an open studio system. This setting required a stronger social awareness and involvement on the artist’s behalf , the house being a place where art was at the reach of whoever reached the door. This background nurtured the creation of (Parentesis) , originaly a visual investigation into the city’s scenery before becoming a business
Thermoelectrica do Freixo Summer 2012 It was a what I call a wild residency, since the relationship with the space was less framed and the eye of the public absent. The work developed there was closer to a calm but spontaneous meditation of narratives. This project developed around a sense of secrecy, closer to cave painting than street art.
