Delray Beach
, Florida, the hidden gem of Palm Beach County, has been named the Most Fun Small Town in the USA by Rand McNally, USA Today and the Travel Channel. Let us show you why. Delray is a beach town, but the beach is just the beginning. Delray Beach is known for its culinary vibe, its walkable downtown and its thriving arts districts. We’re a town that likes to have a good time, with a year-round calendar of events, concerts and art shows. Delray is also big on sports. Hometown tennis sensation Coco Gauff, who made history when she defeated Venus Williams at age 15 during Wimbledon 2019, has been known to play at our international Tennis Center, home of the annual ATP tennis tournament, the Delray Beach Open. Some people describe Delray Beach as ‘Key West Meets Manhattan’ but with a hometown feel all its own. Our mom-and-pop shops and galleries showcasing local artists coexist with a buzzing restaurant and nightlife scene catering to any and all taste buds and dietary needs. Want to know more? Drop by our Visitors Centers.

The Arts
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
Delray Beach
may be a small town, but it places a huge emphasis on arts and culture, from downtown’s vibrant murals and eclectic galleries to live music and locally produced theatre.
Old School Square
The renaissance of Delray Beach was built upon the redevelopment of Old School Square, an arts and entertainment center in the heart of the town. Old School Square encompasses the Crest Theatre and the Cornell Art Museum as well as the Fieldhouse Vintage Gymnasium and the Outdoor Pavilion, which welcomes concerts and shows all year long. Old School Square also operates the Creative Arts School. 51 N. Swinton Ave., 561-243-7922, oldschoolsquare.org
Crest Theatre
Patrons of the Crest Theatre can enjoy performances at the restored 1925 auditorium. Old School Square presents a Broadway Cabaret series, a live music series, and the Palm Beach Poetry Festival.
Cornell Art Museum
The Cornell Art Museum is housed in the 1913 Delray Elementary School building on the Old School Square campus, and strives to show nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists. The museum completed a $1 million interior renovation in November 2017, opening up the galleries and creating a more contemporary space, while keeping the charm of the 1913 schoolhouse.
Recurring Events @ Old School Square
During Season (November-April), Old School Square produces the Free Friday Night Concert series at the Pavilion. On select weekends you will find Art on the Square, an outdoor juried art show set up in front of the Cornell Art Museum.
Delray Beach Playhouse
The Delray Beach Playhouse is a hidden gem on Lake Ida, nestled in the family neighborhood that bears the same name. The Playhouse features plays, musicals, comedians and a Nostalgia concert series. 950 N.W. Ninth St. 561-272-1282 | delraybeachplayhouse.com DelrayBeach.com

Pineapple Grove Arts District If you want to know where the locals go, you’ll find them in Pineapple Grove. The Grove is home to Arts Garage and Arts Warehouse (more about them below) but also features outdoor sculptures and murals starting with the Dancing Pineapples at the corner of Atlantic and Northeast Second avenues, all the way down to the colorful walls of Bedner’s Farmers Market. Nearly all the arts and culture organizations and galleries are open for the First Friday Art Walk each month.
Arts Garage
Arts Garage’s mission is ‘connecting our community to the world, through the arts.’ It accomplishes this mission through music, events, exhibitions and classes. Arts Garage brings local, emerging artists as well as established global performers to Delray Beach.
94 N.E. Second Ave. 561-450-6357 | artsgarage.org
Arts Warehouse
Arts Warehouse is an arts incubator space for artist residencies, education, talks, community-based arts projects and exhibitions. History and Culture
Dating to the late 19th century, Delray Beach’s rich and multicultural history includes an early African-American community, enterprising Japanese settlers and a seasonal artists’ colony—all of whose influences still color the city’s landscape today. 20

Delray Beach Historical Society The Delray Beach Historical Society’s mission is to collect, preserve and celebrate Delray Beach’s rich history and cultural heritage. A one-acre campus, three historic cottages, a native Florida Heritage Garden and the City Archive provide exciting year-round programming, free research, history exhibits and beautiful events. 3 N.E. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens With its unique gardens and collections, the Morikami is one of Palm Beach County’s most treasured cultural attractions. Located in a tranquil natural setting, the Morikami invites visitors to explore its many facets and discover Florida’s heritage and its connection with Japan. 4000 Morikami Park Road 561-495-0233 morikami.org
West Atlantic Delray’s longest-standing residential and business community, West Atlantic is home to the town’s first church, as well as the Spady Museum, one of the few museums in Florida dedicated to Black history and culture. The area is also home to the Delray Beach Tennis Center, which hosts the Delray Beach Open and other major tournaments in which local tennis sensation Coco Gauff has been known to make a racquet.
Spady Museum The Spady Museum’s collections showcase the historical influence and cultural relevance of African-, Caribbean- and Haitian-Americans upon Florida and the southeastern U.S. The Spady Museum also produces the Ride & Remember Trolley Tour, Juneteenth Celebration and Spady Living Heritage Festival. 170 N.W. Delray Beach Historic Districts
Located along the original north-south axis of town, this district is comprised of 15 blocks with 176 structures, of which 101 are contributing historic buildings. Named after its focal point, the bustling Old School Square arts complex, this district is located in the town’s geographic center.
Nassau Park Historic District
Seventeen Cape Cod Colonial Revival cottages make up this neighborhood, Delray Beach’s first locally designated historic district, spanning two blocks along Nassau Street from South Ocean Boulevard to Venetian Drive. The district recalls the prosperity, pleasure and style that was the essence of 1930s resort life in the city, evoking a time when the winter colony of Delray Beach relaxed in discreet small-scale cottages surrounded by natural beauty.
Del-Ida Park Historic District
The district consists of 58 acres containing 151 structures. One of Delray’s first planned developments, Del-Ida helped start the trend toward Mediterranean Revival architecture that persisted through the 1930s. Frederick Henry Link, a craftsman at the company owned by famed architect Addison Mizner, served as Del-Ida’s general contractor, and his daughter, Catherine Strong Link, would go on to serve as Delray Beach’s first female mayor.

mains embedded in the DNA of Delray Beach. These five walkable and visitor-friendly districts offer carefully preserved snapshots dating back to the town’s pioneer families, reflecting Delray’s heritage in unique ways.
Marina Historic District
Located along the Intracoastal Waterway south of Atlantic Avenue and built around the town’s City Marina, the district has 96 buildings, 51 of which are of historic note in a variety of architectural styles. Primarily developed between 1922 and 1943, the Marina Historic District includes a cottage designed by Addison Mizner, whose flavorful style came to define Palm Beach County architecture. The historic buildings blend with distinctive shaded roads and subtropical landscapes.
West Settlers Historic District
The West Settlers Historic District is associated with the pioneering African-American families who helped found and settle the city, at a time when Northwest Fifth Avenue was the hub of business and social life. The building at the northwest corner of Northwest First Street and Northwest Fifth Avenue was known as “The Fountainette” and contained a soda fountain, doctors’ offices and a pharmacy. A school, three churches and a Masonic lodge were all established within the West Settlers Historic District between 1895 and 1920, and the former residence of Delray’s most prominent Black educator and community leader, Solomon D. Spady, is located in this district. DelrayBeach.com

If this sounds like you, there are plenty of options to make Delray Beach
your full-time or part-time home. Many of our neighbors live here seasonally and opt for second homes or long-term rentals. Delray Beach also has a thriving year-round community of families, business owners and entrepreneurs. Our local real estate market is booming and has been for some time now—encompassing everything from amenity-filled gated communities and modestly priced suburban homes to beachfront bungalows and downtown apartments steps away from dining and nightlife. It’s probably best to get in sooner rather than later!
