Continuing its mission to promote inclusivity in sports, the African American Golfers Hall of Fame (AAGHOF) hosted its 17th annual celebration in the spring of 2022. The Palm Beaches’ only hall of fame that recognizes organizations and individuals on a national level, the Riviera Beach-based AAGHOF honors outstanding contributions to the sport of golf from a historically under-represented demographic.
The four-day event included educational roundtables, a golf tournament at The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach, a fish fry and the annual induction ceremony. Among the 2022 inductees Phyllis Gillespie, Esq.; David Hicks Hinton, III; Thomas Griffis, Sr.; Joseph P. Steranka; Kendall Murphy, PGA; Angela Moody; Stanley V. Campbell; Driving Force Women’s Golf Club + Cindy Green Ashley; Lucius Bateman; Kevin Hall, PGA; Kevin L. Jennings, Sr.; and Malcolm Kirven.
In addition to garnering national exposure and acknowledgements for Palm Beach County in the broader world of professional athletics, the AAGHOF serves as a beacon for inclusiveness in sports and furthers diversity within the great game of golf.
The African American Golfers Hall of Fame generally hosts its annual awards celebration each May.
