2016 Piuma world

Piuma world Piuma world is specialized in design and production of speciďŹ c equipment and technology for entertainment industry: cinema, television, sports and multimedia.

Business problem While delivering high quality of cinema, Piuma found it hard to improve on eďŹƒciency and reduce time spent on projects.

Solution - We designed a delightful user experience, that took into account various user stories after observing and interviewing the cameramen. - The experience serves the requirement to be exible and improvisable at all times. - A digital solution to control, calibrate, monitor and program their dolly camera system.

PIUMA The Dolly 1 On the right is the picture of the dolly and the head. The whole setup included the Dolly, the Head and the Camera. The dolly has two movements, one along the track and another vertically along the column. Head has three types of movements - pan, tilt and roll The Camera has three functions, which are Focus, Iris and Zoom

PIUMA Sketches Automatic

2 We sketched out wireframes and screen ows and tested it to every user story we came up with.

Manual

We reviewed and itererated over and over before we reached the ďŹ nal sketches that are shown here. We divided the experience mainly into two modes - Manual & Automatic, and both are allowed to interfere.

The secondary navigation at the bottom allowed to control all movements

PIUMA High Fidelity Screens 3 Shown here are the Automatic and Manual modes. The Automatic mode allows the user to interact with the graph and set points of positions. Dierent movements can be recorded as programs. Each program can be improvised while being played. The Manual section allows the user to control, set markers and calibrate each movement.

PIUMA Implementation

5 The dashboard shows all the movements of the dolly, which includes precise values and percentages. Shown here is the implementation of digital solution into the dolly control unit

Thinknx

Thinknx Pulsar Eng is a company of engineers and technicians specialising in automation ranging from homes to industrial plants like wind turbines, biogas, etc. They are known for their versatility and exibility of their KNX servers.

Business problem Technically strong and robust but low reach and adoption by their Users.

Solution Pulsar needed user-centered design orientation for their products I designed the digital experience in their products for their customers, namely the System Integrators and End Users. - Usability testing of conďŹ gurator, end user interface and website - Reorganisation of information architecture - Establishing Navigation experience - DeďŹ ning new interactions

Server

Pulsar Eng Pulsar Eng makes Thinknx servers (hardware) which are capable of automation. Along with it comes a software (Thinknx configurator) which allows the buyer to configure the server according to his/her needs. In the market, the System integrator’s selection of an automation server does not only depend upon the quality but also the ease with which it can be configured.

Configurator

- Techincally sound people - Look for ease of configuring - They interact with their customers who are End Users - Ex., an individual like an Electrician in a large company - People who configure with a laptop due to the need to travel and test in client location

- This User could be anyone, A broad audience is accounted for but according to Market analysis of buyers, most users age range 40 upwards - Audience used to touch interfaces and interactions - This user depends on system Integrators for an automation solution

Thinknx Configurator 2 While setting up a project for a client, the system integrator has two roles to play, - To setup the UI for the clients - To program this UI with the backend of the system. Therefore this Configurator is designed to give an ease of drag and drop experience with a floating tool box for setting up the interface, as well as a structured and trackable navigation for configuring the backend.

Projects are divided by functions Each funtion has its elements

Thinknx End User Experience 4 This is the experience of the End User after the components are exported out of the conďŹ gurator. A simple and clear interface with easy navigation. Shown here are is the Dashboard and Lighting control

Thinknx End User Experience 5 The navigation of the Heating control around the ďŹ rst oor and direct control of the thermostat

Thinknx Web 6 A website for two audiences, One - the Clients who would want to know what Thinknx is about and Two - System integrators. Shown here is the home page which takes you through what Thinknx is and what it is capable of. For the integrators, the Tech guide takes you to the technical aspects of the knx servers which is available in the ďŹ rst level of navigation.

Megration

Megration A handholding system that caters to immigrants of different backgrounds depending on the facilities they have. It prepares the users beforehand of the formalities and notifies them of helpful tips to get through the tiring processes. Also inclusive of a social element which brings a sense of belonging in a community of users who need help and offer help.

MEGRATI N

Business problem Immigration problems concerning documents, appointments, schedules, language and bureaucracy associated are causing delays and frustration to the people to the country they are moving into.

Solution - System which has digital and analogue solutions. - Custom profile creation in the digital interface allows users to have customised schedules and milestone system with a social interface integrated with the application. - Analogue solutions for users who do not have the luxury of the smartphone, by making available broadly categorized kits in popular dispensaries like the supermarket, drugstores, bars and restaurants which are free of cost. - Social element here is the connection between users who need help, to users who have already been through the processes.

Megration Overview 1 Our first project in Domus Academy. This is the digital process of Megration.

Milestones Milestone previews includings possible time and difficulty Colors and size identify the kind of milestone.

Megration Profiling process 2 This shows the proďŹ ling process of the user to enhance and speciďŹ cally target information delivery and experience.

Megration Task Milestone process 3 Once you are done proďŹ ling, the system arranges an itinerary. The Itinerary consists of milestones which have an embeded social feature that helps the user in a personal and human level.

Megration Scalability 4 Megration does not end there. Once you are done migrating, you can set new goals like the one shown here.

Megration Analogue Support 5 This is the analogue solution of Megration. These are Pamphlets that will be available at bars and supermarkets. These pamphlets have space for written data that can be collected for pointing out directions associated with a certain milestone. Also available is helpline that connect these users to accomplished users.

Newshunt

Newshunt Ebooks Newhunt’s expansion ebooks is an mobile portal that provides ebooks over an array of eleven vernacular Indian languages.

Business problem Great works of literature produced in many languages in India are losing their physical presence, loss of heritage and decreasing popularity among readers.

Solution - Converting these works into digitally readable content and making them available online - Ebook mobile portal where books grouped under various genres over eleven vernacular languages are available for consumption. - Explicit navigation (Search, Explore &Read) - Minimal content per view so that user can focus. - Homepage has user engaging content like “Top free”, “Best selling” , “less than Rs.100/-” and “Best of writers” - Staff picks which contain free books for the user to get started. - Stack based navigation. - Information architecture in a way user sees other books while he explores categories just like in a actual bookstore. - Visual design - blue to represent action items and grey to get the bookcovers to stand out.

Newshunt Ebooks 1 We used analogy of that with a bookstore to build interaction with the user. Here you see the navigation from Home to Language selection and the Library page.

Newshunt Ebooks 2 We personlised the concept of owning books more visual by adding many features, like having bookmark peeping out for the user to recognise a collector’s appeal.

Newshunt Ebooks 3 The searching of a book is through scrolling a list view of related content. The list shows three books per screen to engage users. The details of the book contain the overview and a social element of community opinion of the book.

iStream Navigation 2 One of the most enjoyable moments in this project was the work on navigation. To engage the audience with a well mapped, visual main header. Here are two levels of navigation, where the second level is the result of a hover interaction on the ďŹ rst level(News, TV, Movies and Sports)

iStream Preferences 3 On the right are the wireframes that were yet to be developed. Sadly they never came to life. This was the User personalisation experience where favourite genres and channels could be preferred. The User would get the preferred content pushed forward on his\her dashboard.

iStream Experience 4 We wanted to keep the experience simple as possible focusing more on showcasing visuals of the content
