ARCHITECT/

MASTER IN COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN

T 347-339-9391 W w w w.pgch.es E info@pgch.es

I am currently working at James Carpenter Design Associates in New York City, having been awarded the Argo Global Grant promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Education. I am finishing my period at JCDA on June 15th. Nevertheless I am a J1 Visa holder till March 2013. At the beginning of 2010 I got fully qualified in Architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, where I got a Distinction in Design for my project Cultural Centre Tower in Tetuán. I also completed a Master’s Degree in Computer Graphic Design as related to architecture, design and multimedia presentations that has broadened my 3D modeling skills as part of the design and documentation process. My architecture experience has been enriched from a variety of academic design tutors, both in Madrid and Paris, where I studied architecture at L’École d’Architecture à Paris Belleville for a year, awarded with an Erasmus scholarship; and from the variety of design methodologies within the offices I’ve worked in, in Madrid, London and New York. In London I completed a year’s employment at CRABstudio and four months’ full-time employment at Aedas Ltd, having worked on a numerous range of projects that ranged from large scale public schemes to villa extensions. Have worked with Professor Sir Peter Cook at CRABstudio was an invaluable architecture experience as was the responsibility of running the international practice’s projects and taking the role of Studio Manager. In Madrid I worked as Junior Architect at the Herzog & de Meuron satellite office on the new Madrid BBVA headquarters. Working on such a big project I’ve gained experience on a wide range of activities related to the architectural profession, as well as a global idea of a project’s development. In New York at James Carpenter Design Associates I am broadening my architectural horizons specializing in architectural and structural glass design. In our studio Art and Architecture are progressively synthesized through theoretical, aesthetic and industrial materials research, goal that we are pursuing at our winning Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Museum project I am working on in St Louis. Currently, I want to further develop my steep learning within an International Practice that will broaden my architecture design horizons whilst giving me the opportunity to get an acute understanding of various stages of a project development.

Whom it may concern

Patricia has worked at James Carpenter Design Associates since August 2011 and has in this short time proven to be an invaluable member of this office. She has worked on a product development t won for the renewal of the Museum of Westward Expansion below the St. Louis Arch. For this project she has been producing the renderings that are being used to articulate the project as it is presented for fundraising, thereby bringing us through the next phase. In both cases she has been quick to understand the off experiential light in the public realm. She has added her own expertise and experience to the design process and visual representation of these ideas. Patricia has been keen to take every ability to work within a team, proven in her previous studies and work experience, has been borne out at JCDA. Her intelligence and optimism has been a positive addition to the office and we will miss her presence. I highly recommend her to a future employer and look forward to seeing her future progress in the world of architecture.

Best regards,

James Carpenter

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

Reference for Patricia Garcia Chimeno Patricia worked for Aedas from the 17th April 2008 to the 31st July 2008 as an architectural assistant on a variety of projects including The Open Academy, Norwich. She showed initiative in her work and proved herself to be an extremely capable and committed architectural assistant. She was involved in the early stages of the project and focussed on the design of the new school. Patricia always proved to be a reliable, trustworthy and hardworking member of staff and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to a future employer.

To whom it may concern, I met Patricia six years ago when she was working at my friend’s Salvador Perez Arroyo Office. She participated in the team of the Liepaja Concert Hall competition I did collaboratively with Salvador. She also was involved in all international projects I did with Salvador. Years after, he sent her to my Architecture bureau in London, Crab Studio, where she took the roll of Studio Manager and Design Leader of Spanish Projects. Patricia Garcia worked for us for a year, very well: including a major contribution on the competition our Verbania Theatre in Italy (which won) as well as a couple of Madrid projects that eventually succumbed to the 'downturn'. She is extremely enthusiastic and highly motivated. She is got a strong, vibrant personality that is always POSITIVE and full of resource. She is highly rewarding as a colleague and a quick learner. Likewise, she unifies a spirited and imaginative approach to design and practical learning combined with a sound technical knowledge. Well organized, positive, very sharp-witted and scrupulous in accuracy and common-sense. She is also delightful and rather amusing personality. As an operational assistant, as an intellect, as a thinking colleague and, from our observation, as a student, in all categories she is of the first quality. Very highly recommended from my perspective of direct responsibility for 500 students at a time or 30 employees at a time. Signed

Salvador Pérez Arroyo C / Zurbano, 56 – Bajo 28010 Madrid Telf. 915415247 Fax. 915472489 Salvador Pérez Arroyo, PhD Architect and Construction Professor of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (E.T.S.A.M.), Design Tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture at the UCL for nine years and current Visiting Professor at the Berlage Institute of Rotterdam and at the Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi of Copenhaguen.

To whom it may concern, I was Patricia Garcia Chimeno Construction Tutor during her fourth year at University in several seminaries. In all the academics activities I’ve had contact with Patricia, she’s always proved an enormous talent and energy in developing creative and experimental solutions, as well as an outstanding capacity for working within a team. Her remarkable quality as student led me to incorporate her to my professional architecture practice, where she worked with dedication and enthusiasm for four years. During this time, she took part of the design process and development of a wide range of projects that ranged from Large Scale Public Schemes to Villa extensions. She achieved to become Design Leader of several projects. She was in charge of the relations between the Madrid Office and the Satellite Office in London, Crab Studio with Professor Sir Peter Cook as Director. She was moved to London office for a year because of her competitiveness and leadership skills. She worked actively on the winning Social Housing at Vallecas Competition, the also winning Verbania Theatre in Italy and the future Alicante’s Conference Hall. In all these projects she proved ingenuity, responsibility, excellent graphic skills and an outstanding professionalism. I am convinced that, if admitted, Patricia will make the utmost of the opportunities that the program offers, while also contributing with her practical, innovative and communicational skills to this enriching and demanding academic environment.

Regards, Salvador Pérez Arroyo

To whom it may concern,

Patricia Garcia Chimeno developed her final thesis project within the “Aula PFC” Thesis Program of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (E.T.S.A.M.) during the 2009 academic year, achieving an exemplary result. I took the responsibility of being Patricia final thesis project Tutor along with Juan Herreros. Her innovative, brilliant and committed solution with the context of Tetuan developed in her project “Cultural Centre Tower in Tetuán” led her to be awarded with a Distinction in Design and placed her among the top 3% of her Aula PFC Thesis Class. Likewise, her thesis project was included in the best thesis projects selection of the Aula PFC for participating in the “Madrid Arhitektura Exhinition” at the Ljubljana Architecture School and in the “Aula PFC:ASAP” Juan Herreros’ worldwide exhibition. Furthermore, she’ll be part of the in process Best Student’s Aula PFC Thesis Proyects catalogue, where the methodologies, dynamism and teaching duties of the Aula PFC will be shown though the most representative thesis projects. It is worth highlighting the enormous interest and rigor that Patricia showed during the design speculation process, continuously experimenting on her conceptual, architectonic and urban proposal. Thank to this positive, dynamic and committed attitude she achieved the resolution of an ambitious and risky project. Her thesis project has generated debate and important interest among students and professors during critics and juries. Her Master’s Degree in Computer Graphic Design and passion for architecture digitization had a positive bearing on the resolution of the most complex aspects of her Thesis Project. Her valuable computer skills were a perfect tool for achieving superior graphic results. I’ve always encourage Patricia’s enterprising interest that have led her to work in experimenting and leading International Practices she’s worked in, in Madrid and London, as Herzog&de Meuron, Crab Studio with Sir Peter Cook and Aedas London Ltd. In the personal field, she always showed perseverance, rigor, demand, self-confidence and spirit of selfimprovement. Her communication skills, empathy for interpersonal relationships and her disposition for working within a team make her an excellent candidate. Please take care of her application.
