Introduction
LIVINGDESIGN STORE
was a project for a class for introduction to the 2D and 3D Drawing program, Autodesk Revit 2019. To introduce myself to the new program, I’ve decided to recreate the LIVINGDESIGN furniture store. The building follows the exact dimensions and proportions as the original project. However, I’ve designed the interior and added the functions for each designated rooms. This was a big project for me since this is my first time operating an architectural design software. From this project, I’ve learned about digital drafting and three-dimensional renderings. I’ve also learned more about the different seasons of the year, which affects the sunlight/shadow shown on the 3D renderings. I’ve encountered several difficulties, mainly about the unfamiliarity of the software, but overcame them as soon as I’ve mastered the program.

LIVINGDESIGN STORE
is located in Drongen, Belgium. The building consists of a cafe on the first floor and a furniture store and office on the upper floor. Both are visualized on the basis of two geometric figures that were partly pushed together. The result is a geometric interplay of two different volumes that characterize both the store and office. Both the sloping roof surfaces - at an angle of 45 degrees, and the walls were designed in a checkerboard pattern. Contrasting from the geometric exterior of the building, the interior has a much softer and natural color palette and design elements.

MODERN MINIMALIST
This project is a renovation of the first floor of 2190 Vallejo St. 4 story building, which is a part of the lower income housing unit. Jason is a 24 year old college student living alone in the rented unit of 2190 Vallejo St. building. Jason is a photographer and he spends a lot of time travelling and exploring places to take photos. Jason loves to put up his photos on the walls of his home. Jason is usually busy at school and would love his house to be a recreation filled with his interests. he loves simple and minimalistic designs In this project, I developed skills or doing 3D modelling using Google Sketchup. At first it was difficult as the tools were new. But after a while, I started getting used to the new program and started liking it. I rendered using Enscape and found the colors are beautifully rendered.

MODERN MINIMALIST Floor Plan
MODERN MINIMALIST Concept Development In this projetct, the goal is to create a comfortable living space for Jason, which also acts as an inspirtion for his creat-ive passion. The minimalistic design in thehouse really reflects Jason as an artist. The natural finish of each materials and the cool and minimal color palette helps bring Jason’s creative flow to work. As a designer, I believe a home is not just a functional space, but it also has its own personality which reflects the owner living inside. The walls inside the home will be simply white and blank to display Jason’s photos as a focal point. The furnitures will be selected from mid-century modern style which relfects Jason’s artistic style.

REFINED ELEGANCE
This project is a renovation of the three upper floors of 2190 Vallejo St. 4 story building. Bo (39) and Jess (37) are a married couple with 2 children aged 2 and 4. They all live with their 70 year-old Grandma Pearl. Bo operates a home business, so he needs an office space for himself, and two other employees. He and his wife also serve as the landlords for the low-income tenants in the lower unit of the building. Because of an elder living in the project, the house is designed to be accessible to everyone, including people in wheelchais. There’s an elevator shaft located in on the East side of the building. The house is designed with clearances to fit a wheelchair turnover.

REFINED ELEGANCE Concept Development 2190 Vallejo Street was built in 1904 and was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. It is a beautiful and historical building. As a designer, I want to preserve some of its elements to keep the history alive. For this project, I developed an elegant and timeless classic theme with a color palette of deep greens and reds, similar to the original arts and crafts palette. I also think that this elegant and chic theme is perfect for a three-generation family which is timeless. To achieve this aesthetic, furnitures will be selected from the classic with a modern twist to reflect the families livinginside. This will create a comfortable and warm atmosphere for the Yu family.

Introduction
COFFEHAUS
was a project for a class for introduction to the 3D Drawing program, Autodesk 3ds Max 2020. The project was to build a cafe. We were given the option to chose a precedent period in the past that will be reflected in the architecture of the project. I chose the Byzantine period in the Eastern Europe around 1300 B.C. In this project, I was challenged to combine the historical elements of the Byzantine era with contemporary design to create Coffehaus. I chose some architectural elements from the Byzantine era, while still keeping the cafe modern and comfortable for all people. I designed my own furnitures shown in the renderings on the right side based on Byzantine period’s aesthetics, including repetitive geometric patterns and color palettes. I also made a simple logo to support the overall brand of the cafe.
Concept
COFFEEHAUS
was built reflecting the architecture of the Eastern Europe during the Byzantine era. Structures during this era are famous to have arches and domes. This was a reflection to the earlier Roman period. Another key element is the colorful brickwork design on the facades of the buildings. Their most used material for structures were mainly concrete and bricks. Lastly, I implemented the Byzantine’s famous eometrical patterns, usually seen in the mosaics inside the structures and on the floors of the churches. I applied these elements in the cafe and created arches as a seperation between the public dining area and the semi private dining areas. I also applied bricks as a decorative structural material which acts as a centre wall on the second floor.

INTERIORS The interior renderings are done using Autodesk 3ds Max and it was my first time using the software. I was mainly troubled with how each elements and furnitures are scaled since unlike other architectural softwares I’ve used before, 3ds Max is very freehand, without any scaling. I used VRay to render the materials and added figures to scale the building in Adobe Photoshop. The cafe has two levels for a more intimate dining experience on level two. The bottom renderings show the level two dining experience, with a built in bench, sticked on the walls with the COFFEEHAUS logo. The cafe shown use mainly brick material as it’s inspired to the intricate brickwork done during the Byzantine period. The front entrance and the back of the cafe is divided by a series or repetitive arches, inspired by historical structures.

Introduction
LAMIAN HOUSE
was a project for a class for introduction to the design process of interior architecture designing. In this class, I learned the importance of analysing the site of the project, thoroughly measuring from wall-to-wall dimensions, floor-to-ceiling height, and more. I also acknowledged the importance of analysing the neighborhood of the project. This project was a redesign of the restaurant located in the ground floor of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The redesign included the rebrand of a international cuisine restaurant to a modern, chinese noodle (la mian) restaurant. The site is located in the SOMA neighborhood. After the site analysis and behavioral observations of the neighnborhood, I acquired the floor plan of the designated project and made a bubble diagram, followed by a block diagram to plan the space for maximum function. This is also useful to show the circulation path for users.

LAMIAN HOUSE
The concept for this project is “Streets of Shanghai.” The remodelling of the restaurant will make guests feel like they’ve traveled to the busy streets in Shanghai, China. The restaurant is designed with traditional and modern Chinese elements. The space will have be decorated with accents of red and jade green. The restaurant will bring vacation to the busy people in the SOMA neighborhood. Lamian House will be a one-of-a-kind cuisine experience, accessible for everyone. Rendered Floor Plan

INTERIORS The interior renderings are done using Kujiale, a Chinese online designing program. The top rendering shows the entrance and waiting area of the restaurant. The entrance and the restaurant is divided by a bamboo wall and a circle entrance gate. The second rendering shows the public bathroom of the restaurant. The restaurant is divided into a public and a semi-private dining area, mainly for private events or for a more exclusive dining experience. Both bathrooms are A.D.A compliant, meaning they are accessible to everyone, including for the disabled community. The final rendering shows the public dining area with a glimpse of the bar. The flooring shows the repetitive geometric ceramic tiles colored using the color palette or reds and jane greens. There are also pendant lights above the bar counters for ambience.
