“Every gemstone is unique – just like the people who love them.”
DEAR READER , The appeal of coloured gemstones is nothing new. Since man first walked the earth, these miracles of nature have fascinated people for their spiritual properties, mysterious aura and rare existence. Today, jewellery created with coloured gemstones is once again cuttingedge and the rising demand, especially for the finest quality gemstones, is unprecedented. Due to the increase in demand and shortage of supply, coloured gemstones have achieved record prices at auction recently. For those serious about investing in fine coloured gemstones, it is vital to have a trusted supplier. Given that we take the vast majority of our stones from source to sale, we can guarantee that the information we provide about their origin, quality and value is true. This unique attribute distinguishes us from many other gemstone businesses and is invaluable to our clients. Founded in 1927 by my grandfather Paul Wild in Kirschweiler, Paul Wild OHG has carved out a significant niche in the international gemstone business. Today, our company operates its own mines in all the important mining regions of the world and offers a diverse portfolio of coloured gemstones including Paraiba tourmaline, ruby, sapphire, emerald, tanzanite and spinel, to name a few. In 2012, we have further established our presence in Asia by founding a daughter company with a trading office in Beijing. In bringing the gemstones all the way from the mines to the jewellers, our reputation has been recognised internationally and now the time is right to engrave our history even more deeply into the core of the gemstone sector by leading the global industry of coloured gems. We inspire world-leading jewellery design companies to create desirable items that are extraordinary. For our clients’ convenience, we are happy to share with them both our knowledge and understanding as to what exactly they are purchasing. Yours sincerely

It took millions of years, great pressure and high temperatures to turn minerals into gemstones — a unique gift of nature. Volcanic activity, among other things, helps some of the rough stones rise from the depths of the earth to levels that can be reached by man. Paul Wild operates its own mines in all the important mining regions of the world.

Due to this ideal system of acquisition, our company offers the most extensive product range in the gemstone industry. Virtually all types of gemstones are available in a diverse array of cuts and sizes: from faceted stones, fantasy cuts, cabochons, sets, perfect pairs and engravings to calibrated suites that we can reproduce time and time again.
Turning a rough crystal into a finished gemstone requires great craftsmanship to deliver perfect quality. The experienced craftsmen we employ transform our rough gems into unique and rare pieces including many one-of-a-kind magnificent jewels. Markus Paul Wild recognised the importance of the new gemstone early on: since 1996, Paul Wild has been managing a mine in the Brazilian state of Paraiba and, from 2008, another in Mozambique. Having direct access to one of nature’s treasure chambers, the company is able to guarantee the finest quality of gemstones and offer them at favourable prices to its customers. “Once again we were able to find truly remarkable stones”, says Wild. The Paraiba is offered to our clients not only as a a gem but as a collectors’ stone too — available in all shapes, cuts and sizes up to 150 carats. “Because of its rarity, the Paraiba is both an extravagant and secure investment”, explains Wild. The unique vivid shades of blue and green are not found in any other gemstone in the world and create sensational effects in jewellery designs. This motivates our highly qualified craftsmen at Paul Wild to continuously process the valuable stones in innovatively different ways.

Tourmaline’s name comes from the Sinhalese ‘Tura Mali’, which means ‘stone with mixed colours’, referencing its unparalleled spectrum of hues, encompassing all the colours of the rainbow. Furthermore, certain pieces showcase various colours within a single gemstone, adding to each stone’s uniqueness. Evidently, this gem’s varied palette inspires designers to create jewellery to suit every mood and occasion. It is for these reasons that tourmaline has become one of our company’s best-selling gemstones.
Tourmalines from Paul Wild’s own mines offer our highly-skilled craftsmen an enticing rainbow of options to create the most alluring sets for necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. Additionally, this versatile gemstone looks amazing as a solitaire ring. Enhancing it with ornate carving to emphasize its individual character is just one more special quality to add to the list. As with all gemstones, fine quality material is hard to find. Most of the tourmalines have been sourced in Brazil, Namibia, Nigeria and Afghanistan.

One of the earth’s most beautiful and precious gemstones, the natural radiance of a richly coloured sapphire has led to it being called the ‘jewel of the sky’. Representing a promise of honesty, loyalty, purity and trust, sapphires are one of the most popular gemstones used in engagement rings today. Although they are famous for their highly saturated violet-blue colour, sapphires also come in a wide range of attractive colours including pink, green and yellow. Padparadscha sapphires may be little-known to the general public; however, they have been treasured by gemstone connoisseurs for a very long time. Deriving from the Singhalese word for an aquatic lotus blossom, these magnificent gemstones are coveted for their unusual and distinctive shades of colour, reminiscent of a tropical sunset.

Named after the ocean, aquamarine captures the beauty of the sea. Legends say that aquamarine is the treasure of mermaids, with the power to calm the waves and keep sailors safe at sea. This member of the beryl family is often exceptionally transparent with a translucent lustre, available in a range of blues — from a pale pastel to greenish-blue hues. Darker shades of blue are becoming increasingly rare and in turn, their value has increased.
Originating from mines in Brazil and Mozambique, Paul Wild’s premier examples of exceptional magnificence exemplify the captivating splendour of these rare yet highly coveted gemstones. For over 40 years, we have offered an outstanding selection of aquamarines, cut to perfection by our craftsmen. Our range includes all the classic cuts and fantasy shapes. Ornate engravings and skillfully carved objects round off the company’s outstanding portfolio. Because of their harmonious colours and shades, aquamarines are a particularly wonderful choice when combined with other coloured gemstones (e. g. morganite, golden beryl, tanzanite) and are a source of inspiration for our designers to create exquisite jewellery sets for the most discerning of clients.

A keen sense for the correct approach to gemstones and the demanding art of cutting them to perfection, has been passed down in the Wild family from generation to generation. In the jewellery industry, the name Paul Wild has an exceptional reputation — and rightly so. The company’s name carries weight as one of the world leaders in the field of cutting and trading fine gemstones. We offer a remarkably comprehensive product range, largely due to owning many mines in Brazil and Africa.
Founded in 1 927 , Paul Wild laid the foundations for a sparkling empire by setting up its gemstone cutting facility. Our success is due to a genuine passion for beautiful stones and the flawless craftsmanship involved in finishing them. From the very beginning, the Paul Wild company has been mastering the art of combining tradition with constantly looking to the future, perfecting the experience passed down for generations.
C O M PA N Y H I S TO R Y
Paul Wild passed away in 1962 , and in 197 7 his son Hans Werner Wild started to lead his father’s business into the future. Taking a revolutionary step forward, the company very early on acquired shares in an African mine. From 1974 onwards, the company was able to acquire its own gemstones. Located near Idar-Oberstein — the world famous gemstone centre of Germany — the Paul Wild company has evolved into a favoured destination for buyers from all over the world; particularly those with an appreciation for exceptionally selected gemstones. Having always been renowned as a specialist in astonishingly beautiful tourmalines and aquamarines, the company expanded its product portfolio during the 1980 s by including many other types of precious gemstones. As a market leader in coloured gemstones, driven by the desire to advance design, we go to great lengths to present these not only in traditional cuts and calibrated sizes, but also with our own unique creations, finished by our in-house craftsmen. Paul Wild has remained unrivalled in terms of its vast array of readily available stock of superb gemstone suites for necklaces, many of which are complemented by sets for additional bracelets, rings and earrings. In the 1990 s, rubies, sapphires and emeralds were added to the company’s product range and are now considered to be among the stars of the collection. In 1 98 4 , with a booth at the trade fair in Basel — now known as the Baselworld — Paul Wild made its debut on the international scene, which was followed by its presence at shows in Hong Kong and other cities. Today, the company exhibits at eleven events every year, including most recently Beijing and Shanghai. In 1 98 8 , the next milestone was reached when Paul Wild set up its own production facility in Thailand, which enabled the company to produce large quantities of calibrated goods in addition to the gemstones cut in Germany.
