New ending of the story:


The men who were dumping the oil barrels, saw Ben and Matt and they told them to don´t talk about what they were doing. The men threatened the boys, they were very scared and kept silent. The marsh continued getting polluted until David Watchman saw the men one night and talked to the police.

Summary:


Ben Warren was a boy who lived in Marsh Harbor with his family. His mother, Mrs. Warren, worked on her bed-and-breakfast and his father, Duke Warren, was a waterman. Ben wanted to be a waterman instead of going to the university. He helped his mother with her business. One of the guests was a scientist who was studying the water. He was called David Watchman, he talked about many things to Ben. Ben had a friend that was called Matt, they had a lot of adventures. One of those adventures was that they found a place where there was a lot of oil and they told to David Watchman about and they stay one night to find out who was doing this.


At the end David Watchman told to the police and the men were capture. All the people of Marsh Harbor, talked about of what they had to do to protect their land.

Difficult words: -guesthouses: a small hotel. -steamed: angry or irritated. -seasoning: something that is added to food to add flavor. -chowder: a soup of sea food. -feverishly: related to a fever. -racecourse: a course for racing. -guts: internal organs of an animal. -eelgrass: a marine plant. -mucky: something that is disgusting.


-sea nettle: a stinging jellyfish. -squall: scream. -choppy: rough with small waves. -soaking: to put something in a liquid for a period of time. -handkerchief: a small cloth used for wiping your face, nose, or eyes. -marsh: an area of soft, wet land that has many grasses and other plants. -careening: to go forward quickly without control. -snit: a state of agitation. -shanty: a small shelter usually of wood. -due: required or expected to happen. -caulking: to fill the cracks or holes in something with a substance that keeps out water.


Lesson: We have to protect our planet.

Favorite character: My favorite character was David Watchman because he looked the way to help Marsh Harbor.

Comment: I didn´t like the book because it doesn ´t have a lot of mystery and action.
