MARÍA LAURA FAGILDE acrylic paintings
BIO _
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Maria Laura Fagilde moved to Indiana, the United States, in 1986 to study music, graduating with the Master of Music and Master of Arts from Ball State university. She then moved to Miami where she earned the Doctorate in Piano Performance from University of Miami. Being an accomplished pianist has led her to perform in the United States, Europe, and South America together with Ricardo Roel, her husband and piano duo partner. Together they have performed extensively making appearances with orchestras performing their own arrangements of tangos and Argentine music. They have been honored with several prizes including the 100 Latinos Miami 2011-2012 given in recognition for the values, tenacity, and talent of 100 immigrant latinos who chose Miami as their second home. She made some TV and radio appearances as well as several recordings. Her love for art however harks back to her childhood. She got inspired by her father who she usually saw him painting his oil landscapes. Maria Laura always enjoyed drawing, doing crafts with different materials, collages, and painting. A self-taught artist, now her life is between music and painting, the two arts she mostly enjoys and likes. Nature, colorful abstracts, and folk objects are the themes she likes to paint inspired mostly by folk Argentinean art, its earthy colors and texture. She enjoys painting trees, landscapes, serene and endless horizons with changing skies. Watery scenes, layers of paint that suggests the ocean and vivid colorful abstracts.
