THE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP

Workshop Category: Drawing, Painting, Inspired by Famous Artwork Brief Introduction to Workshop Series: Students will gradually develop their artistic expression potential though educative and ludic activities. They will get to know the example of very different artist and experiment with all kinds of materials and techniques, both traditional and modern which will stimulate their creativity and imagination. Finally, students will be able to compose a painting starting from shapes and lines, light and shadows, colour and details. The development of abstract and figurative thinking is intended.

Age Range: Suitable for 4 - 15 year olds. Group ages: 4 to 9 and 10 to 15

Paper for painting (A4 or bigger)/Sketchbook Carbon paper Masking tape Charcoal Pencils/Coloured markers/Crayons Acrylics Watercolours Brushes Canvases Water container/ Basin Newspapers/Magazines Scissors Glue Painting varnish Recycled materials

Workshop Duration: Each session: 45 minutes long Workshop Series: 9 sessions in total


Week-­‐by-­‐week breakdown: Week 1: An artist´s studio: Figurative and abstract art. Introduction and examples of artists in their studios. Learn about their work and put into practice their techniques. Week 2: Giaccometti´s studio: An introduction to drawing. Fundamental elements of drawing (point, line and blot). A series of simple and ludic activities which allows pupils to draw having fun and enjoying themselves. These will develop the observation capacity. Use of different drawing materials: charcoal, pencils, watercolours, crayons, etc. Week 3: Miró´s studio: An introduction to painting. Primary and mixed colours. Arts as a means of communication and expression of ideas and feelings. Learn to prepare your own colour palette. Use of acrylic paint, watercolours and brushes. Week 4: Pollock´s studio: Experimenting. Dripping technique and painting in water. Carry out works of art full of colour by dipping papers in water. Unique and original results. Week 5: Cezanne´s studio: The Still Life. Learn to look at objects in detail. Light and shadows. Draw and paint what you see. You will be surprise at how easy it is to give volume to your drawings. Week 6: Antonio Tápies´ studio: Textures and composition. Create worlds in miniature and relief paintings. Use of recycled and creative materials (sugar, flour…) to produce great compositions. Week 7: Dalí´s studio: The creative process and the sketch. Compilation of ideas and images from magazines, books, photographs…among other. Experiment with all the drawing and painting techniques learnt. Week 8: The artist inside the studio. Start your own picture beginning with a sketch. Use carbon paper and free technique. Painting on canvass. The artist´s signature. Week 9: From the studio to the world. Prepare a work of art for exhibition and its presentation. Get to know the value of your piece of work and your colleagues´.




TRADICIONAL AND 3D MODELLING Workshop Category: Design, Sculpture. Brief Introduction to Workshop Series: This workshop shows the possibilities of sculpture nowadays, starting with the clay or plasticine modelling going on to 3D sculpture. Students will develop their creative and spatial capacities, acquainting themselves with techniques and materials, traditional as well as digital

Workshop Duration: Each session : 45 minutes long. Workshop Series: 5 sessions in total

Week-­‐by-­‐week breakdown: Week 1: The sculpture. Showing 2D and 3D examples to students, both material and digital, helping them to understand volume and dimension aspects. Developing of observation capacity. Week 2: Sketches and ideas for modelling. Make up a creature or think of a character, animal, food, or toy. Turn into a sculpture or a toy designer. Starting with examples, sketch what you want to model. Top, lateral and front views. Week 3: Model a cartoon face, animal or toy. Fundamental notions of traditional modelling. Use of modelling tools. Week 4: Model in clay. Start modelling using the drawings you have done as guidelines. Week 5: 3D Modelling (Sculptris). Go from traditional to digital modelling with an easy software program. It allows you to work with the sculpture much like if it was clay in a completely digital format. Symmetry and Asymmetry, and textures.


Future workshops:


Oil Painting Workshop: Learn to oil paint from scratch. Get to know in depth the chromatic circle and colour mixtures, and the main methods, techniques and materials. Pupils will develop their potential for artistic expression and the achievement of the artwork. Improve observation capacity and pictorial skills. Students could represent reality from their point of view, coming closer to the world of art and arising their curiosity. Age Range: Suitable for 9 - 15 ear olds.

Printmaking Workshop: Learn the basic processes in engraving and stamping with different materials and mounts. You will see examples of graphic work, their implementation techniques and styles. Achieve original results in stamping. Stimulate play and imagination. Age Range: Suitable for 4 - 12 year olds.

3D Printing Workshop: Carry out basic design, modelling and 3D impression to turn your creations into reality. Use the free software to create solid objects (Tinkercad). Discover technology through art. Age Range: 12 - 15
