Becoming a Community Champion is a way to give where you live and be connected to your community in a very personal way. Sure, there are a few people who wake up every day asking themselves, “How can I use this day to make a lasting impact?” That’s something to aspire to, but even those of us who wake up asking, “Why can’t I find two socks that match?” can have an impact that is just as lasting.

WHAT WILL YOU CHAMPION IN YOUR COMMUNITY?

WHY GET INVOLVED? WHY GIVE?

As kids, we become accustomed to getting stuff. Remember as a child that feeling of unwrapping a birthday gift? Or opening a greeting card and, POW... cash falls right into your lap? Our reaction is, yes! But if we’re being honest, generosity takes a little more time. It’s more of an acquired taste. It is irrational to give away money that we could be spending on ourselves, right? So why do we do it? Research shows that we give because it makes us feel good to have a positive impact in other people’s lives and who doesn’t want to feel good? Charitable giving also serves as a strong reminder to ourselves of what we value and believe to be important, and it communicates the importance of giving to our children.
