Park Design - Thesis - Final Year
My thesis titled redefining boundaries, is a public park on Parnell Square, Dublin. It uses the wall to define an area of the city and to distinguish it from other areas. It uses the wall to create positive bounded spaces in which activities can take place. The walls for the project are rammed earth taken from the site and the program of the park is embedded within these walls. The program shifts along the main axis to form varied spaces inside and outside of the park. The park terraces along the axis between an Art Gallery and Library with a 4m plinth at the northern gallery end. This allows for an underground extension of the Hugh Lane Gallery facing out onto the park.

Secondary School Design - Semester 7 The School is formed by two wings, one administrative, one educational that extend from the central General Purpose space. The program was laid along these wings and then shifted against the central axis to create informal educational spaces along the corridor. The material choice accentuates the difference between programmed classroom and informal learning space

Student Accommodation Design - Semester 8
The brief was for student accommodation and recreational facilities in an urban setting in Dublin. The form of the building provides links through the site and creates courtyards to be used by the residents of the accommodation and the general public. The structure has a 24m span that creates a veritable threshold between public and private courtyards. The span is achieved by integrating a steel truss into the wall over the span.

Town Hall Design - Semester 6
This town hall is located in Hamburg, Germany. The idea was to create a focal building for the surrounding community. As such the building’s structure lessens as it proceeds toward the ground where it is most open to the public and also faces onto public gardens and plazas. In conjunction with designing our own town halls, we all studied various squares and Rathaus in towns around Germany to inform our design. Our group conducted an in depth analysis of such a square in Hildesheim, Germany.
