From Iraq to England to the United States
Born in Mosul, Iraq, in 1981, Paul and his family moved to England when he was six weeks old. His parents, both doctors, received extra training while in England. Three years later, while "vacationing" in the United States, the family sought and received political asylum.
The family moved around in the States for six years until settling in Canton, Ohio, in 1990.
A Young Investor
Paul attended Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and started investing during the Internet go-go days of the late 1990s. He participated in an investment club and became familiar with billionaire Warren Buffett, and something clicked in him. Paul realized that what he was doing was no longer investing but speculating. Buying a stock meant he was investing in a piece of a business. Once Paul had that "aha" moment, investing became a totally different game for him.
He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2003 with a degree in Economics and, in 2004, started what eventually became The Crossroads Group, investing in apartments in the Ohio area. He also purchased homes, renovated and rented them. His younger brother is now the CEO of The Crossroads Group.
Always a step ahead, while everyone shied away from real estate and stocks in what they considered toxic investments during the Great Financial Crisis in 2007-2008, Paul invested heavily in both buying hundreds of apartments and millions of dollars in stocks. His play paid off.
An Agnostic Approach to Real Estate and Stock Investments
Paul continues expanding his real estate portfolio, with plans to purchase two lake homes as rental properties and he just closed on a 200-unit apartment complex in Louisville, Kentucky. His successful approach involves looking at what he can purchase and what rental prices he can get. It's also about finding great deals others don't see due to low rents. While others might pass up on these properties, he sees them as opportunities.
Paul Gabrail also continues to purchase stocks, preferring those out of favor or with temporary issues but with staying power His choice of stock investments is based on
their potential for future cash flow, with the expectation that he will get a higher-than-normal market return. This is what makes these stocks a good investment opportunity.
Unlike other investors, Paul's choice of stock purchases is not based on his personal feelings, which is also reflected in his strategy in real estate investments.
Paul's successful investments have been recognized and sought after. Several publications have interviewed him, and he has written on related subject matters for The Property Investor.

Paul shares his successful strategies on his YouTube show, "Everything Money."
