Saint Clare of Assisi Clare and Brother Francis lived in the same city. Clare noticed that Francis spent his life for God. He took care of the poor. Other young men followed him and became friars, too. Clare was the first Saint Clare lived woman to follow Francis. from 1193–1253. Saint Sharbel Makhlouf Joseph Makhlouf cared for his family’s sheep. He often prayed and thought about God. When he was twenty-three, he joined the monastery of Saint Maron.
