2 ACTIVITY Begin Year One of first job after graduation Conduct informational interviews with other professionals and colleagues at employing institution Join Region V NUFP Committee or similar professional group Attend 2016 ACPA and NASPA Regional Conferences for networking and continued professional development and learning Find 1-2 professionals to serve as new mentors Develop writing (professional interest blog, write articles for publications) Connect with mentors (once per month) Continue re-connecting with mentors (once per month) Join 1-2 committees or taskforces to engage with employing community Participate in coordination or facilitation of programs or workshops for employing institution’s community (students and staff) Attend a minimum of three conferences (regional or national) Submit proposal and/or present during at least two conferences outside of employing institution Participate in professional networking opportunities in Washington-state Find one service or volunteer opportunity outside of work to develop relatable knowledge, skills, and experiences Serve as mentor for no more than two students at employing institution Serve as a NUFP Mentor or in similar mentor role through larger professional organization Attending a minimum of three conferences (regional or national) Begin research into doctoral programs in Higher Education, Student Affairs, and/or Educational Leadership Establish with a new mentor Submit 2-3 program proposals and attend NASPA National Conference Start searching for new employment/advancement opportunities Continue serving as NUFP Mentor or in similar role Maintain relationships with no more than five student mentees Narrow down doctoral program search and prepare application materials Attend conferences and other relevant professional development events Continue re-connecting with mentors (once per month) Have at least one article published in professional publication Begin submitting applications for new professional employment or advancement opportunities Submit applications for doctoral programs Prepare for interviewing and transitioning into new professional role Create and submit program proposals for relevant conferences or events Attend 2020 NASPA and ACPA National Conferences Continue re-connecting with mentors (once per month) Develop a new plan (two- or five-year choice)
