Celebrant for Pet Funerals Rather than being pet animals, our “pets” have become our family members. They are as much loved as our children and pet owners have started calling themselves pet parents rather than owners. The love that we receive from our pet is unconditional and ever growing and it is the reason why that the passing away of our pets hurts us even more. Thus, the pain and grief of losing a pet is deep and often devastating. It is the love for our pet that doesn’t let us get over the pain or get another one immediately after the loss. Pet funerals are not quite different from the ones we plan for our relatives or friends. Nowadays, they are held in the same fashion. M memories of the pet relieved with photographic displays, pet poems and pet prayers. Just as a reverend is required for the funerals, people prefer having a pet celebrant or a pet reverend of sorts to help them deal with the pain and griefs of their pet’s passing and help them to move on. Unlike the human funerals, pet funerals are generally small affairs with the near and dear ones of the pet owner present. Being a pet celebrant means travelling to the home of your clients, taking the body bag, placing the pet in it. A celebrant places the remains of the pet on the cot. The pet owner is then allowed to spend time with their pet before it is taken to the crematorium. The celebrant is for the owners as well as the funeral. It is necessary that a celebrant should keep the need of the pet owner above everything. From the process of picking up the body from home to cremating or burning it, everything is in the job description of a pet celebrant. If the pet is to be cremated, as a pet celebrant, it is required from you to ask the pet owner if they want urn, box or other object to place remains in. The burial of the pet often depends on the local authorities if they allow the burial of pet remains. Burial can take place on the private property also. As a celebrant, it is necessary for you to know the history about the pet. From type of the pet to the impact they placed on their lives, a celebrant should be able to provide peace and tranquility by talking about the pet. The bereaved pet owner should be comforted and the funeral should be suitable for befit the deceased. Every pet owner grieves in a different way. While some may cry and mourn, others will be happy with the memories their pet have left them. As a pet funeral celebrant you must not judge anybody due to the way they grieve. Empathy is the most important quality and it has to be understood by you. In each and every situation, you must keep your calm and remain professional yet caring towards your client and their grief.
