Performing art Centre The design studio was to formulate design programme/ proposal based on live or hypothetical projects and concerns. To explore and create different environmental design and experience based on architectural theory, approaches, process, and methods.

As a need of Cultural platform in the fastest growing city Surat, “Performing art centre” was designed hypothetically on the historical area which is on the river bank besides the fort. The art centre is envisioned to have all kind of cultural events, large performances, Competition, Festivals like navratri, city level events like Tapi utsav and cultural nights, public gatherings etc.

Site information

Site Area 38000 sq.m

Site is located on the eastern side of Tapi river. It will act as Cultural platform of the city. It is proposed in a premise that has historical value ,existing context of Institutes and river as a main context.

Concept Idea was to design spaces which enhance user experience in indoor as well as Outdoor Public spaces and creates unique experience in each space. Considering river as focal point masses and functions were distributed which creates movement according to different user group.

House of Knowledge The institutional studio was formulated around the base of exploring various approaches, ideologies, intentions, theories and visions related to the site as a context as well as the notion of an institute. House of knowledge includes library space, exhibition space, seminar hall, cafeteria, admin area etc.

Site information

Site Area 1000 sq.m

Site is located in Ambawadi area in campus of C.N Vidhyalaya, Ahmedabad .Based on observations of C.N campus the loction of the site was chosen to be near the English Medium School. The site is at junction of pedestrian and vehicular road.

Concept Architectural elements like courtyard, light shaft and double volumes were introduced in design to provide proper light and air circulation in the basement and overall building.

Working Drawing Institution design was carried forward further to generate detailed construction drawing. Exposed brick-work and exposed concrete material were explored. General Arrangement drawings, toilet, staircase, pantry, door window details and other details were worked out.

Puducherry Housing Studio was focused to develop community housing, which has gathering spaces, common amenities, and commercial units catering to all kind of people. Here, the main idea is to develop a interactive street life, by designing units having front and back yards separately.

Site information

Site Area 5000 sq.m

Site is located near railway station in pondicherry. Pondicherry is small town with grid pattern development. It has French and Tamil Quarter in one town.

Concept To maintain existing fabric, design process started with exploring courtyard houses. Unit which has front yard and backyard can develop street life within the cluster. By repeating units linearly and staggering to create small spaces final design was achieved.

Heritage Cell Ahmedabad Studio was focused on designing a heritage cell, in which exhibition space, offices ,seminar hall and guest house had to be incorporated in design by exploring wood fully as a material.

Material Structure & Form Semester 3



Site information

Site Area 560 sq.m

The site was located in old city of Ahmedabad near Jami Mosque and Teen Darwaja, Surrounded by dense fabric.

Concept By using wood as a material idea was to create space where the transformation can happen easily. Double volume and light niche were designed for getting in light and ventilation. Lanscape elements were used to create a good quality of space.

Training gave experience of practical world to me. I was assigned to work upon luxury residential bungalow as main designer and co-ordinator under Senior architect. -

My role was to detail out each architectural design with co-relation of services and Interior layouts. Similarly I was supposed to design various spaces in house like main spiral staircase, lift foyer staircase, landscape area of entrance as well as fabricated roof. It gave me vast knowledge of how to co-ordinate with various agencies, services and incorporating design at same time.

It includes deciding Gen, Genomes, Fitness criteria on basis of issues or design aim. Section XX’

RSP: Ahmedabad (Dhal ni Pol)

In form of drawings and photographs a detailed documentation was done for the selected house of Dhal ni Pol,in old city. It include study of elements, construction method and material. House was unique as it has street on three sides. The slabs are supported on steel I section beams, columns and T section girders. The T sections and the beams are bolted to each other. The walls are thicker at the ground floor and gets thinner to the top.
