Drawing in Perspective From context to sketchbook

Drawing in One-Point Perspective To draw an object in a parallel or one point perspective you firstly establish the vanishing point within the composition.

Drawing in One-Point Perspective The varnishing point is where all the lines that run away vertically on the page converge.

Drawing in One-Point Perspective These meet on the horizon or at eye level. Marked here in blue.

Drawing in One-Point Perspective With this principle you can draw any three dimensional object where the article is straight on to the viewer. The cube here is parallel and the lines recede into the distance. As we see the object from above the lines go down the page. If we drew the lines above the horizon line we would see the cube from beneath.

Drawing in One-Point Perspective Try to draw an environment similar to this for yourself. Firstly work out your eye level. Estimate the position of the varnishing point. Sketch out the proportions of the horizontal lines of the floor and the vertical frame of any door or window.Lastly work on the remaining elements.
