We have the honor to feature in our new issue a very special interview of the award-winning actress Mina Orfanou. ίγα μνημεία στον πλανήτη σε κάνουν σχεδόν να ψηλαφίσεις, να νιώσεις την ιστορία τους μέσα από την ιστορία των λαών που τα κατασκεύασαν. Ο Παρθενώνας, χτισμένος τον 5ο π.Χ αιώνα στα συντρίμμια παλαιότερου ναού στην ίδια περίπου θέση με τον σωζόμενο, είναι σαν την ίδια την Ελλάδα. Πέρασαν κατακτητές και καταπατητές, μετατράπηκε από χριστιανικό ναό κατά το μεσαίωνα, σε τζαμί κατά την οθωμανική εποχή και έγινε στόχος για τα κανόνια του Βενετού Φραντσέσκο Μοροζίνι, οπότε και καταστράφηκε μεγάλο μέρος του, αφήνοντας ό,τι απέμεινε στην οργή των επαναστατημένων Ελλήνων του '21. Κι όμως είναι ακόμα εκεί.

I HAVE A VISION...

here are few monuments on the planet that make you feel their history through the history of the people who constructed them. The Parthenon, built in the 5th century BC, over the ruins of an older temple, is like Greece itself. Occupiers and trespassers passed; it turned from a Christian church during the Middle Ages, into a mosque during the Ottoman era and became a target for the cannons of the Venetian Francesco Morosini that destroyed a big part of it, leaving the rest to the wrath of the Greek revolutionaries of 1821. Amputation... Thomas Bruce, 7th Earl of Elgin (Scotland 1766 - Paris 1841) was a diplomat and envoy of Britain in Istanbul who acted as a catalyst to the complete deterioration of the image of the monument, removing sculptures for many years (1799 -1812) with the blessings of the Sublime Porte and the sultan. The method of removal of the sculptures (17 figures from the two pediments, 15 metopes, 75 meters of relief depictions of the friezes and findings from the excavations at the expense of Elgin) could be described as rather barbaric. Hands of unskilled workers, saws, hammers and scaffoldings around the temple not only mutilated the monument, but also plundered the surrounding buildings, monuments and antiquities of Athens. The ultimate goal was selling them to Britain with an exhibition following at the British Museum, triggering the reaction of the intellectuals and ordinary people. The odyssey of the marbles of the Acropolis, however, does not end here. A scandal erupted in the mid-1930's, when the masterpieces were left once again in the unskilled hands of the maintainers of the

Ο ακρωτηριασμός των γλυπτών… Ο Τόμας Μπρους, 7ος Κόμης του Έλγιν (Thomas Bruce, 7th Earl of Elgin, Σκωτία 1766 - Παρίσι 1841) ήταν διπλωμάτης και απεσταλμένος της Βρετανίας στην Κωνσταντινούπολη. Eπέδρασε καταλυτικά στην ολοκληρωτική αλλοίωση της εικόνας του μνημείου αφαιρώντας και φυγαδεύοντας γλυπτά επί σειρά ετών (1799-1812) με τις ευλογίες της Υψηλής Πύλης και του Σουλτάνου. Η μέθοδος της αφαίρεσης των γλυπτών (17 φιγούρες από τα δυο αετώματα, 15 από τις μετώπες, 75 μέτρα ανάγλυφων απεικονίσεων από τις ζωφόρους καθώς και ευρήματα από τις ανασκαφές που έγιναν με έξοδα του Λόρδου) θα μπορούσε να χαρακτηριστεί μάλλον βάρβαρη. Χέρια ανειδίκευτων εργατών, με πριόνια και σφυριά, ακρωτηρίασαν το μνημείο στήνοντας σκαλωσιές γύρω από το ναό, λεηλατώντας όχι μόνο τον Παρθενώνα αλλά και τα γειτονικά κτίσματα, μνημεία και αρχαιότητες της Αθήνας. Στόχος η πώληση στη Βρετανία και η έκθεση των έργων στο Βρετανικό Μουσείο, παρά την αντίδραση του πνευματικού αλλά και απλού κόσμου. Η οδύσσεια των μαρμάρων της Ακρόπολης όμως, δεν τελειώνει εδώ. Σκάνδαλο ξέσπασε στα μισά περίπου του περασμένου αιώνα, συγκεκριμένα την περίοδο 1938-1939, όταν τα ακρωτηριασμένα αριστουργήματα ήρθαν ξανά αντιμέτωπα με ανειδίκευτα χέρια, αυτή τη φορά των συντηρητών του Βρετανικού Μουσείου, που, στην προσπάθειά τους να τα «συντηρήσουν», αφαίρεσαν την «βρωμιά» από τα αγάλματα με χάλκινα εργαλεία. Αγνοούσαν, βέβαια πως αφαιρούσαν το χρώμα με το οποίο συνήθιζαν να βάφουν οι αρχαίοι τα ενδύματα και τα χαρακτηριστικά των προσώπων των γλυπτών.

Το 1961, στα γυρίσματα της ταινίας «Φαίδρα», η σπουδαία ηθοποιός Μελίνα Μερκούρη, μπαίνει στην αίθουσα που εκτίθενται τα μάρμαρα του Παρθενώνα. Από την στιγμή εκείνη, έβαλε στόχο της την επιστροφή των γλυπτών. Απέρριψε τον όρο «Ελγίνεια» και καθιέρωσε την ονομασία «μάρμαρα του Παρθενώνα». Κατά τη θητεία της ως υπουργός πολιτισμού τη δεκαετία του '80, διατύπωσε επανειλημμένα το αίτημα για επιστροφή των μαρμάρων στην Αθήνα, ακόμα και προσωπικά στον ίδιο το διευθυντή του Βρετανικού Μουσείου, Sir David Wilson σε μια στιχομυθία που έμεινε στην ιστορία. Όταν η Μελίνα του τόνισε τη μοναδικότητα του Παρθενώνα και αυτός της απάντησε πως υπάρχουν κι άλλα μοναδικά μνημεία στον κόσμο, η αντίδραση της Μελίνας Μερκούρη ήταν αποστομωτική: «Υπάρχουν πολλοί Παρθενώνες; Αχ, πόσο στεναχωριέμαι για εσάς. Δεν πειράζει! Θα σας περάσει», αφήνοντας τον Sir Wilson και τον Διεθνή Τύπο άφωνους.

Σήμερα… Για χρόνια, δικαιολογία των Βρετανών για την παραμονή των γλυπτών στο Λονδίνο, ήταν η έλλειψη κατάλληλου χώρου για τη στέγασή τους στην Ελλάδα. Απάντηση αποτελεί το Νέο Μουσείο της Ακρόπολης, ένα από τα πιο σύγχρονα και βραβευμένα μουσεία παγκοσμίως που στεγάζει τα σωζόμενα γλυπτά του Παρθενώνα με γύψινες προσθήκες των τμημάτων που βρίσκονται στο Λονδίνο. Τόσο σοκάρει η εικόνα των ακρωτηριασμένων έργων τέχνης που, ειδικά στην εποχή της αμφισβήτησης της προσφοράς της Ελλάδας στον παγκόσμιο πολιτισμό λόγω της κακής οικονομικής της θέσης, είναι πιο επιτακτικό από ποτέ να πραγματοποιηθεί το όνειρο της Μελίνας και να γυρίσουν οι μορφές αυτές στη γη από την οποία βγήκαν και λαξεύτηκαν πριν από 2500 χρόνια. British Museum, who, in their attempt to "preserve" them, removed the so-called dirt from the statues, using bronze tools. The “dirt” was just the substance that ancient Greeks used to color the garments and the faces of the statues…

...bring them back! the vision of Melina Merkouri 1961. During the shooting of the film "Phaedra", the great actress Melina Mercouri, enters the hall where the marbles are exposed. From that moment, she set as her goal the return of the sculptures. She rejects the term "Elgin marbles" and introduces the term "marbles of Parthenon." During her service as Minister of Culture in the 80s, she repeatedly requested the return of the Marbles to Athens, even personally to the Director of the British Museum himself, Sir David Wilson in a historic crosstalk. When Melina emphasized the uniqueness of the Parthenon and he responded that there are other unique monuments in the world as well, the reaction of Mercouri was beyond words: “There are many Parthenons? Oh, how sorry I am for you but it doesn't matter! You'll be fine!”, leaving Sir Wilson and the press speechless. Today... For years, the British excuse was the lack of a suitable place for the marbles' accommodation in Greece. The answer came with the New Acropolis Museum, one of the most modern and awardwinning museums worldwide that houses the Parthenon sculptures with plaster additions of the stolen parts. The image of the mutilated pieces of art is that shocking that, especially in an era that the offer of Greece to the world civilization due to its poor financial position is being questioned, it is more imperative than ever that the dream of Melina comes true. He came in Greece in 1981 from Sweden and after two years, he started his drag show at the City Club in Mykonos. Other shows in City Club Athens followed together with cooperations with other nightclubs such as Alexander's in Kolonaki and Koukles Club. At the same time, he worked as make-up artist at Seminas Digeni group.

Ήρθε στην Ελλάδα απ' την Σουηδία το 1981 και ξεκίνησε το drag show δύο χρόνια μετά στο City Club της Μυκόνου. Ακολούθησαν τα shows στο αντίστοιχο City Club στην Αθήνα, συνεργασίες με άλλα νυχτερινά μαγαζιά, όπως στο διάσημο Alexander's στο Κολωνάκι αλλά και στο Koukles Club ενώ παράλληλα εργάστηκε ως make-up artist στην εταιρία της Σεμίνας Διγενή.

“Η ιστορία του drag show ξεκινά από το αρχαίο Ελληνικό θέατρο, όπου λόγω της απαγόρευσης που είχαν οι γυναίκες στο θέατρο, οι άντρες υποδύονταν τους γυναικείους ρόλους, κωμικούς και δραματικούς. Επίσης, στο μεσαίωνα υπήρχε το Comedia de larte (θέατρο του δρόμου), όπου κάνανε θεατρικές παραστάσεις με κωμικούς ρόλους τους οποίους ερμήνευαν άντρες. Στην αναγέννηση, στα θέατρα της Αγγλίας έπαιζαν πάλι όλους τους ρόλους άντρες, όπως στο Romeo & Juliet, στο Hamlet, κ.α.”

“Drag show history is based on ancient Greek theater, were men were playing female roles, both drama and comedy, because women weren't allowed in theaters. Moreover, in medieval times, there was ‘Comedia de larte’ where men were also performing female roles. In Renaissance, at England's theaters, there were also men actors performing every role in plays such as Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet e.tc.”

Lenn, μπορεί ο καθένας να κάνει drag show; Για να κάνεις drag show πρέπει να έχεις έμφυτο το υποκριτικό ταλέντο, γιατί το κάθε drag show είναι σαν μια μικρή θεατρική παράσταση. Έχει πολλές απαιτήσεις από τον performer, κι ακόμα περισσότερες, όσο αφορά εμένα που υποδύομαι υπαρκτά πρόσωπα. Γι αυτό και μελετώ αναλυτικά την εξωτερική εμφάνιση, ξεκινώντας απ’ το πρόσωπο, τα μαλλιά μέχρι και το κοστούμι της star που θα μιμηθώ… φυσικά την κίνηση και τον στίχο για να κάνω καλό playback και να καταφέρω να μπω στον ρόλο έτσι ώστε να το αισθάνομαι και να το περάσω αυτό στο κοινό που θα παρακολουθήσει το show μου. Αυτό είναι και η επιτυχία αυτής της μικρής θεατρικής παράστασης που ονομάζεται drag show. Ποια είναι οι αγαπημένες σου stars που λατρεύεις να υποδύεσαι; Όλες οι stars που υποδύομαι είναι αγαπημένες μου και έτσι πρέπει να είναι άλλωστε, όπως η αξέχαστη Μελίνα Μερκούρη, η Νανά Μούσχουρη, η Tina Turner, η Dianna Ross, η Marylin Monroe, η Lisa Mineli, η Marlene Dietrich, η Dolly Parton, η Madonna και τόσες άλλες. Λατρεύω όλους μου τους ρόλους και δεν μπορώ να ξεχωρίσω κανέναν. Είναι όλες μεγάλες stars και αισθάνομαι μεγάλη χαρά να προσφέρω διασκέδαση στον κόσμο με αυτό τον τρόπο της υποκριτικής, το drag show. GO!

Lenn, can anybody perform a drag show? You have to have a natural performing talent in order to do a drag show, because every drag show is a small theatrical act. It is very demanding for the performer, and even harder for somebody like me who impersonates real people. This is why I study carefully every detail such as appearance, face, hair and even the costumes of the star I impersonate each time. Of course the moves and lyrics are also essential in order to perform well and to be confident so that people will like to watch my show. That's the secret for this successful little theatrical act that is called drag show. Who are your favorite stars that you adore to impersonate? All stars I impersonate are my favorites. And this is how it should be of course...There are many, Melina Merkouri, Nana Mouschouri, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Marylin Monroe, Lisa Mineli, Marlene Dietrich, Dolly Parton, Madonna and many more... I love all of them and I cannot just pick some. They are all big stars and I feel great pleasure entertaining people through this great way of acting-drag show. GO!

...η διάκριση που ξεπέρασε τη σιωπή!

GO!XCLUSIVE Γεννήθηκε κωφός στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης και μέχρι 15 ετών είχε επικοινωνία αποκλειστικά με κωφούς. Σιγά σιγά άρχισε να αποκτά φίλους ακοή... συνεννοούνταν με την γραφή, με επιμέλεια: Ηλίαςμε Αντωνίου εκφράσεις προσώπου και διαβάζοντας χείλη... ήταν κυρίως άτομα που τους άρεσε η νοηματική. Τον Αργύρη τον γνώρισα πριν ένα περίπου χρόνο, όπου εργαζόταν σε gay club και ξαφνιάστηκα όταν έλαβα φέτος την αίτηση συμμετοχής του στον διαγωνισμό. Τι ήταν αυτό που σε ώθησε να δηλώσεις συμμετοχή; Στον διαγωνισμό Mr Gay Greece μέχρι τώρα λάμβαναν μέρος μόνο άτομα που με κανονική ακοή. Σαν κωφός είμαι ο πρώτος διαγωνιζόμενος, και θέλω να δείξω ότι και οι κωφοί μπορούν να συμμετέχουν στην ίδια κοινωνία χωρίς να υστερούν σε κάποιο τομέα!

Ο Αργύρης κάποια στιγμή δίστασε, φοβήθηκε την απόρριψη και μου ζήτησε αν μπορεί να ακυρώσει τη συμμετοχή του. Όμως, θεώρησα ότι δεν είναι δίκαιο να αισθάνεται μειονεκτικά, γι αυτό και είχα αποφασίσει η παρουσίαση του διαγωνισμού να γίνει και στη νοηματική γλώσσα, και του είπα: "να ξέρεις πως ο κόσμος θα εκτιμήσει πολύ τη τόλμη σου". Τον έπεισα κι έτσι συνέχισε. Το αποτέλεσμα τον δικαίωσε... Όταν ανακοινώθηκαν τ’ αποτελέσματα ένιωσα απίστευτα. Για μένα είναι μια πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία και είναι πολύ σημαντικό το γεγονός ότι κατάφερα να είμαι ο πρώτος gay κωφός που βραβεύεται στην Ελλάδα και να εκπροσωπήσω τον τίτλο και την εικόνα του gay για ένα χρόνο. Παίρνω δύναμη απ' αυτό για να συνεχίσω... θέλω να καταφέρω τους στόχους που έχω βάλει να φτάσω όσο ψηλά μπορώ!

Μετά τα αποτελέσματα του διαγωνισμού στην Αθήνα, ο Αργύρης ταξίδεψε στην γενέτειρα του στην Κρήτη για να ανακοινώσει τα αποτελέσματα στους συγγενείς και να λάβει την ευχή τους για την εκπροσώπηση της Ελλάδας στον διαγωνισμό Mr Gay Europe 2012. Έχω χάσει και τους δύο μου γονείς, αλλά είμαι σίγουρος ότι η μανούλα μου με κοιτάει από ψηλά και αισθάνεται περήφανη για μένα. Όλοι μου όμως οι συγγενείς στην Κρήτη πήραν απίστευτη χαρά με τη νίκη μου. Με αγαπάνε πολύ γι αυτό και χαίρονται με την επιτυχία μου.

Και ήρθε η ώρα να ταξιδέψουμε στη Ρώμη για την εκπροσώπηση στο Mr Gay Europe. Ακόμα και για τον ευρωπαϊκό διαγωνισμό ήταν κάτι πρωτόγνωρο η εκπροσώπηση χώρας από έναν κωφό gay άντρα. Αλλά ήμουν πεπεισμένος πως ο Αργύρης θα είχε θερμή υποδοχή και αγάπη απ' όλους. Σαν εμπειρία θα μείνει χαραγμένη στο μυαλό και στην καρδιά μου για πάντα. Έγινα φίλος με όλους τους υπόλοιπους διαγωνιζόμενους. Ξεναγηθήκαμε στη Ρώμη, διοργανώσαμε απίστευτα parties τα οποία συνεχίστηκαν και στην Κρήτη όταν με επισκέφτηκαν!

Πως πιστεύεις ότι μπορείς να βοηθήσεις τους νέους gay με τον τίτλο του Mr Gay Greece; Θέλω να βοηθήσω τα νέα παιδιά όσο αφορά την αποδοχή της σεξουαλικότητάς τους. Θα ήθελα να τους κάνω να αισθάνονται άνετα γι αυτό που νιώθουν. Το μόνο που με ανησυχεί είναι η βία και η διάκριση που βιώνει η gay κοινωνία μας το τελευταίο διάστημα.

Born deaf in Herakleion-Crete, he was communicating only with deaf people until he was 15. Little by little he started having friends without hearing problems... they were communicating through writing, face expressions and lips reading. They were mainly people who liked sign language. II met Argyris almost a year ago, in a gay bar where he was working and I was pretty surprised when i received his candidature to the contest. What made you decide to participate? Up to now, there were only people without hearing problems entering Mr Gay Greece contest. Being deaf, I want to show that people like me can participate in the exact same society, without falling behind in any sector!

Argyris was hesitating at some point, being deaf, he was afraid he would be rejected, so he asked me if he could cancel his participation. However, I thought it wouldn't be fair for him to feel disadvantaged, so I decided to have the presentation of the competition also in sign language. Then I told him:”you should know that people will appreciate your courage”. He was convinced and so he continued. Winning proved him right! When the results were announced, I felt incredible! This represents a very big success for me and the fact that I managed to be the first gay deaf man in Greece to win and be the “face” of gay community for a year, is very important. This gives me strength to keep on... I want to succeed my goals and reach as high as I can!

Following the contest in Athens, Argyris traveled to his motherland-Crete to announce the results to his relatives and get their blessing for his participation to the Mr Gay Europe 2012 contest. I've lost both my parents, but I am sure that my dear mother is looking from up above and feels proud for me. All my relatives in Crete were incredibly happy for me. They love me very much and so, they are very happy for my success.

It was time to travel to Rome for the participation to the Mr Gay Europe contest. Even for the European contest, representation of a country by a deaf man was something unusual. But I was sure that Argyris would meet a warm welcome and love by everybody. I will carry this experience in my heart and mind for ever. I became friend with the other contestants. We were shown Rome and we organized amazing parties that we repeated when they visited me in Crete.

How do you think you can help young gays with the Mr Gay Greece title? I would like to help youngsters with accepting their sexuality. I would like to make them feel good with what they feel. The only think that worries me, is discrimination and violence the gay community has to suffer lately.

Μίνα ύ ο ν α φ ρ Ο Οι φίλοι μου με λένε Στρέλλα γιατί είμαι λίγο jazz! Με αυτή την ατάκα, η πρωταγωνίστρια στην ταινία "Στρέλλα" του Πάνου Κούτρα, έκανε το ντεμπούτο της στο κινηματογραφόφιλο κοινό και βραβεύτηκε με το Βραβείο Α' Γυναίκειου Ρόλου στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών. Ακολούθησε η τηλεοπτική επιτυχία της κωμικής σειράς "Βασιλιάδες" στο Mega, όπου πρωταγωνίστησε, έγινε ευρύτερα γνωστή και αγαπήθηκε από μικρούς και μεγάλους. Φέτος την απολαμβάνουμε στο θέατρο ‘Χυτήριο’ με το έργο της Ελένης Γκασούκας,"Η φτωχούλα του Θεού".

Καλύμνια ταλαντούχα Μίνα Ορφανού, δεν πίστευε ποτέ ότι όταν θα ερχόταν από την Ρόδο στην Αθήνα, από ένα και μόνο τηλεφώνημα για casting σε ταινία θα άλλαζε η ζωή της. Τι κι αν δεν έχει σπουδάσει υποκριτική; Το ταλέντο της είναι πηγαίο και αυτό δεν μπορεί να το αμφισβητήσει κανείς. Ηθοποιός, ζωγράφος και λάτρης των καλών κλασσικών επίπλων & έργων τέχνης, αξίζει μια επίσκεψη στο σπίτι της στην Καλλιθέα, όπου ζει μαζί με τον Μόκα, το αγαπημένο της κουνέλι. Στον ελεύθερό της χρόνο ασχολείται με την παραγωγή φυτικών καλλυντικών αλλά και με την μαγειρική με μεγάλη μάλιστα επιτυχία. Παρόλο που στην Ρόδο η Μίνα ήταν από τότε 'jazz' και απολάμβανε τη νύχτα σε bars του νησιού, αισθανόταν εγκλωβισμένη και το 2001 αποφάσισε να έρθει στην Αθήνα με σκοπό να αλλάξει την ζωή της. "Η νύχτα στην Αθήνα ήταν μια πρωτόγνωρη εμπειρία για μένα, καινούρια πρόσωπα, άλλος τρόπος σκέψης και νοοτροπίας, ακόμα και στην μουσική, το ύφος ήταν διαφορετικό. Εξοικειώθηκα γρήγορα με τους δικούς μου όρους και με μέτρο, γιατί μπορούμε να γνωρίσουμε πολύ εύκολα τη νύχτα και από την άσχημη πλευρά της κι αυτό ξέρω πως δεν έχει καλή κατάληξη. " Ποια η σχέση σου με την gay ζωή στην πόλη; Δεν κάνω ταξινόμηση στα μαγαζιά που βγαίνω για να περάσω καλά και δεν μου αρέσει να βάζω ταμπέλες. Όπου υπάρχουν καλοί άνθρωποι πηγαίνω. Αλλά όποιος διαβάσει τη συνέντευξη θα καταλάβει ότι δεν είμαι τακτικός θαμώνας των μαγαζιών. Όταν βγαίνεις έξω με τους gay φίλους σου, περνάς καλά; Εκτός από σένα, δεν έχω άλλους gay φίλους, μόνο γνωστούς. Έχω όμως για φίλη από τον χώρο, την Σάντρα και άλλες φίλες εκτός gay χώρου. Γενικώς, είμαι ευχαριστημένη από τις επιλογές μου και περνάω καλά, τα τελευταία χρόνια όμως έχω βάλει μέτρο στη ζωή μου και δεν βγαίνω όπως παλιότερα. Είσαι κι εσύ της γνώμης πως έχει χαθεί ο ερωτισμός της πόλης; Ναι, δεν υπάρχει πια ερωτισμός στην πραγματική ζωή, μόνο μέσα από το διαδίκτυο, ένας 'εικονικός ερωτισμός' και τις πιο πολλές φορές απρόσωπα. Κάποτε έβγαινες να πιείς ένα ποτό και να διασκεδάσεις, γινόταν ένα φλερτ το οποίο κατέληγε σε σχέση, πολλές φορές σοβαρή σχέση και τώρα δεν υπάρχει αυτό. Τι είναι αυτό που σου αρέσει περισσότερο στην Αθήνα; Μου αρέσει η νύχτα της Αθήνας από ψηλά και ειδικά από τον Λυκαβηττό. Μου αρέσουν τα θέατρα, οι κινηματογράφοι, τα καλά bars & εστιατόρια, μου αρέσουν τα πάντα στην Αθήνα, αρκεί να ξέρουμε να επιλέγουμε σωστά. GO!

“Friends call me Strella cause I'm a bit “jazz”...with this line, the star of the movie “Strella” became famous to the movies fans and won the ‘Female Leading Act Award’ at the Athens conservatory. Then there was the sitcom “Vasiliades” (kings), were she was staring, through which she became famous to the general public and popular to all ages. This year she acts “God's poor little girl”, a comedy that offers sociability and human interaction, at Hitirio Theater.

Born in Kalymnos, talented Mina, never thought that she would come to Athens from Rhodes and with only one phone call, she would change her life. Never mind she never attended any drama school, she is a natural, and no one can say the opposite. Actor, painter and good old furniture admirer, a visit to her house in Kalithea, definitely worths a vιsit! She lives there together with Moka, her lovely bunny. At her spare time, she prepares homemade cosmetics and cooks with great success. Even though Mina was enjoying nightlife at bars in Rhodes, being “jazz”, she decided to move to Athens in order to change her life. “Nightlife in Athens was an exciting experience for me, new faces, different mentality and way of thinking, even in music, the style was so different. I quickly got accustomed by setting my own rules and always with caution. Because we might get to know night very easily also on its bad side, and I know that this doesn't end up well. This is something I always avoid.” How do you describe your relation with gay life in the city? I don't discriminate places where I go out to have fun and I don't like “tagging”. I go wherever there are nice people. But whoever reads this interview, will think I am not a regular to the “places”. Do you have fun when you go out with your gay friends? I don't have gay friends apart from you, just acquaintances. I have a very good friend from the scene, Sandra, and many girlfriends out of the gay scene. Generally, I'm very satisfied with my choices and I am having a good time. Lately I have set some “standards” in my life and I don't go out as often as I used to. Do you also think sensuality has been vanished from this city? Yes, there's no more sensuality in real life, just through the Internet, a virtual sensuality, which is most of the time very impersonal. In past times you would go out to have a drink and have fun, and then there was flirting that would end up to a relationship, and sometimes a serious one. You don't have that anymore. What do you like the most in Athens? I like night in Athens, especially from up above, from Lycabetus. There are so many things to say about theaters, cinemas, good bars, restaurants, I like everything in Athens, everything is nice if you know how to choose right. GO!

Πότε ξεκίνησες να ασχολείσαι με τη μουσική; Η μουσική είναι ένα μικρόβιο που κουβαλώ από πιτσιρικάς και ήταν ανέκαθεν χόμπι μου το να ψάχνομαι και να αφιερώνω πολλές ώρες. Για καμιά δεκαετία τουλάχιστον ασχολούμαι με μίξεις και sets.

Η πρώτη σου επαγγελματική μουσική ενασχόληση; Ξεκίνησα πέρυσι το Νοέμβριο στο sexradio. Είχα ανεβάσει ένα σετάκι στο facebook την ίδια περίοδο άνοιγε ο συγκεκριμένος σταθμός, το άκουσαν και μου πρότεινε συνεργασία και χωρίς σκέψη απάντησα “NAI”!

Πως θα χαρακτήριζες το είδος της μουσικής σου; Περιστρέφομαι γύρω από την house και tech house μουσική κυρίως, χωρίς βέβαια να αποκλείω και αλλά είδη μουσικής όπως trance & electronica.

Πιστεύεις ότι λείπει αυτό το είδος στον gay χώρο; Σε μεγάλο βαθμό υπάρχουν κάποιοι dj's που την υποστηρίζουν αλλά είναι ελάχιστοι και για να γίνω πιο συγκεκριμένος... έχει εκλείψει το feeling της αγάπης του ερωτισμού του πάθους του σεξ, του χρώματος μέσα στη μουσική και γι’ αυτό όταν κυκλοφορεί τραγούδι - κομμάτι που εμπεριέχει τα παραπάνω πετυχαίνει στη βιομηχανία της συγκεκριμένης μουσικής.

Γιατί "St Galen in Wonderland"; Αυτή είναι η τελευταία μου δουλειά, ένα σετάκι περίπου 53 λεπτά. Όλοι μας είτε σαν παιδιά είτε μεγαλύτεροι έχουμε παρακολουθήσει τη ταινία “Alice in the Wonderland”, μια ταινία γεμάτη από ένα κόσμο που λίγο πολύ όλοι μας έχουμε ονειρευτεί πολλά έντονα χρώματα, φανταστικούς ήρωες που ζουν σε ένα παράλληλο σύμπαν με εμάς. Αυτό ήθελα να πετύχω με τη συγκεκριμένη μου δουλειά. Να ταξιδέψουμε και να παίξουμε να χορέψουμε σε ένα κόσμο γεμάτο αγάπη, σεξ, πάθος και χρώμα. GO!

n When did you start playing music? Music for me is a microbe that I carry out for when I was a kid; it has always been my hobby and was spending many hours by searching. For at least ten years I'm working on mixes and sets. n When was your first professional experience? Last November in sexradio. I uploaded a music set on facebook, they heard from the radio station, suggest me a cooperation and without thinking about it I said 'YES'! n How would you describe the kind of your music? Rotates around the house and tech house music mostly without of course exclude over other types of music in like trance & electronica. n Do you think that is missing this kind of music from the gay scene of Athens? In a large degree, there are some dj's who support it but only a few and to be more specific, has eliminated the feeling of love, the erotic passion of sex, the color in music and so when released song contains the above elements it succeeds in this music industry. n Why St Galen in Wonderland; This is my last work, an about 53 minutes set. All of us, either as children or older, have watched the movie "Alice in the Wonderland", a film full of a world that pretty much all of us have dreamed, full of bright colors, fantastic heroes living in a parallel universe with us. I wanted to accomplish with this set. To travel, to dance and play in a world full of love love sex passion color. GO!

Το India Blues είναι μια ολέθρια, γενναία και παθιασμένη ιστορία αγάπης ανάμεσα σε δύο νέους άνδρες που φοβούνται κάποιες φορές ν'αγαπήσουν ο ένας τον άλλο. Η ταινία εξερευνά την ρομαντική σχέση των δυο πρωταγωνιστών της μέσα από 8 συναισθήματα- ή στάδιακαθώς ερωτεύονται και ξε-ερωτεύονται ο ένας τον άλλο. Κάθε τμήμα της αντιστοιχεί σ'ένα συναίσθημα της σχέσης τους. Ακολουθώντας το αισθηματικό ταξίδι των χαρακτήρων, μεταμορφωνόμαστε από απλούς θεατές σε εμπειρικό κομμάτι αυτής της περιήγησης, καθώς έχουμε τα ίδια συναισθήματα με αυτούς. Από το μαρτύριο στην απάθεια, από την επιθυμία στην απογοήτευση το India Blues είναι μια καταστρεπτική αλλά συνάμα μια αληθινή ταινία γύρω από την αγάπη που βρίσκεται, χάνεται και μετατρέπεται μέσα στην παράλογη μονοτονία της σύγχρονης ύπαρξης.

Through exploring their experiences and the trivial or important moments in their relationship in real time (their first kiss, their first sexual encounter, their awkward silences, their last hug), we are submerged in their universe of love and the feelings that come with it. Like Jean-Luc Godard once said, “a film should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. But not necessarily in that order”. In taking full advantage of that challenge, lies the unique element of “India Blues”: the feelings the characters experience are not presented to us in sequence, but in the “wrong” order – Pain, Lust, Happiness, Jealousy, Attraction, Peacefulness, Love and Anger, function as eight segments-chapters in the coming together and the tearing apart of two very different people. The intensity of the two characters’ feelings, which is highlightened even more by the fact that we, exactly like them, experience things in real time, draws the spectator in the emotional roller-coaster of a love relationship, with all the joy and pain involved in it.

ακούγεται οικείο; Γενναίο και ασυμβίβαστο, το India Blues παρεκλίνει από το παραδοσιακό στρουκτουραλιστικό μονοπάτι. Γενναιόδωρα απελευθερωμένο από σύνορα και μηχανικούς διαλόγους, βασίζεται αποκλειστικά στον πραγματικό χρόνο και στον αυτοσχεδιασμό των ηθοποιών, οι οποίοι προσθέτουν αυθεντικότητα και ίσως κάποιες φορές κρυμέννο ρεαλισμό. Η ένταση των συναισθημάτων των δύο χαρακτήρων δίνει έμφαση στο γεγονός, οτί και εμείς παράλληλα με αυτούς, έχουμε τα ίδια βιώματα, σε πραγματικό χρόνο. Ο θεατής δεν μπορεί παρά να εμπλακεί άμεσα στην αισθηματική θύελλα αυτής της ερωτικής ιστορίας... ένα ταξίδι με το οποίο ο καθένας μας μπορεί τόσο εύκολα να ταυτιστεί. Αν τελικά οι χαρακτήρες μας θα φτάσουν στο προορισμό τους ή αν θα φτάσουν στο αδιέξοδο, μένει σε μας να το αποφασίσουμε...

Γιώργος Μαρκάκης (Σκηνοθέτης) Ο Γιώργος Μαρκάκης γεννήθηκε στο νησί της Κρήτης το 1974. Σπούδασε κινηματογράφο στην Αθήνα και τη Νέα Υόρκη. Για πολλά χρόνια, εργάστηκε σε ταινίες, διαφημίσεις και τηλεοπτικές εκπομπές ως βοηθός σκηνοθέτη στην Αθήνα, τη Νέα Υόρκη και Βαρκελώνη. Έχει σκηνοθετήσει ο ίδιος τρεις μικρού μήκους ταινίες. Η India Blues είναι η πρώτη μεγάλου μήκους ταινία του, ενώ ο ίδιος ετοιμάζεται να παρουσιάσει στο κοντινό μέλλον δύο ακόμη ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους. Τα δύο τελευταία χρόνια ζει και εργάζεται στην πόλη του Βερολίνου.

George Markakis was born on the island of Crete in 1974. He studied cinematography in Athens and New York. For many years, he worked on movies, advertisements and television shows as assistant to the director in Athens, New York and Barcelona. He has directed three short films himself. India Blues is his first feature film, while he is preparing to present two more full legnth films in the near future. For the last two years he has been living and working in the city of Berlin.
