FACEBOOK POSTING BEHAVIOUR OF RETAILERS AT CHRISTMAS
As part of my current role I manage the social media efforts of a UK based retailer. I understand and have seen first hand the growing impact social media can play in the success of a company. My initial aim of this research was a desire to ensure that our facebook page was ‘keeping up’ with other retailers leading up to our busiest season, Christmas. I chose to analyse every post that a sample of 30 retailers created and shared between: 1st November 2013 to 1st January 2014. This analysis has allowed me to capture some fantastic content and also given me a broad insight into the posting behaviour of pages that saw great volumes of engagement and growth over the Christmas season. After analysing the information, I thought it would be a great piece to share with others interested in social media and retail, so I enrolled the help of a colleague, Senior Graphic Designer Jim Dwyer, to create this document. To the right is the sample of retailers I chose to observe. A collection of competitors and retailers with very large like counts . . . I hope you find this research helpful and above all engaging, thank you for reading. Paul Williams
