Concrete Pave Stones

Grasstone I ™

IMPROVING YOUR LANDSCAPE ™

Grasstone I ™

Grasstone™ I, made with an open-void, interlocking lattice design creates a flat surface for intermittent paving applications. The open void allows for on-site infiltration of stormwater and revegetation. Designs can use topsoil and grass or aggregates in the grid openings depending upon desired effect. The concrete grid stone reinforces grassy areas that are subject to wheeled or vehicular traffic. Typically an area that undergoes repeat vehicular traffic will become so compacted that the permeability of the soil structure is inhibited to the point that the grass is unable to survive. Because Grasstone™ I enables the traffic to go in areas designated as greenspace, it is a good product for vehicular paths that maintain vegetation such as emergency access routes and overflow parking. COMPOSITION AND MANUFACTURE Grasstone™ I is made from a “no slump” concrete mix. Made under extreme pressure and high frequency vibrations, Grasstone™ I has a compressive strength greater than 4000psi, a water absorption maximum of 7%.

APPLICATIONS

INSTALLATION

PRODUCT INFORMATION Grasstone™ I is available in 1 size and 1 thickness, 100mm = 4"*

When installed as a pavement, unsuitable, unstable or unconsolidated subgrade material shall be excavated according to the direction of the Site Engineer/Architect/Landscape Architect and compacted. Backfill with minimum 4 in. (100mm) to 12 in. (305mm) or as otherwise directed by the above noted Site Authorities with compacted, dense, graded aggregate. The Grasstone™ I units are placed on a thin, compacted layer of not more than 1/2 in. (13mm) of sand. Revegetation procedures are the same as those described for Erosion Control applications. Erosion Control applications require the slope to be graded uniformly (ideally to a 3:1 or more gentle slope) before bedding the Grasstone™ I units in a maximum 1/2 in. (13mm) layer of sand. In order to prevent the migration of fine granular material it may well be necessary to place a geotextile on the graded slope before applying the bedding course of sand. In order to support grass or plant growth, the voids must be filled flush to 2 to 3 in. above their surface with suitable topsoil or mixture of soil and fertilizer. Then the openings are seeded, sprigged or plugged.

Note: Colors are shown as accurately as possible in brochures & samples, but due to the nature of the product, regional color preferences and variables in print reproduction, colors may not match exactly. For best results in maintaining color consistency, pave stones must be installed from several cubes at a time. Efflorescence, a whitish, powder-like deposit, may appear on concrete pave stones. This is a natural occurrence in any concrete product and will usually wear off over time.
