A hilarious and heartwarming story from a bright new picture book talent Isobel’s grandma has lost her glasses and she can’t see a thing without them. While Isobel and gran are in the garden searching for the specs, they come across a cat. A very big cat. A very big and friendly cat. The big cat moves in with them, much to the disgust of all gran’s other cats. He might be good fun, but he takes up lots of space and eats every scrap of food. Eventually the new cat’s parents turn up, looking for their missing son. And they just happen to have found gran’s glasses too, so everything becomes a little clearer! A heart-warming and surreal romp, packed with jokes and funny details. Emma Lazell completed the hugely prestigious MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, graduating in 2018 with a distinction. Emma was one of only eight illustrators selected for The Bookseller magazine’s Bologna 2018 Illustrator showcase. Big Cat is her debut picture book.

A life-affirming celebration of the world’s wonders and the potential of every individual Barry Falls’ debut picture book is a richly illustrated, funny and thought-provoking celebration of the wonders of life and the potential of children. This is the perfect book to read to children to help them to appreciate the wonderful things that exist in the world, and the wonderful things that they could do, as well as helping them to understand some of the setbacks they may face. The story also serves to reassure them about the nature of unconditional parental love. Barry Falls’s fast-paced rhyming text harks back to the Dr Seuss era of children’s books, while his art includes a wealth of details to spot on each page – cats, birds, flowers, cars, books, castles, rollercoasters and chocolate cake, to name just a few! As for you, my bouncing ball, Barry Falls is an illustrator and graphic designer well you can truly have it all. livingYes, in you Belfast, Northern Ireland. clients in publishing, design and advertising. His clients include The New York Times, Orange, Unicef, NSPCC and The Guardian. He has won multiple awards and lectures in illustration at Ulster University.

A thought-provoking environmental picture book from the winner of the 2017 Batsford Prize A young girl, Bea, and her dog, Iris, are staying with her granddad in the country. Bea is bored, but Iris’s adventures lead them to the small and rusty old greenhouse next door. Inside the greenhouse, Bea finds... a giant. A giant made entirely of plants and greenery. Bea is scared, but the giant reassures her and explains that he has escaped from the grey city. Bea and the giant become friends, but can they do anything to make the grey city, and the world, a greener place? The Green Giant is a timely new picture book that highlights our concern for the environment, greening our cities, guerrilla gardening and making the world a better place.

Katie Cottle is an illustrator and print-maker living and working in Bristol. Katie won the 2017 Batsford Prize for children’s book illustration with her story ‘Home Grown’. She has also been ‘highly commended’ by the Macmillan Prize for Illustration on three occasions and she received a ‘One to Watch’ award at D&AD New Blood in 2017. The Green Giant is her first picture book.

Art y! the first artist in space

William Bee Pavilion Children’s | 9781843654124 | £6.99 | March 2019 | PB Colour illustrations throughout | 32 pages | 280 x 220 mm Ages 3–6

The second in the series about the artistic escapades of Arty the frog Arty is a frog. He’s also an artist. In fact, he’s the greatest artist in the world. And now he’s about to blast off into space, to go where no artist has gone before. He is not happy about it, but Mr Grimaldi (who sells Arty’s paintings) is excited by the opportunity. After a number of uncomfortable space tests, Arty is ready for his artistic space mission. When he comes back, he has a great surprise for the scientists on Earth. Will they be pleased with his artistic endeavours, or will they be hopping mad? It’s one small step for Arty, one giant leap for art-kind in this latest adventure for everyone’s favourite frog. And on the 50th anniversary of the very first moon landings, what could be more timely? William Bee was born in London, but now lives in the Suffolk countryside. As well as writing and illustrating children’s books, he races a vintage sports car, is an international skier, and when at home tends his lawns and meadow. He is the author of the William Bee’s Wonderful World series of vehicle books and the first title in the Arty! series, Arty!: The Greatest Artist in the World, as well as many other books for children.

The first in this much-loved series on amazing vehicles is now in paperback

More amazing vehicles from William Bee’s collection – now in paperback

William Bee loves his trucks, and he has lots of them. There’s his tanker truck, which carries all the fuel he needs for his vehicles – in fact, it holds enough fuel for 650 cars! Then there’s his coal-fired steam truck, his amphibious truck and his snow-blowing truck, plus the truck that carries all of his racing cars, and not forgetting his jet-powered truck that can reach 370mph! And that’s just the beginning of his collection. This book is perfect for every child who is fascinated by vehicles large and small.

William Bee’s back and this time he’s showing off his amazing collection of trains, boats, planes and more. There’s his jump jet, which can take off vertically, his World War I fighter plane that can perform amazing stunts, the steam locomotive, the mini submarine, his speedboat (occasionally stolen by his pet dog), and even his space rocket for a trip to the moon! This is a great book for every child fascinated by amazing vehicles that can fly, float, dive underwater, travel on tracks and blast off into outer space.

As well as writing and illustrating children’s books, he races a vintage sports car, is an international skier, and when at home tends his lawns and meadow.
