While the Western landscape may seem limitless (indeed, it IS limitless), it does come with an unfortunate catch. You will never be able to see it all. You’ll run out of vacation days long before you run out of trails.

To parents, we’re often fond of saying, “You only have 18 summers with your kids. Make them count.” But the idea applies to us all. It’s an admission that each year is precious, and therefore every journey should be rich.

Maybe that means stopping to smell the wildflowers, quietly spying a fawn through the trees or drinking in a vista topped with craggy white peaks. But it could mean just about anything that leads to deep, meaningful experiences. Some revel in man-versus-nature-type challenges. Others might write a song with local musicians or learn from an artist who’s passionate about watercolors. Maybe for you, making the most of your travels means having a heart-to-heart conversation with a horse or lingering over a meal that took six chefs all day to prepare.

In our industry, we’ve noticed that suddenly people are planning all sorts of extravagant trips. But rather than flying this way and that, jacking up the miles, let’s hold fast to the things that matter in one spectacular place. We say, choose your adventures wisely. Stay awhile. Live a little, and then some.

After all, there’s no need to settle for a trip that’s anything less than extraordinary, and there’s no time like the present to savor every possible moment.

Cheers to a spectacular 2022!

BETT E R T H AN A BACKSTAGE PASS— THE B AC KCOUNTRY PASS No doubt, The Resort at Paws Up® is exclusive, and each well-attended event tops out at only a few hundred guests. But for adults seeking added privacy, the green o resort lies just up the road. There beyond the gate, twelve freestanding Hauses dot the quiet, wooded hillside. Each ultra-modern structure offers 360-degree views of the forest and creature comforts beyond compare. If you’re traveling sans little ones, we highly recommend it. Inquire with us about special event package rates during select Paws Up events, and enjoy the best of both worlds at the green o.
