Money - The Other Side of the Coin A guide by Jessica Asutin
So goes the clichÊ "money making as a teenager is the root of all evil" what do you think of money? Is it really the root of all evil? Wikipedia defines money as something that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and payment of debts. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange, a unit of account, a reserve of value, and sometimes a deferred payment rule. Sometimes people put so much value in money, putting more importance on it than their morals, values and principles in life. Money is not bad, but people who have the money are bad, use it as a tool to do bad things.

This is what I think about money. Money is good. We can buy a beautiful house, a good car, fresh clothes, lots of bling-bling and can be used to help those in need. I can say so many names here as proof that money is also a good thing to acquire. Bill Gates, for example, is a good example who has acquired billions of money, but has put it to good use, not abusing the wealth it possesses. He uses the money he has accumulated in many philanthropic endeavors. Is it not good to watch over your fellow men? To help them when they are in need? That's the good side of having more money. You have the power to change someone's life. You have the opportunity to extend a helping hand to the sick.
There are so many ways on how to use money in good manners. Look around, so many children are neglected, the out-of-school youth population grows up to 30% each year, teens get hooked on drugs and prostitution and so many families have lost their homes from natural calamity. If you have billions, millions or more of enough money in your pocket you have so many options as to where to place your excess money. You can donate to your local charity foundation that helps kids who have been physically or mentally abused, can also help teens who are into addiction to drugs by placing them in rehab or can financially support an orphanage. Doing even one of these is giving someone a hope, an opportunity to live a better life.
Remember, money is just a tool. It should not be your god. It should not compromise its morals, values or principles. Put your money in good use. Use it to make you happy, live a comfortable life and, if possible, use it in a good Samaritan way to help those in need. This is the good side of money. It is not bad to have all the money in the world if your intention to own is good and not put as much importance on it when it comes to spending time with your loved ones. Our relationship with others is much more important than money.
