SPOOKY SWEETS Halloween by the Scoop
Salt & Straw, the small-batch, Portland-based ice cream company with shops in both Wynwood and Coconut Grove, gives us the ultimate sugar rush this Halloween with a must-try, limited-time Ice Scream menu. Throughout October, the parlor serves colorful and creative scoops of five holidayinspired flavors sure to please ice cream lovers of all ages.
Fulfill your sweet-and-savory candy bar cravings with the Great Candycopia, a salted butterscotch ice cream overflowing with housemade versions of Kit Kats, Reese’s peanut butter cups, Snickers, and Heath bars. The Jack o’ Lantern Pumpkin Bread is equal parts pumpkin spice ice cream, pumpkin bread chunks, and whipped cream cheese frosting, while the bright blue Double Bubble Toil & Trouble is a vegan take on bubble gum ice cream that’s wildly popular with the kids.
Perhaps the most daring of the bunch is the matcha-based Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters. Within, discover oodles of real candied insects (yes, you read correctly) including toffee-brittle mealworms and chocolate-covered crickets—both rather delicious if you can get over the freak factor.
