TRY THIS Wild Thing
It’s a jungle out there thanks to Treetop Trekking Miami on Watson Island, where adventurers can explore the Magic City via tree canopy. The newly opened six-acre park features dozens of challenges like zip lines, balance bridges, swinging logs, Tarzan swings, cable crossings, and other elements for children and adults alike. Protected with a helmet and buckled into a safety harness, guests can traverse three courses: Explorer Trek, Thrill Seeker Trek, and the Discovery Course. “We harmonize with nature so people can feel inspired and enjoy transformative experiences that heighten all the senses,” says Jean-François Couture, chief marketing officer of The Trekking Group. Some elements will put you as high as 55 feet in the air, offering what Couture calls “a very different perspective of Miami.” And with the park’s proximity to Jungle Island, you may even get a peek at gibbons, lemurs, capybaras, and ibis. Fans of The Crown or Downton Abbey can dress up and head to The Biltmore in Coral Gables for afternoon tea. While relaxing in the dazzling lobby and listening to a live harpist, couples can enjoy selections from a fourcourse menu and sip on tea—or unlimited bubbles, should the mood strike. Tea is served from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. (biltmorehotel.com)

Does competition fuel your passion? Then head to Axe Habits in downtown Miami or Palmetto Bay to determine your lumberjack skill level. Guests enter cages to throw axes at targets and then tally points to crown the winner. End the outing with a celebratory glass of wine or beer at the adjacent bar. (axehabits.com) 4 Slow down, get outside, and explore North Miami Beach’s Oleta State Park by kayak. Soak in the sounds of scurrying and splashing critters, or turn the romance up a notch by partaking in the park’s full moon kayaking sessions. After paddling through the waterways, enjoy s’mores ashore around a fire. Cuddling is encouraged. (floridastateparks.org/oletariver)

MUSIC Eye of the TIGRE
Argentinian psychedelic blues, Arabic reggae, Ethiopian jazz—these are not the typical genres you’ll hear on the radio. But Isabella Acker is hoping to change that as the founder of Tigre Media. A veteran in the Miami music scene, she and a small team of international writers are connecting music lovers with global sounds by curating playlists to enrich your Spotify shuffle. They’ve since expanded to include a recording studio (Tigre Studios) and intimate concerts at the Tigre Den. “Tigre has always been [about] music discovery for citizens of the world,” says Acker. “We assume people don’t really know what’s happening around the world musically, so we like to be that cool curator friend. It’s definitely in the spirit of humanizing the algorithm.” Here, Acker shares more about curating global sounds. (tigresounds.com) –C.L.

Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream’s astronaut motif is represented as a life-size sculpture by Arsham and as a graffiti tag. The new store also features splashes of muted lime green. AVM: Tigre Media has a foundation in Spanish-speaking music. Why did you start there?
Acker: I always felt that the Latin scene [and] industry is pretty insular if you don’t speak Spanish. I have felt this calling to create a more expansive, open, welcoming narrative around world music— Latin and beyond—for people who appreciate music in other languages but don’t necessarily speak them.

Tell us more about Latin artists breaking into the English charts in Miami and elsewhere.
Reggaeton has paved a lot of bridges. It is the main representation [on the charts], and I’m excited to show people what else is out there. We did a post called “Five Colombian Artists That Aren’t Maluma.” We weren’t trying to throw any shade at Maluma; it’s just an opportunity to show there’s such a diaspora that exists. We have playlists that many people feel really connected to and playlists for moods and [others for] countries and cities.
Where else can music lovers experience live music with you?
We launched a world music series at the Miami Beach Bandshell; we’ve made it free and open to the public. We want to continually ... build an ecosystem where people feel their music taste is represented in a way that they can experience it live. I feel like we’re just getting started. It’s been a really exciting space.
Part clothing shop, part art gallery, Wynwood’s Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream flagship store is on brand for its founders: rapper and producer Pharrell Williams and Japanese designer Nigo. “It’s going to be a place where people can come in to get inspired by the mix of fashion, culture, art, and design,” says Williams. New York design firm Snarkitecture transformed a 5,000-square-foot warehouse into a one-of-a-kind boutique. The designers drew inspiration from Everglades National Park, choosing a palette in greens and blues, and using environmentally friendly materials like recycled plastic, glass, and wood panels. More than just a store, the space will be a venue for artwork and installations, spotlighting artists from around the globe, while offering product collabs with brands like Human Made, Comme des Garçons, Bamford, Yellowpop, Baggu, Bunny Shapiro, Krink, Humanrace, and more.
