LOCAL GUIDE MAKERS & MARKETS

One of the beauties of living in South Florida is that outdoor gatherings abound year-round. And in Fort Lauderdale, that means weekends are booked with some of the best communityforward farmers and artisan markets. Whether you’re on the lookout for fresh fruits and veggies, in search of an eye-catching accessory, or want to add a piece of artwork to your abode, options are plentiful.

Start with the Garage Sale, hosted at the popular beer garden Rhythm & Vine. Its newly expanded yard—inclusive of a cargo container bar—is home to the pop-up (hosted every second Sunday of the month), featuring a curated selection of 30 local vendors selling everything from trendy bathing suits to vinyl records to dog bandanas.

After shopping, stay for live acoustic music, bottomless cocktails, and rotating food trucks. Flip the page for the scoop on where else to spend the weekend. (instagram.com/the_garage_sale_ftl)

Night Market at Dania Pointe

Newer on the scene is the Night Market at Dania Pointe, taking place biweekly at the up-and-coming shopping plaza. This sundown edition (5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every second and fourth Friday of the month) specializes in produce in addition to handmade, homemade, and remade items from more than two dozen local artisans and farmers. Bring your yoga mat for a complimentary sunset flow and stick around for local bands and musicians. (nightmarketatdaniapointe.com) Sunnyside Up Market

Mark your calendars for the Sunnyside Up Market, held the second Sunday of every month. Created by Bettina Benizri, Genesis Prada, and Nicole White, this open-air market spans the entirety of the MASS District and is ideal for those eager to become a plant parent (check out Plant Good Thought) or peruse contemporary art (like Ace Ace Movement). Foodies can expect libations a plenty courtesy of Bubbly Mobile as well as an array of food trucks and bakers. While the normal market hosts nearly 80 vendors, a “mini” market takes place bimonthly at Township Fort Lauderdale. Be on the lookout for Sunnyside Up’s themed pop-ups. (sunnysideupmarket.com)
