OPENINGS Turn Up the HEAT
Move over, Miami: A new rooftop venue in Fort Lauderdale is stealing all the attention. It’s called The Easton, and it’s the spot to be this summer to catch some rays and enjoy an epic pool party. The new 12,000-square-foot pool deck holds court atop the Courtyard Marriot in Flagler Village. Unlike similar venues that charge pricey covers, The Easton is free, with a “come as you are” attitude, says Marina Poupart, Knallhart Management Group’s director of marketing and creative design.
Fort Lauderdale nightlife guru and restaurateur David Cardaci—of Rhythm & Vine and the Wilder fame—is behind the new venture. He says he set out to create a space that complemented both beach and downtown clientele: “The Easton serves as your favorite place to relax on a sun-dripped day or where you feel most alive on the dance floor after the sun has set,” he explains. Enter through a private guest elevator before zipping up to the ninth floor, where snacks and Let’s Flamingle poolside punch abound. A more sophisticated dining menu featuring small plates like lamb lollipops and seared jumbo scallops is available inside the 3,000-square-foot lounge. Aside from weekend “Splash Sessions,” programming ranges from daily “Golden Happy Hour” to “Vino with a View” Wednesdays to “Rooftop Unplugged” Thursdays.
As for the high-energy party vibes South Floridians love so much? The Easton delivers with big-name DJs (Diplo performed in May) in addition to local talent. (theeastonftl.com)
