PROTECTING OUR PLANET

While Fort Lauderdale–based Chris Bal dedicates much of his time working with businesses, brands, and destinations as the CEO of the video production company DNC Media, he says his true passion is ocean conservation. One look at his Instagram page (@ceebz_ gerard) details this, such as a striking eagle ray (left) he captured with a drone during the early morning hours at Fort Lauderdale beach. Another (above) showcases millions of migrating baitfish: “I happened to be at the beach one afternoon flying my drone and found this massive bait ball of fish right off the shore,” shares Bal. “This lone surfer had no idea what was lurking in the water around him, including sharks, large tarpon, and other predatory fish that were there to feed on the baitfish.”

After realizing how conservation groups do not have appropriate funding for content creation that benefits their causes, Bal started selling prints of his work online. He uses 100 percent of the profits to support area conservation groups to better Florida’s waterways and the planet. “I locked in my legacy”

“I needed a partner to help me make the most of my charitable giving – both today and through my will, so I can continue making a difference after I’m gone.

The Community Foundation’s expert team helped me do it by creating three endowed charitable Funds, in my name. Now I can have an impact on my community right away. And when I’m gone, my remaining assets will pour into my endowed Funds to change lives in this community I love.

Now I have peace of mind knowing that the Community Foundation will ‘mind the store’ on my behalf to ensure the organizations and issues I care about are supported forever.

I can’t imagine a smarter, more impactful way to create a brighter future for Broward. It feels good

to BE BOLD!”
