06 • 1939 Reds Good Luck Horseshoe This rare chalkware piece was most likely issued for sale right around World Series time in 1939. Measures approximately 4 x 4 inches and has some chipping to the top left of the horseshoe but it really doesnt detract $250 from the overall appearance all that much. GOOD LUCK!

09 • 1940 World Series Crosley Field Press Pass Very unique item for the advanced Reds collector or someone that's interested in this time period in Reds history. What I like best about it is it witnessed all 4 games played at Crosley including game 7 where the Reds clinched they're only World Title at home. As an added bonus, it is endorsed by Tom Swope on the back. He was a newspaper $225 man and important and influential figure at the time.

10 • Original 1940 Crosley Field Photo Wonderful image depicting fans leaving Crosley following a game during the summer of 1940. This was taken by a fan and printed to 8 x 10. Wouldn't be nice to go back in time and do this?!

13 • Vintage Signed Ed Huesser Snapshot Ed was the National League earned run average champion in 1944 with the Reds and his signature is tough to find due to him passing away at the age of 46 in 1956 due to cancer. Will come with a COA from Sports $100 Gallery. Nice item!

14 • Circa 1950-54 Fred Hutchinson Signed Paper Baseball

These die cut paper baseballs were made my Ken Skinnell in the early 1950's and subsequently used to collect autographs between 1950 and about 1954 at both stadiums and through the mail. Essentially they are all one of a kind! The ball is slightly less than the diameter of a real baseball and remains in excellent condition.

15 • Circa 1950-54 Joe Nuxhall Signed Paper Baseball $65

16 • 1951 Ted Kluszewski Fischers Bread Label One of the more difficult Big Klu items to find is this regional bread label from the early 50s. I have seen a red version and I believe there is possibly a blue as well but this is the only yellow one I've $285 seen. Neato!

17 • Original Mid - 1950s Ted Kluszewski Photo Amazing image picturing the redlegs original muscleman BIG KLU! Photo measures an unsual 8 x 5 inches and is a stunner!

$60

18 • 1955 Cincinnati Redlegs Lineup Card Rare Birdie Tebbetts endorsed lineup card from a July 17th game against the famed 55 Brooklyn Dodgers played at Ebbetts Field in Brooklyn. The Redlegs dropped this particular game 8-5 but Wally Post homered in the loss. Card has a heavy crease through the middle and has begun to separate on one side most likely from being folded and stored in Tebbetts pocket during the game. A unique item!

19 • Bob Henrich Reds Pro Model Bat, Original photo and Card Bob Henrich was one of the Reds first bonus babies and while he never made much of an impact as a player, he is important in that respect alone in Reds history. Offered here is the only pro model and most likely game used bat of his Ive ever seen and it came out of a Cincinnati area estate, so I believe to have been used during his time with the Reds. Which was between 1957-59. Bat shows a good bit of use with some dead wood on the barrel as well as some scoring on the handle. Also included with this lot is an original photo of Henrich and his 58 topps baseball card. $285 A very nice group items!

21 • 1961 Reds Megaphones I believe these were sold at Crosley Field during the 1961 World Series and they make for an excellent display piece in any vintage Reds collection. They stand about 7 inches tall and remain in very good condition despite some light scuffs from useage. Ive found the white version to be rarer than the red.

1972

29 • 1972 Reds Season Pass For some reason when the 70's rolled around you start seeing less of these type passes and this is the first one I've seen from 72 in particular. What makes it even more special is it potentially witnessed the great Roberto Clemente's last major league appearance and JB's famous homer in the 5th and final game of the 1972 NLCS sending the Reds to the World Series! 32 • 1980 Reds Game Used Baseball As far as I know, these little jewels were offered by the Reds for sale between 1975 to about 1983-4 and were only made available from games that the Reds won. This one is no longer housed in its bag but everything including the COA is still present. A neat memento! $65

33 • Pete Rose Hit Watch Photographer Tag You see a lot of tickets from Pete breaking Ty Cobb's record but this is the first of these I've ever seen. Not sure which game it dates to specifically in Pete's chase but still a very nice item for the Rose collector despite the heavy creasing... $85

35 • Circa 1970 Triple Sports Night Poster / Sign featuring Johnny Bench This is the only item I can recall seeing that features three major sports leagues that were in Cincinnati at the same time and this would have only been possible for a five year period between 1968-72. Sign has some toning, creasing and a few dents and dings but would look awesome framed and on display. Especially, if you could add sigatures for all three. Good luck finding another! $525

24

play ball sports memorabilia - Opening Day - 2020

36 • Johnny Bench Paulson Postcard These cards were produced by famed baseball photographer Norman Paulson and this one in particular one rarely comes up for sale. Has a light to moderate crease across the top right of the card but it really doesnt detract from the beauty of the image. If I didn't know better, Id swear this is your friend and mine, Mark Reed in his younger days... $350

5

37 • Unknown Circa 1970 Johnny Bench Card Issue This card is very similar to JB's partridge meats card in size, finish and thickness along with being blank on the back but obviously its missing any type of logo or lettering on the front. None the less, this is the first of it's type I've encountered! Condition is very good to excellent but does has a very slight bend across the top and a very light corner bend bottom right. $555

Sign measures an impressive 18 x 24 inches and features a detachable half circle beer can. Condition remains very good despite some age staining and corner wear. Tough item! $450

61 • Circa 1958 Gus Bell PM10 Pin

Attractive full matchbook from the Reds centennial season of 1969. Would go well with one of the many ashtrays that were produced during this era.

Gus Bell is the grandfather of current Reds manager David Bell and back in the 50s he was one of the better outfielders in the National League. Pin has some rusting front and back but you don't see these offered very often. I found the pair as shown and think they should be kept that way...
