Welcome to Adler Coaching
Professional coaching is an exciting profession that helps individuals and organisations move to excellence by facilitating their learning, developing their potential and guiding effective actions. The Adler Certificate in Professional Coaching is an exceptional coach training programme committed to high quality training. Our faculty of top coaches has drawn on their experiences with coaching and coach training to develop a sound foundation for this fast growing profession, as well as to provide up-to-date hands-on techniques. Because of this, we have taken our place as a leader in the field of coach training. The coach training programme is an exceptional opportunity to integrate tools and techniques for high performance with the core principles of Adlerian philosophy. This is a philosophy which is holistic, has advanced methodologies for building cooperative relations, takes an optimistic view of people's creativity and ability to change, and is concerned about the betterment of the human community. We are delighted to be working in the UK with the Professional Coaching Alliance (PCA) as our partners. I know the Directors personally as they have been involved with the Adler programmes, as students and then trainers, for over 5 years. Professional coaching in the UK has really taken off in the past few years. I am confident that the team at PCA will complement our growing global Adler community, supporting a move to personal and business excellence. Yours truly, LINDA J. PAGE, PH.D. PRESIDENT

Why Choose Adler? At Adler, we respect and maintain close collegial relations with many other coaching schools in North America and coaching organisations globallyWe believe, that a combination of six criteria makes the Adler programme unique: DEPTH: The depth of the Adler programme comes from its connection with theories of human change that have been tested in other contexts for over a century. BREADTH: The breadth of the Adler programme comes from including the broadest spectrum of coaching principles and approaches, this allows Graduates the freedom to explore and practice many specific techniques. They develop the flexibility to modify techniques to fit different situations because, through our programme, they understand the principles underlying specific techniques. APPLIED LEARNING: At Adler we stress experiential, hands-on, applied learning. We believe you must use the skills to own them. From day one of the Foundations course, and throughout the certificate programme, you will coach under the supervision of faculty so that you will DO coaching as well as KNOW coaching. COACH AND BE COACHED: From the outset of the programme participants are expected to coach and be coached, bringing your own real life issues to the learning process. So, in addition to learning how to coach, you engage in a parallel personal learning journey. IN-PERSON CONTACT: Adler’s coursework is mainly face-to-face, supplemented by teleclasses and distance learning .. We feel that nothing can replace personal contact as an aid to learning. Our Practicum is offered both Face to Face and in distance learning format to accommodate different needs. QUALITY OF TRAINERS AND MENTORS: The faculty at Adler is first-rate. We invite you to talk with any one of them to find out for yourself. Contact our staff to set up an appointment.

"If you believe that you can, and you want to help people to bring about change and meaning in their life, Adler will teach you how. They know what they are talking about, and the course is rewarding." "I absolutely love the training at Adler; I chose this school after doing some investigating, to get the best of many approaches...not to mention wonderful connections with fabulous people, and really great personal growth. I was ready for this, but this was the springboard. Coaching people, it's really my passion, and when you're with a [coaching] client it's sheer magic. It was just a fabulous decision for me to take this programme." "This is the best course I have ever taken, in the sense that the process of the course and the space in which it occurred was at least as influential in my learning as the content, which itself was great. The articulateness with which ideas were expounded was enchanting for me, especially on the part of the facilitators, but also that which came from the remarkable participants." "I have over 20 years in management, human resources and executive experience. When I look at coaching, and specifically at the Adler programme, I think it's just a wonderful opportunity to create ways to provide the one-on-one support that people need in today's corporate environment. Coaching provides the perfect way to help people reveal the best of who they are, and clarify for themselves what they want to be. I really think coaching is the way to develop the leaders of tomorrow. It's been just a wonderful programme, and Adler is absolutely the best!" "The design of the course was amazing and so in tune with the ebbs and flows of the students’ energy levels and emotions on different days. With quality instruction such as this, I know I will be successful as a coach!"

Adler and PCA the ideal partners to deliver professional coaching programmes in the UK All of the directors of PCA trained with the Adler School in Toronto- why did we chose Adler over other training schools and University programmes for our own coach training? Undoubtedly a key factor was that all courses are ICF accredited and globally accepted, but it was also the combination of philosophy, academic rigour and practical application in the real world of the Adler approach which influenced us strongly. All of our coach trainers were coaching business and organisation leaders and teams in the real world - from fortune 500 Executives to NASA senior managers – they both taught coaching and practiced what they preached, they brought their real experience in to the classroom and supervisory coaching with the result that we have been lucky enough to be coached and trained by the best in the business! In partnering with Adler to deliver a range of coaching programmes in the UK, we are following the same approach, all of the PCA Directors and Trainers delivering the UK Adler programmes are working coaches, we bring thousands of hours of coaching experience to supplement academic learning and support our students in taking coaching in to their own organisations and businesses. SHARED PHILOSOPHY: we were all trained by Adler, are passionate about coaching as simply the best intervention to help people and businesses develop and grow. FORWARD LOOKING: We continue our professional coaching development , combining this with some of the latest business and leadership thinking to ensure our clients get the best support available. MAINTAINING STANDARDS: Adler has very strong links with academic institutions in Canada and the USA, we are continuing that approach in the UK bilding links with academic institutions and appropriate accrediting bodies. COLLABORATIVE WORKING: We work closely with our colleagues from across the Atlantic and in Continental Europe, sharing training assets and developing international programmes..

Accreditation Although the coach training programme does not count for credit toward a degree, it was designed at the graduate level. That is, it follows generally accepted global accreditation guidelines for master’s level professional education as outlined by Ontario’s Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (2006). In addition to offering depth and breadth of knowledge from the forefront of a discipline, an understanding of how knowledge is generated by research and rigorous scholarly inquiry, an awareness of the limits of one’s own skills and knowledge, and an emphasis on preparation for autonomous practice in a complex environment, a programme demonstrates a master’s level orientation by: Maintaining “close ties with industry or professional organisations.” AILI’s Professional Coach Certificate programme was the first in Canada to be accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF— www.coachfederation.org ), the global leader in promoting quality professional coaching and coach training. Through its association with AGPS, AILI has supported the founding of the Graduate School Alliance for Executive Coaching (www.gsaec.org). Ensuring “the integration into the programme of practical elements.” Our coach training teaches the ICF Core Competencies and uses them as a measure of successful completion of the programme. All faculty are themselves practicing coaches who are able to bring real-world examples into the classroom. Developing and reinforcing “communication and team skills through working in real or simulated occupational or professional environments.” The coaching practicum requires students to apply their knowledge and skills in working with actual coaching clients under the supervision of experienced faculty.
