Gold Coast Region PCA 2021 Awards

The Gold Coast Region Holiday Dinner-Dance was the location for the annual awards presentation for our outstanding members. President Peter Olliviere made the presentations during the event to recognize several of our valued members for their substantial contributions made this past year. DIE PORSCHE KASSETTE is honored to share the official notice of such winners and acknowledge the efforts they put forth towards the betterment of our club, and enjoyment of all involved. There were three major awards: Enthusiast of the Year, Family of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. Additionally, there were five special Presidential Awards for significant contributions made beyond the three annual awards. Please share your congratulations and thanks to these special members when you next see them.

ENTHUSIAST OF THE YEAR

Noemi & Nestor Sanchez – Noemi and Nestor could be found at most every Gold Coast event held in 2021. It was hard to miss them in their sweet Speed Yellow Carrera 911S, with matching seat belts, stitching, and sunglasses. Their participation was second to none, from the Poker Runs, to Cape Escaping, to just being there. We all became “enthused” through their efforts.

FAMILY OF THE YEAR

Dottie & Steve Kidd – We would be hard pressed to find members more active than Dottie and Steve. Both are Past Presidents of GCR and do everything within their power to promote the Region and activity among members. From the Juniors Program (Dottie) to Autocross and Club Historian (Steve), two successful Poker runs (both), charitable giving events (48 Hours & Ronald McDonald House), they are constantly and consistently working to the highest level and encourage member participation in any and every Region event.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Mike Del Pozo – Mike became quite active this year in establishing a “Thirsty Thursday PCA Club Social” at Coral Springs Country Club, and then working to promote the event. He’s also instrumental in developing the very first golf outing for GCR scheduled for this coming May. Mike always has a great big smile, and welcoming attitude; Rookies are like that!

PRESIDENT’S AWARDS – SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Christy Spangler, Ed Blair, Rick Veingrad, Ian Gerada, and Paul Laya – each of these recipients went well beyond their customary 110% effort to provide value to Gold Coast Region and the membership. Christy as Social Chair had huge duties coming out of pandemic restrictions. Ed coordinated a wonderful trip to North Georgia to drive the spectacular roads and enjoy some fall color and has the 2022 (and 2023) scheduled for the next go-around. Rick managed a highly successful “Escape to the Cape” that drew a crowd to the southwest coast of Florida for an amazing weekend. Ian, as Membership Chair, Web and Social Media Chair brought new efforts and enthusiasm to our newest members and region transfers in assisting them with club knowledge and keeping them informed of upcoming events. Paul was simply everywhere, usually acting behind the scenes without fanfare and stepping in as needed to provide assistance to the club and members when and where he could.

All these awardees deserve a hearty congratulations and sincere thanks for their efforts. They provide the spark that drives GCR. They add the inspiration to those around them. They show us all how to be involved with the cars and the people! That’s the PCA way!
