Member Profiles
from Die Porsche Kassette
by Pcagcr
With hopes of sharing information about our many PCA members, DIE KASSETTE is starting a new column this month, featuring one or two member profiles each issue. We hope you enjoy “getting to know” some of your fellow members through this format, and look for them at future club events!
Gold Coast PCA Member: Juan Gonzalez
Juan is a Gold Coast member having joined PCA in 2017. He and wife Elizabeth have been married 30 years, with two grown children, son Adrian (24) living in Cleveland, OH. Adrian recently graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a Masters in Oboe Performance. Their daughter Anna (21) is a student at UF in Gainesville and dances with the Roanoke Ballet. Juan is the Department Chair, International Baccalaureate program at Atlantic High School in Delray Beach. Juan teaches Social & Cultural Anthropology and Philosophy. Elizabeth teaches dance at Wellington Landings Middle School. They are accomplished educators.
Juan owns and drives a 2000 Porsche 911 Cabriolet; a 996 which is 100% stock. Most recent club activity has been to attend the recently resumed Porsche/Pancake events, and the 48 Hours of Porsche club racing back in early February as a volunteer. Additionally, they participate in multiple car shows. They recently acquired a second home in Hayesville, NC and look forward to driving their “black beauty” through the curvy NC mountainous road later this fall.
Juan does a substantial amount of work on his 996, from all the normal maintenance to replacing worn and a few broken parts. Besides working on the 996 Cab, Juan has also taken a few courses in automobile detailing. The study and effort resulted in Juan taking a 2nd place in a recent car detailing competition. His favorite Porsche of all time: 1966 Porsche 911 S.
