Volunteer for PCA
It’s not about the cars, it’s about the volunteers
Are you a member of the Porsche Club of America Gold Coast Region? Are you trying to get more involved but don’t know how? Look no further, because here is some information on how you can participate in many of our PCA events!
PCA events are arranged by members, just like you. They propose the events and get them approved by the board, but they couldn’t host these events by themselves. As the Beatles said, we get by with a little help from our friends. PCA is always looking for volunteers who can help at our events, including before, during, and after. That’s where members, like you, come in.
For example, at the PCA Juniors Picnic in the Park in March, we had volunteers who were integral in arranging the crafts for the kids to work on. We also had members who cooked all the delicious food. The following weekend was the Gimmick Rally at Everglades National Park. That event would not have been possible without the organizers and the many helpers who tallied the scores. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with PCA! You can do things such as helping out during Auto Cross events, helping at PCA Juniors events, and even hosting your own Porsches & Pancakes if there isn’t a breakfast near you. If you want, you can submit an article to the Kassette, or if you attend an event, send in your pics to be used. There are always ways that you can lend a helping hand and become involved. In fact, another way to volunteer is by becoming a Board Member. To do this, you must attend three board meetings within the year and this will allow you to run for the Board.
So, what are you waiting for? As Zig Ziglar, inspiring speaker and author, once said, “You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.” If you want to volunteer for an upcoming event, contact Christy Spangler, Social Committee Chair, by emailing her at socials@goldcoastregion.org. She will get you in touch with the organizer of the event so that we can put your help to good use.
The PCA Gold Coast Region wouldn’t be as great without the amazing members and volunteers. Volunteer today.

IN MEMORIUM
Jack Fuller, a long-time member of the Porsche Club of America Gold Coast Region, passed away on April 14, 2022. Jack joined GCR on August 1, 1966, which placed him among our longest-standing and well-respected members, having been with GCR-PCA for nearly 56 years. Jack frequently drove his 356 with many of our friends, in particular, Lee Wood and Stan Pearlman.
He had a great love for sports cars, especially Porsches, and spent countless hours organizing and participating in events for Ecurie Vitesse Sports Car Club, an Autocross Club in the lower Florida Keys, and Porsche Club of America. He was the driving force behind one of the longest-running events in the history of the Keys, the Bay Bottom Crawl, which ran on Loop Road on Sugarloaf Key each year for 57 years.
Jack and his wife, Bettie Jocelyn (BJ), retired in 2016 and moved to Sebring, Florida. BJ passed away on May 27, 2021. Not long after, Jack’s health declined, and he returned to Key West to be closer to his children. Jack was a long-time Key Wester, as his father passed away when Jack was young, and his mother brought him to Key West in the 1940s.
As recently as 2021, during the 48 Hours at Sebring, Jack came to the autocross course with his golf cart and helped to spread and pick up cones. While Jack might not have been a GCR officer, he was an active and valued member of the Gold Coast Region, and he will be missed.
