the heat of the summer sure doesn't make filming any easier, but it certainly brings out the productions. Production crews have a very physical investment when it comes to working on a show, from setting up the tents to having a place out of the sun for both people AND equipment to hauling heavy things to and from the grip truck. Plus, all that equipment goes back to a precise spot, so they know where it is on the next gig.

Summer does bring out the odd behavior, according to one show filmed in Northwest Florida. The "Florida Man" has become a term of reference to those displaying out-of-the-norm or downright crazy behavior. Oxygen is working on a series based on the variety of Florida men who have made the tabloids. One particular gentleman was arrested wearing a full-blown cat mascot suit in 102-degree weather.

A magazine focusing on upscale homes came to the West End and hired a local photographer to be their first photo assistant. The Simple Life photographed this gorgeous home and provided an insight into what it's like working with superstars and top publications. Speaking of stars, a top Georgia production company filmed scenes for a pilot here on the incredible Island Paradise. In less than 48 hours, they needed 25-30 young adults in swimsuit shape for a scene for a secret project. They say they will be back and were appreciative of all the extras who gave them their time.

Florida made a great impression at the Reelz Show in Los Angeles, which is a trade show to pitch reality-style projects. There are rumblings of a feature film to be filmed in Bay County. We are waiting to hear more on that.

The UK continues to love Bay County for many of their docu-series. Another one was shot in August for five days. Maybe they just love our beaches and seafood!

Roadkill continues the editing process and films a few pick-up shots. We are all anxiously awaiting the release of this major production to be released.

If your home or business is asked to be used as a filming location, please contact the Film Commissioner, Julie Gordon, at (850) 8194694 or email floridafilmoffice@knology.net. They need to provide certain documentation for your protection and theirs.
