Meet Me Downtown

Throughout Panama City there is a vibe that’s part coastal tradition and part contemporary cool. Distinct from the bustle of nearby beaches, this is where a marina district and an eclectic mix of businesses meet to create a welcoming atmosphere and a whole lot of downtown fun. The colorful visuals of nearly a dozen murals and a wide-ranging collection of art and retail venues set the stage. And a variety of downtown restaurants and gathering places combine to offer something special for those looking for a good meal and a good time.

Seafood And A View

From its scenic location on the protected shores of St. Andrews Bay, Panama City has the perfect setting for downtown dining with a view.

Harrison’s Kitchen & Bar is the newest addition to Panama City’s restaurant scene, serving coastal and Southern dishes with beautiful views of the Panama City Marina and St. Andrews Bay. The large full service bar is joined by indoor and patio seating.

Next door, Hotel Indigo has two waterfront dining options. Tarpons, with indoor and veranda seating, overlooks the bay and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Steam on 5 is a rooftop lounge where the dining experience includes curated cocktails and amazing sunset views.

Tasty Escapes

Along Harrison Avenue, diners have a world of cuisine from which to choose and local restaurateurs serve up some tasty global options. The curry and tabbouli are favorites at Trigo San Francisco Style Deli, where west coast culture and international cuisine collide. True Mexican flavors can be found at Maddie’s La Casita and specialties include authentic street tacos, flautas and delicious Mole sauce. House of Henry’s Irish specialties include traditional fare like shepherd’s pie and lamb stew alongside traditional American pub favorites.

Memorable Outings

Bagel Maker, the top morning spot for homemade bagels and breads, is also popular for its lunch sandwiches. Big games are best viewed on the big screens at Lone Star Boil House sports bar while enjoying shrimp, crawfish and more.

To check out even more of what makes downtown Panama City so tasty, both for the body and soul, gather your gang aboard a Panama Pedal Tour. Some have called this multi-passenger, pedal-powered megacycle tour a rolling party machine. And beyond the tour, beyond the food and drinks, there are always plenty of reasons to meet downtown.

The number of excellent dining options combined with a variety of ways to have fun make this historic downtown with the contemporary vibe a refreshing spot to enjoy an evening out or a day with friends. There is always a reason to say, “meet me downtown.”
