We learn while having a great time!
Each student tells a story and the class gets to act it out on the stage.
Costuming is always fun-it’s like dress up!
The poses we make on the stage show content and meaning.
The way we move our bodies and our gestures tell a part of the story.
This is how we show the audience what our character feels.
Eye contact is also necessary
Facial expression is also part of acting.
Learning to relax on stage will help us with our future presentations.
Connecting with the audience is important.
We learn to work together
‌ and cooperate in performances
We practice stage pictures for the audience.
Using different levels makes our stage picture more interesting.
Words only tell part of the story, or facial and body language tell it also.
We learn about other cultures
And about props.
We develop characterizations.
We use our imaginations and creativity.
We explore our different blocking options.
Combining eye contact, gestures, and facial expression is a learned skill for the stage.
In our imagination and on the stage we go to different countries.
We imagine what it is like for children there.
We imagine how it is different than America.
It is a good way to use our critical thinking skills.
When we tell our stories, we use all of these ideas.
We create our own scenic designs.
We share our different ideas.
Different designs and colors work to create the feeling of countries.
Different poses teach us to
create visual interest on the
stage and in film.
When an audience shows up at the shoot, we really ham it up!
We learn to perform sitting and standing.
Even snoozing is a choice for our performances.
It shows great contrast when we change positions!
And we can use our costumes as props!
Taking direction when changing expression and poses keeps an audience interested.
Besides all of this learning, we make lasting memories,
and have a whole lot of fun!!
