ISAIAH 41:10 (NIV)

Is fear knocking on your door?

It comes around all too often and assaults us with overwhelming feelings of panic and desperation—often about things we have no control over. At certain extremely difficult stages of life, it can even seem that there is no way out and no point in hoping for one. Fear puts a terrorizing pressure on us that causes a sinking feeling in the soul.

When fear knocks, we have two possible responses: Flee it or face it. If we try to ignore fear, we risk falling into unhealthy coping mechanisms that temporarily distract us from its pain. This avoidance is not what God wants for us. He wants us to be overcomers through Christ Jesus.

There was a time when fear laid a tight grip on me. I found even the most minor things to be paralyzing. Under such circumstances, dayto-day life can seem unbearable. But during this excruciating season, I found refuge and strength in the Word of God. Isaiah 41:10 gave me the boldness of heart to face and overcome these fears.

Ultimately, the solution to fear is love. Perfect love. God’s love. We learn in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” When God’s love enters your heart, it drives out fear. Friend, you can find in Jesus the strength you need to face your fears!
