The story behind this “Please forgive me, Dad” book: On May 14, 2010 while I was driving the kids home from school and daycare, my daughter got upset with me for singing along to the Wicked Broadway soundtrack. She screamed at me several times before I turned off the radio and chastised her for disrespecting her father. I was upset and told her she was not allowed to watch a movie that night (it was our family movie night). She began to sob and continued to do so for the rest of the drive. Once we got home she sequestered herself in her room and emerged a half-hour later with this staple-bound eight-page book that includes many of the things that have transpired in our lives recently. Then she apologized for screaming at me and asked if she could watch the movie she was dying to see, The Tooth Fairy. Unfortunately, she didn’t get to watch it that night, but I’m sure she will soon. I thought her book and apology were creative and kind. So, I figured I’d preserve it here.
