We received the following e-m ail from artist/author Ned Bustard, the featured speaker at the Justice & Mercy Jr. Artist Show opening on April 12. Dear PCPC, 2014

PCPC JR. ARTISTS SHOW I had to write to thank you for including me in the Justice & Mercy Jr. Art Show. It was suc h a wonderful affair, and I was honored to take part. I grew up in the church and nev er understood how the arts cou ld bring glory to God. I was thrilled to see how well this event introduced young peo ple to this concept. As Pastor Pete told the children (an d the parents and teachers)— beauty is from God and is possibly the best way to reach this generation, which has abandoned goodness and truth. Beauty is still a brid ge between the Church and the world that we can walk across.

I am so delighted at how hospita ble PCPC was through this eve nt. Unlike most events of this kind, it actually reache d out and drew in people from outside the congregation. As church events go, that alon e makes this art show a huge suc cess! And we had to add three rows of extra seating for all the visitors—well, I was am azed. Let me describe how it went. When people arrived, they fou nd the artwork hung in a very professional manner, a pre sentation that honored the you ng artists as artists. Inside Fellowship Hall, there was a very classy (and delicious) spr ead of edibles. The cookies sporting the Justice & Mercy Jr. logo were over the top. I got to speak, and then after the awards, the kids were able to get creative at five work stat ions, including watercolor, beads, tie-dying, and more. I couldn’t imagine how the eve nt could have been better! Thank you, PCPC and Lawan Glasscock, for having the visi on, love, and gumption to pull together an event like this . When I arrived at my church on Sunday, our assistant pastor and his wife, Luke and Terilyn LeDuc, were eager to hear how it went. As former members of PCPC, they weren’t surprised at how generous you r church was to me and to the young artists. Thank you for being a PCA church that is willing to be generous to artists. In Exodus we learn tha t God chose artists like Bezalel to make art “for glory and for beauty.” I am so proud tha t PCPC is investing in Bezalel ’s heirs and raising up the next generation of artists to pra ise Him. Under the Mercy, Ned Bustard
