Welcome to our 21st Annual Bull Sale

After a couple of challenging years in the cow industry due to drought, etc., it’s nice to see moisture and some spark in the cattle prices. We would like to truly thank all of our valued customers, new and old, near and far that have become friends and supported our program over the years.

These bulls are raised in the real world! No primping or pampering! With limited labour and less and less time, these cattle have to work! This pen of bulls, bar none, is one of the best we’ve raised to date. Deep with quality, consistency and functionally sound bulls. There are several standouts in both breeds that deserve your full attention.These bulls are bred to calve easily without sacrificing performance. They will go out and work for you and last. With the financial picture as it is, we have to invest in things that create value and last. There are many ½ and ¾ siblings and a bull for every one, no matter the colour of your cows.

We all know things happen, and in the event of an incident, we will be there for you too! No need for fancy warranties, just integrity. Your cows will get bred!

Bulls have been pictured and videod and DLMS will be there to broadcast the sale online. We invite you to come and evaluate the bulls at the farm prior to the sale, or at the barn. Your calls with any questions are welcome. If you can’t make the sale, No Problem! Give me a call and we will look after your needs. If internet is an issue, just call and you will be looked after in a professional manner. Please join us and be our guests for the 21st Annual Sale. Have a visit, lunch and relax. This will be a live aucton for the yearling bulls, but the two-year olds will sell by video and catalogue picture, so please evaluate them in their pens as they won’t come in the ring.

Welcome to the 21st Annual Diamond W Charolais & Angus Bull Sale. The quality and consistency of the bull pen is again very strong with quality in both breeds. There are bulls that should go into purebred herds with their soundness, calving ease and performance. Orland has been working for decades to achieve this combination of very economically viable traits. The number of repeat and loyal customers across the prairie provinces, and especially in the Swan Valley, really shows the bulls have been working and Walkers are good to work with. Orland knows his cattle very well and if you want to discuss what will work for you, just give him a call.

Dollars for quality, this is as good of buying as you will find on a consistent set of bulls. There are Charolais bulls that would work in a heifer pen to top end performance sires that will give you the extra pounds and dollars at weaning as they have always strived to produce high performance bull. The Angus bulls again will work at any level producing some great British influence females and many will work in your heifer pen, or on the cowherd. The Charolais Angus cross has been and will continue to be the industry standard, down the road. The catalogue is in sire groups so if you are looking for multiple bulls to add consistency to your calf crop, that has been made more convenient for you.

All the bulls were videoed so you can get a preview of them at www.bylivestock.com before you go to the farm or come to the sale. The bulls will be available, for your convenience, for viewing the day before the sale at JTM Livestock.

You are welcome to tour the bulls at the farm at Hudson Bay any time prior to the sale. The sale will be broadcast live on DLMS. ca so if you can’t make it to the sale, you can watch and bid online. Be sure to register early to bid. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. The Program - Our bulls have been rigorously sorted so that you are getting the best. They are selected to work for you – big testicles, good feet, easy fleshing and good hair. We continue to raise and invest in high quality females that can raise superior bulls for the commercial and purebred industry.

Credit Plan - Pay ½ the purchase price on sale day and the remaining balance on June 1 with a post-dated cheque left at time of settlement. Also, we do buy hay! We would be willing to take hay on trade or credit on bulls –call Diamond W for details.

Credit Card Purchase - Mastercard or Visa may be used for your bull purchases. A 4%surcharge will be applied.

Absentee Buying - If you can’t attend sale day, give us a call. We’ll help you find a bull to fit your program.

The Bulls - All bulls are measured and semen tested within 30 days of the sale. This information is freely available to you. All bulls have current weight and their performance information is provided.

No Room - If it is at all possible to take your bull home sale day, we would really appreciate it. If you simply can’t, don’t worry. We can take the yearling bulls home and care for them at no cost until May 1. These bulls must be insured. Two year old bulls will be delivered as soon as possible after the sale.

Delivery - Yes, we can deliver your bull. Delivery is $75, or deduct $50 from the purchase price if you take your bull home sale day.

Diamond W reserves the right to collect semen for in herd use only on any of the sale offering, at the buyer’s convenience and the seller’s expense.

Terms & Conditions

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter

shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.

Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day.

Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
