If you shy away from social media, I have put together some information on the community resources available this winter. Working under the umbrella of Havens Community Hub CIC, we prioritise families, groups and individuals with the highest need and ensure any surplus is not wasted. We are given short shelf-life, mislabelled, wonky or overproduced food/items. Havens Happy Clubs - a social interaction, lonelinessbusting service for older people with creative activities, friendship and reduced social isolation. Haven Community Cars - for those who cannot easily access public transport or other transport providers. Wave Community Bank has launched a new Help Point within Havens Community Hub. It aims to help local residents access financial services and help with managing their money. The drop-in help point is open every Wednesday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Warm spaces: This is a initiative set up by local councils, churches and other volunteer groups. Below is the councils directory, please contact the organisation before you travel to make sure they are running in bad weather. You can find information in the community section for most of these organisations too. Peacehaven Community Supermarket is open on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Kempton House Day Centre. Peacehaven Community Supermarket is a shop where you only pay what you can afford for the foods you like. Community supermarkets provide a long-term, community-led approach to food insecurity, help lessen the need for foodbanks and reduce food waste. There is a community fridge at Denton Island. Monday Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Anyone can help themselves to food for free or contribute their own surplus food.
