Conference Presenters Lise Taylor - Editor of My Child Magazine
Lise Taylor was born in Australia and studied English Literature at Macquarie University, Sydney. She is the publisher, editor and advertising director of My Child, a stylish and informative pregnancy and parenting magazine that she launched in 2006 after the birth of her son, Duncan. Prior to starting the magazine she’d had 12 years of editorial experience, working across titles as diverse as That’s Life!, Elle, Family Circle, CLEO and Australian Cosmetic Surgery Magazine. She did, however, find learning the advertising sales aspect of her role on My Child a greater challenge! Lise is passionate about producing a quality title and has recently celebrated six successful years publishing the magazine. In her spare time (or lack of it!) she enjoys her role of mother, leaving the office at 3pm to pick up her son from school and being “mum” to him each afternoon before working on the magazine again once he’s tucked up in bed at night. She is grateful for the support of her husband, Brian, who manages the IT, website and accounts of the business in addition to running his own IT consultancy. The My Child brand has a strong presence via the print and digital versions of the magazine, its website, blog and enewsletter – and with social media. In addition, My Child has launched the My Child Excellence Awards this year in partnership with the Baby & Kids National Buyers Show. Find out our about My Child at www.mychildmagazine.com.au.
Denise Duffield- Thomas– Lucky Bitch Author I’m a writer, coach and speaker.
I love life, chilling out at the beach, learning new things, making pop-corn and hanging out with my husband Mark. My calling in life is to help women like you design and create a life that makes your heart sing. I’ve always wanted to work for myself, but I kept trying to fit myself into various corporate roles with very little success. My passion has always been for transformation and personal development but I kept that very separate from my career. Once I combined them and become a life coach and speaker, my business took off. I didn’t feel like I had to pretend to be anything I’m not – I can just be me! http://www.deniseduffieldthomas.com
Conference Presenters Nick Bowditch
Nick Bowditch is a Social Futurist. He is also one of Australia’s online success stories.
Basically broke and with his young family expanding quickly, Nick took one of the bravest - and best - decisions of his life and chucked in his city job to start his own travel business, working from home. He built up that business from a customer database of just 4 when he started to more than 22,000 just 3 years later - all without staff, a shop front, and without any mainstream advertising in print, radio or television - instead opting to promote his new business using Social Media Marketing. In the last 3 years, he has now gone from having that one online business to three, his e-books and electronic products have been downloaded thousands of times, and he is now a sought-after keynote speaker, MC for conferences, professional blogger and author. has recently launched his fourth business, Clooee, which specialises in the creation of mobile applications, better customer engagement through mobile marketing and the exciting world of Augmented Reality. www.clooee.com
Simone Cadell Simone Cadell is a mummy of two young boys and the Studio Owner & Principal of Tiny Tutus and two other dance studios. In 2009 while starting maternity leave for the birth of her second child, she decided to turn her 20 years of dance studio experience into a business and not a hobby. Armed with no more than eight hours a week, (a brand new baby) and $5000 credit card, she knew she had a big challenge. The first thing Simone did was give herself a dose of business reality. She went to work on what were her strengths, weaknesses, resources and goals were. In a world where so many micro business “experts were happy to mouth platitudes and encourage half cooked plans, Simone planned her actions based on business realities not hype and hope. She now heads a business with 30 teachers, 800 children and 40 locations. About to launch nationally with a major television campaign, she will challenge you and your thoughts about your business and share her methods for the continuing improvement of her business.
