From the Editor Even though the Holiday season is filled with parties, events, and the extra workload of getting everything done before the end of the year, it is still a time where you can gather friends and family around you to express devotion and gratitude. The Toy Party is one of the highlights of my December because the mere magic of watching those toys pile up fills me with warmth and hope for all the good in this world. Plus, I get the opportunity to see and reconnect with a bunch of friends and acquaintances at the year’s end. I hope I’ll see you there, and that you’ll enjoy this issue which revolves around this Holiday social event of the year.

One benefit of my days being consumed with 12+ hour days of work is there’s very little time to obsess over boys. I do still occupy my time perusing dating apps during my breaks, but I don’t have time to meet up with anyone since, by the time I’m done work and going to the gym, it’s time to go to bed and repeat the cycle. As much as I want to love and to be cuffed, I know that I can’t force it. I have no control over worthy guys entering my life at the right time. So I just have to keep living my life. The guy for me will come when the timing is right, but until then I just need to enjoy my singledom.

I am a bit optimistic and constantly hoping to find a man. December has proven to be my luckiest month for love in the past. I still have my fingers crossed, but I know I must focus on other things. My only somewhat consistent lover has been the Warlock. He’s my big beefy lover, that told me he’s a witch. We did bond over our love of shows like American Horror Story: Apocalypse and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I see why he liked those shows since apparently, he’s dabbled in the occult. I enjoy my times with my Warlock. We do a lot of cuddling, bonding, and it’s not all about sex. It’s kind of like having a boyfriend, just without the commitment or drama. I don’t foresee us going down the boyfriend route, and I don’t think he’s developed feelings for me. So I think we both are just enjoying each other’s company until something else develops.

I have been talking to other guys, but I keep falling for the same guys over and over. Which happen to be social media frauds that are bums. Seems like the more Instagram followers a guy has, the less he has going for him in real life. My ex had 70K followers and had no house, job, phone, car, or bank account. The more followers he has, the more of a bum he is, it seems. I have no desire to take care of a man. I’ve been a spoiled brat my entire life, so I’m used to being the one that is taken care of. So, I’m perplexed why I keep attracting guys that expect to be taken care of. I did discover when I was in a relationship I can turn into a dutiful “wife” type, but I need a man that’s contributing something to the relationship. Life is full of ups and downs, so I’m there to support my partner during his downs. I have no tolerance for these guys that are presenting themselves as one way online, but things are

a completely false representation of the real them. Atlanta may be the capital of the south, but the gay world is super small. The black gay world is even smaller. Everyone knows everyone. We’re all separated by two degrees of separation. If you haven’t hooked up with a guy or know him from online, your friend has. It’s a sad, and terrifying truth, and also probably why the HIV/ STI rates are so high. I’m just going to focus on myself. I want to enjoy having a safe and fulfilling sex life and enjoying singledom until the right man comes along. I’m going to focus on making money, and planning vacations. If I can’t find a man in Atlanta, maybe I’ll find one in another city. Everything I want will eventually come, I just can’t force it.

The Toy Party Changes It Up By Mikkel Hyldebrandt The annual Toy Party by For the Kid in All Of Us is changing it up this year with a new day, a new venue, and new events before, during and after the party. Peach spoke to FTK Board President Lynn Barfield, who is heading the Toy Party celebration one last time before taking on the job as Operations Manager for Atlanta Pride.

are on the receiving end of the accomplishment. I have learned that this Atlanta community can come together and make a difference. We all do it together, and that makes it SO worthwhile. And to be humble – humbleness is an underrated and needed characteristic in this world.

Tell us about the work that For the Kid does

Who will replace you, and what piece of advice would you like to give your successor?

FTK is a nonprofit that partners with other nonprofits and agencies who service underprivileged children in our city and state. We hope to bridge communities and enrich the quality of life for the children in the programs that our beneficiaries so tirelessly manage. Our three programs – Kids to Kamp, Back Pack in the Park, and, of course, the amazing Toy Party help us to help these organizations to collect resources that their budget and manpower may not be able to provide. And we do it because it’s a joy and we know that every backpack and every toy helps to bring happiness to a child.

The Toy Party is changing venue and day this year – tell us about all the new things? We will be at Opera Nightclub this year! We will be going back to a Sunday night that is later in the month, Sunday, December 16th. That way we don’t compete with any football game or many of the corporate parties that happen around town earlier in the month. Plus, in 15 years, it’s time to shake it up! And Toy Party will have a live auction this year, led by local auctioneer and fundraising guru, Dean Crownover! It’s so much fun!

Tell us about what guests can expect – what’s new and what’s familiar? For VIPs, there is the incredible upstairs of the ‘Opera House’ to enjoy exclusively! In addition to the live auction, there will be a few games that people can participate in to have fun while providing needed funds, as well as two DJ, and a live band. And for folks that love it, we will still have a silent auction this year, fabulous food, and lots to drink!

This is your last year as board president of For the Kid – what are some of the important things you have learned through your work? I have learned that the mission of this organization is not about the people on the board, or even the volunteers or how much money is raised. It’s about the people who

12 | 12.12.18

Jeff Mayhew is the president-elect for FTK. My advice to Jeff is to let the community help. Tell them what you need, and they will make it happen. Continue to embrace change as an organization which not only means what you do, but who is on the board, and who is represented on that board – all aspects of diversity in the community need to have a say at the table. We represent a spectrum of children and organizations and the board, volunteers and community partners needs to reflect that spectrum.

What sort of impression do you think you will leave on For the Kid? I hope I leave a good impression. LOL. I will be very honest and say I wasn’t the perfect board president in many ways (no one is!), and I may not have always made decisions that everyone agreed with at times. But agreement is not the factor – it’s the children that we serve. My heart has been in it, and that never lies. And I hope I leave the other board members and volunteers with the feeling that FTK is an organization that they should be proud of being a part of – no other organization does what we do and continue to strive to be the best steward of the community it can be.

Living With Purpose By Jamie Kirk One of the most rewarding experiences I have had was serving as a Board Member of For the Kid in All of Us. I was selected from many applicants to serve during the 2011-2012 term. Unfortunately, I was not able to serve beyond that one-year commitment, but I can absolutely express the passion and dedication from every Board Member, towards the role in the organization.

The most significant learning from my perspective was how the organization was able to carve out their mission statement into “fun” initiatives - like a Beer Busts at Joe’s or Back Pack in the Park. All while serving the overall purpose of recognizing the staggering number of underprivileged children in Atlanta and Georgia. And more importantly, raising awareness that a number of families often struggle during the year. I think we get it wrong when we think that living with purpose means it has to be something that is enormous that touches many lives beyond our own. I think that living with purpose implies that an individual is attempting to live the full width of your life and not just the length of it.

Limiting Surprises By having a plan of attack, sticking to our goals, but being flexible in our approach will limit the number of times we are shocked at the unexpected. Mind you, life is filled with the unexpected, but staying ahead of chaos, having a workable Plan B and proper planning will help detour of from our course.

Living by Your Values and Beliefs

Here are some of the common attributes of people that live with a purpose.

People who live a life of purpose have core beliefs and a solid value system that influence their decision-making process. They place significant value on being a person of high integrity and living an authentic life. In doing so, they live a life with a clear conscience and spend more time listening to their inner voice than being influenced by others.

Doing What You Say You Will Do

People That Live with Purpose Live in The Moment

Actions speak louder than words. Being able to talk it into existence is a way of living by example. When you do what you say you will do, you are seen as trustworthy and credible. People pay attention to what we say, but even closer attention to what they see us do.

When you live in the moment, you are not worried about yesterday or eager for tomorrow. You tend to take life as it comes. Living in the moment basically means that you are no longer disappointed or anxious about the course of your life but accepting it (whatever “it” is) as if you had chosen it. When you live in the moment with purpose, it doesn’t mean you don’t get frustrated, sad or antsy; it just means you don’t stay in that place.

Keeping Like-Minded Company When you are charting out fulfilling your goals and becoming your best self, you surround yourself with people headed in the same direction. Being very intentional about who you associate with, the company we keep represents who we are and often what we believe in.

Waking Up with A To-Do List in Mind When the alarm goes off, it is being able to immediately visualize a mental checklist of things to do in order for you to feel like you have been productive. Being able to determine what matters and what matters most quickly.

14 | 12.12.18

As with most organizations, they have mission statements, creeds, mantras, governance, by-laws, etc., but these purpose-driven initiatives don’t have to stop there. We can also generate these at any point for our own lives. We can be still, listen to our inner voice, respond with a calculated and deliberate plan of action and get our life back on track. That’s another good thing about purpose; you can quickly re-purpose your purpose until you find your passion or your zazazoo (as Carrie Bradshaw would say). So, when I see you at the Toy Party this year, I’m gonna walk up to you and say: “tell me your purpose?”

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

I get very excited about gifting! I like to find presents for the special people in my life that celebrate something in our relationship or ties us together – which sometimes makes up for some odd gifts, but meaningful nonetheless. So, here are a few items that could make a great gift for my loved ones – and maybe yours too?

Editor-in-Chief mikkel@peachatl.com Instagram: @hyldebrandt

This fragrance holds a special place in my heart. I have worn it for over ten years ever since it came out and it is still a favorite. Funny thing is, I don’t get to smell it very often because it is a pure unscented molecule that reacts to your own scent to create a unique fragrance – and I am not even kidding! It is a perfect gift for someone you want to hold closer and breathe in. Escentric Molecules, Molecule 01, $135

These limited-edition pins look great, and they show off your kinkier side too. Just wear it on your hoodie or jacket and let the world know what you’re into! Master of the House Daddy Pin, $25

Local artist Alli Royce Soble’s portfolio spans photography, graphic art, editorial, painting, and portraits. Right now, I’m in love with her acrylics that explores colors and shapes in unique ways. Check out her gallery, and make sure you attend one of her open house art sales! alliroycesoble.com

Nothing says I love you like booze! All kidding aside, this Venezuelan rum is worth gifting to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life. Aged in barrels borrowed from Spanish sherry producers this rum has a wonderfully smooth flavor that is best sipped or used in craft cocktails. Santa Teresa 1796 Solera Aged Rum, $45

With our digital world spinning out of control, it is nice to settle in with a good book for some quiet ‘me time’ – and why not gift that! Personally, I want to get my hands on the new Rock Hudson biography which reveals how the closeted star went to great lengths to cover up and keep the homosexual scandal at bay. “All That Heaven Allows: A Biography of Rock Hudson” by Mark Griffin, $25

An Interview With Singer, Songwriter, and Actor Dennis Quaid By Gregg Shapiro

Is there anything Dennis Quaid can’t do? He can act, and earned himself a Golden Globe Award nomination for playing gay in queer filmmaker Todd Haynes’ 2002 Douglas Sirk homage Far From Heaven. He can do comedy (Breaking Away, Postcards from the Edge) and drama (The Right Stuff, The Big Easy) with equal aplomb. He can look hot as fuck at 64 years old. He can even make selling insurance in TV commercials look effortless and sincere. With Out of the Box (Omnivore), credited to Dennis Quaid & The Sharks, Quaid can confidently add singer/songwriter to his long list of accomplishments.

the way he played. Out of that, I wrote “Good Man, Bad Boy”.

I like the humorous tone of “Peaches No. 9”. What was the inspiration for that song? [Laughs] originally, we were on the road in Texas, opening for ZZ Top. I was looking to write a kind of ZZ Top song. I’m a redneck myself; I’m from Texas. Then it turned into a strange relationship type of song [laughs]. You have the redneck style turned on its head with a woman. I like stories and I thought it made a pretty good story.

Dennis, in terms of your songwriting process for the nine original songs on your debut album Out of the Box, what usually comes first, the lyrics or the melody? The melody usually comes first. It’s actually usually chord changes; intentional messing around. From there I’ll get a phrase. I like for the music to line up with the words emotionally; the whole feeling of it. The phrase is where the song comes from.

Did you take both guitar and piano lessons as a child or are you self-taught? I’m self-taught. I got a guitar when I was 12 and I started learning chords. I listened to music that I love and tried to match it. The first song I learned to play was (The Doors’) “Light My Fire”.

You play rhythm guitar on all of the songs except “Good Man, Bad Boy”, on which you play piano. Were the songs you wrote on the album written on piano or on guitar or a combination? A few of the songs that I play guitar on were actually written on piano or at least began on piano. I learned to play piano when I got the movie Great Balls of Fire (the Jerry Lee Lewis biopic). I had a year to prepare for it. That certainly helped! I continued afterwards. Jerry Lee was one of my teachers, in fact. Another teacher I had was Booker T. Laury, an old, black blues piano player. He was missing a finger on his left hand, but he still had the best left hand that I’d ever seen. He came and lived with me for three months; kind of like my second dad, in a way. He taught me a lot about piano. I play

20 | 12.12.18

One of the things that distinguishes “You’re So Fine” and the title track is the wordplay. How did those songs come to be? “You’re So Fine” I wrote for my girlfriend. I’ve always wanted to write a song for a Pixar movie. That’s the kind of feeling I tried to put into it. I imagined a relationship between a dog and a cat in a tropical setting where, in the end, they’re skipping off into the sunset on a beach [laughs]. That’s what it came out of, but it’s still about my girlfriend. “Out of the Box” comes a little bit out of John Lennon. There’s a line in it attributed to Lennon – “while you’re busy making plans/life is running through your hands”. He said, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. They’re all personal, even if they’re disguised as fiction [laughs] which is what I like to say about music. You disguise it in a way so that it’s maybe more universal to people without being self-indulgent on my part. “Out of the Box” comes out of what I’ve been through the past couple of years. Getting out of my old patterns of thinking and all the stuff that holds me back. All the ways I beat myself up in life. You get out of that and move on; be in the moment.

Earlier you mentioned “Light My Fire” and The Doors are among the artists you cover on Out of the Box, represented by the songs “L.A. Woman” and “Riders on the Storm”. Of all The Doors’ song, why did you choose those two? I guess those are my two favorites of all The Doors’ songs. I really love The Doors and I grew up with their music. We’ve been doing “L.A. Woman” since 2003 as a band. It’s a very

difficult song to do, but we’ve had a lot of practice [laughs]. We started doing “Riders on the Storm” about three years ago. They fit together really well. My voice and Jim’ (Morrison) voice and are kind of the same. We’re both kind of baritones.

How did your band, The Sharks, arrive at its name? We’ve been together since the year 2000. My son is 26 now and he was nine at the time. We were trying to come up with a name during rehearsal at my house. It was my son Jack who said, “How about The Sharks?” We said, “All right.” It’s because it was Shark Week on television [laughs] and he was really into sharks at the time. I like to say, “Thank God he wasn’t into dinosaurs” [laughs].

In the liner notes, you write about your musical heroes, including The Beatles, The Doors, David Bowie, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Buddy Holly and others. Did you ever have a chance to attend a concert by Bowie, Charles or Nelson? I’ve seen David Bowie in concert. I’ve seen Willie Nelson in concert. I’ve played on stage with Willie a few times during the years. I’ve had a lucky life, musically. I’ve gotten to meet many of my heroes and sit around and play with them in the living room. I remember one night [laughs], back in the late eighties, in my iving room was Bob Seger, Chrissie Hynde, and the Talking Heads; just sitting around jamming. David Byrne was there! That’s what my life has been like musically. It’s been such a great ride.

With the release of this album, and now that everyone knows that you can sing, would you ever consider doing a movie musical? Yes, I would actually. Performing on stage is so much like doing theater, really. I could see that.

As an actor, you are a performer who comes across as comfortable doing comedy in movies such as Yours, Mine & Ours In Good Company and Playing For Keeps as you are acting in drama including Far From Heaven, The Big Easy and Traffic. Do you have a preference for one over the other? No, I really don’t. It’s like apples and oranges. It all depends on what the script is, really. When I read a script, it’s the only time I’m going to be an audience member with a first-time experience of it. That’s what guides my decision-making. How do I feel about the story? That’s pretty much it.

You have worked with some amazing actresses over the years, including Julia Roberts, Cher, Ellen Barkin and Julianne Moore. Is there an actress on your wish list that you would like to work with someday? Nope! I think I’ve worked with all of them [big laugh].

Next year, 2019, is the 40th anniversary of the movie Breaking Away, a film that propelled you to the forefront of young actors. In terms of your favorite movies from your career, where does Breaking Away rank? It’s right up there in my pantheon. That movie made things a lot easier for me. I was 24 years old when it came out. All of a sudden, I didn’t have to audition so much anymore. I was getting offered things for the first time.

Out of the Box, the debut album by Dennis Quaid and the Sharks, was released on November 30, 2018.

Sensitive Guys By Gregg Shapiro

Like it or not, we’re living in a new (and angry) world following the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. Straight guys, drunk and sober, are pissed off and, at the time of this writing, preparing to head to polling places to make sure their voices are heard. Of course, women are also preparing to cast votes, as are the members of the LGBTQ community, and we’re just as loud (if not louder). Back when Frank Sinatra sings for Only the Lonely (Capitol/ UMe), newly reissued in a double disc 60th anniversary edition, was first released in 1958, the world was a different place. Nevertheless, Sinatra was unafraid to put his sensitive side on display for all to see and hear. Working again with conductor/ arranger Nelson Riddle, …Only the Lonely was from Sinatra’s celebrated Capitol years (in between Columbia and Reprise), from the 1950s. It’s the album on which you’ll find Sinatra standards such as “One For My Baby (and One More For The Road)” and “Angel Eyes”, as well as “Spring Is Here”, “Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out To Dry”, “Blues In the Night”, “GoodBye” and “What’s New?”. The reissue includes the original mono mix on the first disc and a 2018 stereo “mix from 3 track masters” on the second disc, as well as four takes as bonus tracks. How smooth, soulful and sensitive is Inside Voice (Secretly Canadian), the debut album by Joey Dosik? Just listen to “Grandma Song” (about the singer’s bubbe) to find out. When he sings (and repeats) “I will treat you well” in “Stories”, you believe him. When he offers you his tears and his smile in “Take Mine”, you don’t doubt his sincerity for a moment. More than anything, Dosik is a first-rate purveyor of blue-eyed soul as you can hear on “Don’t Want It To Be Over” (featuring Coco O.), “In Heaven” and the “stadium version” of “Game Winner”. Josh Groban is also someone you might imagine writing and singing a song about his grandmother. Bridges (Reprise) is Groban’s first studio album since his Tony-nominated Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 and he co-wrote more than half of the songs on the album, including the 32 | 12.12.18

gospel-tinged “River”. His cover of “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” is respectable and he has a number of familiar duet partners on the songs “99 Years” (Jennifer Nettles), “Run” (Sarah McLachlan) and “We Will Meet Once Again” (fellow crossover artist Andrea Bocelli). The deluxe edition of Bridges includes two bonus tracks; “You Have No Idea”, co-written by Harry Connick Jr., and a cover of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always A Woman”. It takes a certain level of sensitivity to open your self-titled (on Island Records) with “In My Blood”, a song about coping with social anxiety, but that’s exactly what Shawn Mendes did. While everyone deals with it in their own way, Mendes took a daring step in sharing that part of his life with his fans. The rest of the album, Mendes’ third, has some high points, including the Julia Michaels duet on “Like To Be You”, the snappy funk of “Lost In Japan”, the clubby “Particular Taste” and the heartbreak ballad “Perfectly Wrong”. However, most of the songs tend to blur together. John Hiatt established himself as one of the most sensitive singer/ songwriters during his A&M Records period on songs such as “Have A Little Faith in Me” (from 1987’s Bring The Family) and “Through Your Hands” (from 1990’s Stolen Moments). The Eclipse Sessions (New West), Hiatt’s first studio album in four years, finds him mining some of the sensitivity to great effect on songs such as the gorgeous “Aces Up Your Sleeve”, and “Hide Your Tears” and “Nothing In My Heart”. “All The Way To The River”, “Robber’s Highway and “Poor Imitation of God” are also notable. If you can’t get enough music by sensitive guys, consider Ray LaMontagne’s Part of the Light (RCA), Iron & Wine’s six-song EP Weed Garden (Sub Pop) and Mission Bell (Nettwerk) William Fitzsimmons.

Toys for Thots Atlanta hosts its annual ‘Toy Party’ this month! If you plan on attending, be sure to get the perfect toy. I always bring a sled as my donation since it relates to my troubled childhood of never owning one. When I was a kid, I lived in a small town called Hell, California. I used to live on a farm with my mother and dreamed of owning my own sled. I would paint it red and would enjoy endless hours of going down snow-covered hills. My hometown, however, never got any snow. My sledding fantasies grew after my neighbor, Charles Foster; we’ll leave his last name out for legal reasons, told me of how he owned a sled back in Colorado. I envied him and his sledding. All that slipping and sliding, I liked that grinding! And I longed to own one for myself. But life would not grant me such a wish in my adolescence. Now that I have enough money to buy endless sleds and a slope to ride them in, I find that giving one sled to a child every year is the best tribute to give younger myself. I urge everyone to give a toy they always wanted as a child to the Toy Party this year. And if you’re up for a night of fun, come to my After-Hours ‘Adult Toy Party’. To enter, you have to bring a donation of one adult toy. I’ve compiled a few choices I got from people I trust. My dear friend Eugenia Morganmill has an insatiable appetite for funky female cock rings. This line of fun colors and patterns are sure to brighten any less-fortunate, sexually-active adult. My favorite is the Glow-in-the-Dark Bubblegum in My Tum™. It has a sweet aroma and can be found easily under the sheets. They also carry more discrete designs such as How’s This for a Promotion™ and the classic Casting Couch Cassie™. Those are two of their top-selling models. This next toy I heard about through my Facebook listening in to my conversations. It popped up an ad on my feed after I finished watching A Hole Is Torn. The toy at first appears to be a standard vibrator, but closer inspection shows it holds candy in the shaft. The way it works is, as it vibrates, it leaves small amounts of bite-size candy in you, so when you get eaten out, there’s a sweet treat for your partner. I find the idea marvelous! And you can fill it with the candy of your choice. For a squishier feel, I recommend using gummy bears as the filling. The last item comes close to my heart. I reconnected with my childhood friend Charles Foster not long ago, and he told me he was inventing a new product for the adult toy industry. It’s called the Rosebud 9000™. The item is sled-shaped and comes in five vibrant hues of red. He told me he was inspired by my longing for a sled as a child. The toy itself is meant to be sat on, and while it’s industry-strength motors drive the sled around, small bumps on the surface would pulsate. They can be remote-controlled using its very own phone app! The bumps have attachments, sold separately, that can give the more-advanced rider the pleasure they need. Currently, there are three attachments: Debbie Does a Dozen™, 100 People in a Room™, and the maximum pleasure-giver Never Gonna Be Tight Again™. If you’ll be going to the ‘Toy Party,’ bring a fun and thoughtful gift to satisfy your inner child. And if you’re coming to the after-party and have your own funky adult toy in mind, share it! I love sexy surprises.

Yours playfully,

Me: What are you doing tonight?

Him: Nothing

My neck, my back, get my Netflix and my snacks.

Me: Come over for wine Me: … and bring a hammer!

Him: You mean come to fix something for you and have a glass of wine Yeah, the family holiday party was definitely the wrong occasion to give up alcohol, Cheers!

Me: It’s friend time! And yes, a project too.

Him: …

It’s always fun when you go out of your way to help people, and they are assholes about it.

Note to self. When baking for the Holidays, don’t google creampies. Google cream pie recipes.

I envy people who naturally have an excess of energy – especially on Mondays.

Asking for a friend: does anyone else get road rage walking behind someone slow on the sidewalk?

I convinced our new manager that we’re responsible enough for an open bar at the Christmas party – he better brace himself because I lied!

TAURUS (APR. 20 - MAY 20) Your self-indulgent side may stop by today, so be the perfect host by catering to its (nearly) every whim. Get a massage, eat some chocolate, buy yourself something pretty, go on a date. If you can’t pamper yourself, whom can you pamper?

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUN. 20) Minding your business will be a full time job today as people misuse your keen ability to listen by bombarding you with gossip, innuendo and secrets you’d rather not know. Don’t give in to your inner busybody -- keep it to yourself.

SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 - DEC. 21) It’s a great day to focus on new projects -- creative, domestic and otherwise. Give them your all today, focusing on the minutiae that others would overlook. Your ability to map out the details now will make whatever you take on a success in the future.

CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 - JAN. 19) You tend to get caught up in the humdrum duties of life -- working, house chores, going to the gym. Today, shed your sense of responsibility and dive into the heady world of romance. After all, why spend time organizing your bedroom when you’re bound to mess it up tonight?

CANCER (JUN. 21 - JUL. 22) Your domestic side will step to the fore today as thoughts turn to home and family. Give Mom a call and tell her you miss her apple pie. Or plan to entertain your other family. A dinner party, perhaps? What better way to show off your talents with marzipan!

LEO (JUL. 23 - AUG. 22) Things may appear very black and white today, and your famous stubborn streak may prevent you from seeing the forest for the trees. Drop your headstrong impulses and think outside of the box. You’ll find it’s easier than you think.

AQUARIUS (JAN. 20 - FEB. 18)

VIRGO (AUG. 23 - SEP. 22)

You’re brimming with innovative ideas today, but a perception of being aloof keeps people from taking you seriously. Stick to your guns, but keep your ideas rooted in reality. Remember, some of history’s great ideas sprang from the minds of people others called eccentric, like fellow water bearers Benjamin Franklin, Louis Pasteur and Isaac Asimov.

‘I’m not a perfectionist, I’m picky.’ Right. Don’t be so analytical in your personal dealings today. There’s no such thing as the perfect anything. Understand that and you’ll be surprised at how far you can get.

PISCES (FEB. 19 - MAR. 20)

LIBRA (SEP. 23 - OCT. 22)

Your quest for spiritual peace is evident today, and people will respond to your quiet yet intuitive demeanor. You will touch many people deeply, and not just with your hands. But don’t travel that inner journey alone. A candlelit dinner with someone you feel close to will really bring out your inner beauty.

Sudden problems with others will force you to question once trusted relationships, and you may have trouble telling the bitches from the benign. Turn to the companionship of real friends to help you deal with the frenemies. You know who they are.

ARIES (MAR. 21 - APR. 19)

SCORPIO (OCT. 23 - NOV. 21)

You may be called on to get things started with your crew today, so put your natural leadership abilities to good use. Others will be quick to take your lead, but be careful of how you rally your troops. You’ll have better results by killing them with kindness. Be a leader, not a slave driver.

A power struggle with forces that perceive themselves stronger than you has got your quills up. Avoid the temptation to go on the attack -- that’s what they want. Keep yourself open for compromise, but don’t back down. Standing your ground will tip the outcome in your favor.

WHAT happened was . . . By Mikkel Hyldebrandt

Trouble in the love department? With sex? Or just people in general? Send us your queries, questions, and problems, and you’ll get answers served straight up and with a little ice.

So, I met these guys while out on the town, and they were both really nice, and I hit it off with both of them. They were not together but just roommates, and I ended up going home with one of them after the night ended. The next morning as I am getting ready to leave, the other roommate indicates that he wants to hook up with me too, and I leave thinking that it would be okay since they are just roommates. A few nights later, we meet up and end up having sex, but afterward, he asks me not to mention it to his roommate, which I find a little strange. Long story short, I meet up with the second guy a few more times secretly to have sex while the three of us hang out on other occasions as friends. But now the first roommate has found out about the second roommate and me, and it seems all of our communication has been severed. I was really enjoying their company thinking we could be friends, and I was honestly getting more interested in roommate number two in a more romantic way too. I thought it was all ok, that they were just roommates but now I’m assuming they weren’t? Help me out of this mess.

the first roommate was more interested in you and was hurt when he found out his own friend and roommate was doing you behind his back? Not cute, right? And now it seems like they have severed ties with you to remedy their friendship – or whatever might be going on there. Bottom line to this whole story: You took on too much knowing all too well that you weren’t fair to all parties involved, and you have ended up with nothing. And it’ll probably stay that way.

Sincerely Room-Mating

Just as an FYI – a dick can’t break because there is literally no bone in it. What can break is one of the three tubes that hold the blood and thus the erection – so make sure that hasn’t happened to him. It will clearly look like a collapse on the penis. He can also bruise his penis and getting an erection can be painful for a while, so give it a rest if he needs time to heal. This sounds more like a trust issue than anything, so talk about it, and once you get ready to have sex again, go easy and softer. No need to go straight to Poundtown!

Dear Room-Mating Yeah, that sounds like a royal mess you got yourself into – but I am also calling your bluff on not sensing that other dynamics are at play with the roommates. You left that first morning feeling strange about the arrangement, but you also proceeded to engage with the second roommate knowing perfectly well that you were meeting in secret – now if that doesn’t raise any kind of red flag with you, you clearly have no feelings. The roommate situation is always a delicate one because specific dynamics do form after a while – one of the most common ones is don’t sleep with the same people. Have you considered that 52 | 12.12.18

My boyfriend and I were having wild sex, and he was f**king me really hard. He was about to come, and then his d**k slipped out and hit my perineum – he screamed out in pain, and the sex came to a screeching halt. In fact, we haven’t had sex since, and I feel like he is blaming me for what happened. Totally unfair, right?

Sincerely D**k Taker not Breaker Dear D**k Taker not Breaker
