This issue launches round two of our cover model search! Last year, we asked local guys to submit their photos for the search, and in May, we did a massive photoshoot where we shot around 20 twenty models. Those models have graced the covers of Peach over the past year – on this and the previous issue of Peach just as an example – and we want more!

SALES | DISTRIBUTION

The reactions from the community have been overwhelmingly positive and have cemented our belief that Atlanta is overflowing with attractive men. So, if you think you or someone you know should be on the cover, please get in touch; take a look at pages 12-13 to see how you submit your photo for the cover model search. We’d love to have ya!

Also, check out our tips to taking the perfect selfie and Mitzi Pennington’s salacious advice on how to land yourself on the cover.

All Hail to the Queen Butch

By Mikkel Hyldebrandt

Alfons Dovana beautifully combines his love for fashion and house music with his standout event, Queen Butch, that will bring the house down at the Heretic on February 28. Peach spoke to Alfons about what to expect and how to prepare for the all-and-everyone inclusive, queer party. First, tell us a little about your background and how it lead you to Queen Butch. I’ve been in Atlanta for 10 years now and I’m proud to call it home. I work as a freelance designer and stylist from my home studio in Pittsburgh, Atlanta. I’ve worked in nightlife for 12 years now, so I’m always surrounded by music and get to meet artists from all over the world. When I’m not working, I do enjoy giving back to the community. I’m part of a small nonprofit organization called More to Love, and I also do volunteer work with Joining Hearts. So, fashion and nightlife are two defining factors of Queen Butch. What other traits urged you to create this event? Queen Butch originally started Pride of 2018 as a tea dance. My goal was to create a queer space that embraces diversity and individuality within the gay community through fashion, art, underground house, and disco music. Toxic masculinity runs deep in our gay scene, and QB 10 | follow us @peachatlmag

breaks this construct. The party is really about letting your hair down and having fun with your friends without the pressure of dancing with the hottest person in the room. After years of partying across the globe, I decided to take it upon myself to introduce the types of artists I believe our community would really enjoy. Queen Butch is a unique vibe, and pulling a look is highly recommended! How does a queer house party like Queen Butch fit into the Atlanta scene that is mainly circuit? Queen Butch is a breath of fresh air; it’s the party you didn’t know you needed in your life. Circuit music originally emerged from house music, and let’s not forget that house is queer music. QB stays true to where house music originated from. I think it’s important for Atlanta’s scene to have a variety and not just cater to the circuit genre, it was for this reason I decided to start my own party with a different flavor. Tell us about the DJ lineup for this edition – and what makes them perfect for Queen Butch? Hector Romero is one of NYC’s prime ambassadors of house for 30 years now, bringing his uniquely soulful and rugged house vibe to venues worldwide. He sharpened his skills at Def Mix Records alongside legends like David Morales and the original founding father of house music, Frankie Knuckles. It’s a huge honor to have him debut in Atlanta, and I’m super excited it’s for my 33rd Birthday Bash. What else can we expect at the party? You can always expect décor to fit the theme, lots of fashion, performers, voguers, gogo extraordinaires, fairies, trans beauties, jocks, bears, daddies, fruit flies, and everyone else under the rainbow is welcome. Our first entertainer is IV Fischer, who is a local Atlanta trans goddess; move over Naomi because IV is taking over from now on. Our second entertainer is Havoc Mizrahi from the Legendary House of Mizrahi, who will be voguing the house down boots to the fur. Our third entertainer is Lemon City Day School, who is a queer artist based in Miami, well known for his super camp headpieces made by hand from scratch. What’s your advice on how to dress for the perfect Queen Butch lewk? The theme is “Fetish but make it Fushun.” This is a fun theme, and there are so many different fetishes out there between leather, BDSM, diapers, lingerie, electrostimulation, role play, or even balloons. For example, if you do a gimp, throw on some pearls and a clutch to elevate the look. Whatever you decide to be, have fun with it and be creative. Make it personable and something we haven’t seen before. Anything you’d like to add? Listen to our latest podcast mixed by Hector Romero feat. Alan T at soundcloud.com/ queenbutch. Go to QUEENBUTCHEVENTS.COM to get your tickets for Queen Butch, February 28, 10 pm – 3 am at the Heretic. Use “PEACHMAG” promo code to receive a discount on the first 50 tix only!

Looking for Peach’s

NEXT COVER MODEL Photos by LaRue Caillet / LaRueC.com

Last year, in May, we shot more than 20 models. More than half of them graced the cover, and just about all of them where featured otherwise in the magazine. Now we’re looking for even more cover models for Peach. There is no denying that Atlanta is overflowing with attractive guys – and we want to recognize that by putting them on the cover of our magazine! You don’t have to be a professional model to be considered, so please consider submitting a few photos of yourself along with your name, age, height, and contact info to mikkel@peachatl. com. Like last year, this is not a competition, but simply a non-competitive selection of potential models, and we are looking to represent our community in the best way possible. There is no set time frame as to when we will conduct the photoshoot. We will evaluate your submission based on our editorial discretion, and we will reach out to you if you are chosen to be part of the shoot.

What’s in it for you If you are selected to be a cover model, you get to experience the following:

· · · ·

12 | follow us @peachatlmag

You get the chance to be on the cover of Peach Magazine – or to be featured elsewhere in the magazine. You will participate in a high-end photoshoot (date to be decided) – along with all the other chosen models. You will be featured as Peach of the Week in the issue that has your cover photo (if you haven’t already been Peach of the Week). You may be selected to participate in paid photo shoots for Peach or one of Peach Media’s publications (Fenuxe Magazine, Goliath Magazine). www.peachatl.com

A Few Photo Guidelines Please do not spend any money on professional pictures unless you already have them.

· · · · · ·

All photos should be of you alone All photos should be natural, clear, and in focus. No hats or sunglasses. If you feel comfortable, feel free to send a shirtless photo too. If you do have professional photos, make sure that they are simple, natural, and current. No lewd or indecent photos.

If You Are Selected • We will reach out to you at our discretion. • We will make sure to communicate when the cover photoshoot is, so you can make arrangements to participate. Please note: there is no cash or physical prize – this is not a competition, but simply a selection process and the chance for you to get exposure and experience a fun photoshoot.

Please, submit your photos to mikkel@peachatl.com.

By Darren Floro-Bryant

You do everything right in the gym, you put the work in, and you see the results – and suddenly you feel burned out and unmotivated? Despite the best intentions, our brains can play tricks on us, and we can overhear the signs our bodies are telling us to slow down and approach it from another angle. It may feel like a setback, but handled right, your burnout can lead to renewed motivation. You psyche yourself up for your workouts. You plan out your week, schedule your workouts in your calendar. You eat all of the right foods in the right amounts. You update your training log with all of the most current measurements and totals. Everything has been going great! You’ve been clocking in more hours at the gym than ever before. The results and changes are very noticeable, so you decide to kick it up a level and get even more serious and scientific about it to fine-tune everything. Your focus is your training, and nothing is going to stand between you and your fitness goals. Working out and training is very sciencesupported and mathematical. Some formulas will calculate how many calories you burn during a day, even breaking it down to your activity level. There is scientifically based research that will even show you how to optimize a movement and how it affects your progress. The science of working out and training can take you to the next level and fine-tune all of the work that you are putting into goals. Measurements, calculations, counting, and weighing can sometimes be just as much work as the work you’re doing during your training. It is quite remarkable and can be an extremely valuable tool. Remember, science 14 | follow us @ peachatlmag

doesn’t lie; it is very factual and precise. All of this science is amazing and beneficial, and you utilize it to help you be the best you can be. Then something happens (sometimes you don’t even know what it is) that makes all that drive, determination, and planning fly right out the window when you ‘think’ you want to do more. “Hi, this is your brain talking. You know that workout you had planned for yourself today... well, it’s not going to happen.” How many of us have heard that or something similar from our brains before? Working out or training can be a constant battle between time, motivation, stress, tiredness, illness, pain, etc., and what we know we want to do or what we feel we ‘should’ do. As mentioned earlier, science can even show you how to best perform a movement for optimal efficiency, with the least potential for injury. Science can provide you with the best options to be nutritionally supported. But one thing science can’t prevent, Burnout. Sometimes our brains lose focus, and sometimes things go wrong. It’s what we do after the fact that goes beyond science. It’s how we handle this setback. For some, it is simply a blip in their thought process, and they are right back at it. For some, it makes them take a step back and reevaluate what they are doing and why. And for others, it can completely throw them off track. This is when you have to look within yourself to get yourself back ON track. www.peachatl.com

(Continued) Now don’t get me wrong, science will always be there to support you on your journey, but determination, dedication, motivation, compassion, and fun will be what keeps you there or brings you back. It’s something that you have to find within yourself and believe in yourself no matter what level of fitness you are at or trying to achieve. Sometimes we become so lost in the science of working out that we forget to enjoy the results of our hard work. A few things you may want to try to get you back after burnout are: A New Approach Approach things differently than before. Come back with a new perspective and mindset. For instance, instead of doing it for gains and strength, why not hit the gym to get a great start to the day or alleviate stress? A new perspective can mean new motivation. Modify Slightly modify your existing training, by either scaling back or adding something fun into the mix to break the monotony. For instance, instead of focusing on one body part, do a lighter and faster full-body workout that will make you feel great without compromising what you have already accomplished at the gym. Re-Examine Re-examine your goals and timelines and cut back on the intensity. Listen to your body, and take the time to get back on track, so you don’t potentially burn out even harder or injure yourself. It may take a little longer, but the result will be so much more beneficial to you.

16 | follow us @peachatlmag

I know these all sound easier said than done, but burnout is a result of overdoing it, so be sure to listen to your body... and your brain. Remember, science will ALWAYS be a factor in working out and training, but take time to figure out why you’re working out and listen to your body. Enjoy the journey, and the process and sometimes talk back to your brain when it’s telling you no, but don’t ignore it either. Burnout can come in many forms, just try to be ready for it and know you can always choose a different path back.

Have you found yourself strolling down a runway? Noticing it’s another payday? Then you might have the makings of Peach Magazine’s next cover model! The search for the next cover model is upon us, and rest assured, it’s no simple task. If you think this will be as easy as walking out of closets like you’re walking out of Lenox, you’d be wrong. If you understood the first two song lyric puns, but didn’t catch that last one, you’re not alone. I’m here to give some great advice on getting your face on an issue of Peach, and I’ve brought along some friends to help out.

It probably won’t come as a shock when I say this, but I used to be a supermodel back in the late 80s through the 90s. The golden days of lavish outfits, private yacht parties, and Janice Dickinson-worthy buffets of Columbian powder. Times have changed since those former glory days, but I have met many models with great tips for getting your mug on a magazine. One such model is Dimitria Russianovich. This All-American beauty tells me that her best tip for cover modeling is “be pretty”. She details her reasoning with: shower, brush your teeth, groom your hair, maybe take your clothes off… With Dimitria’s sure-win suggestions, any cover model hopefuls are destined to get it! Another good friend of mine, and body-shaming activist, Kathy Rebecca Honestly, tells me a cover-model hopeful should express their inner beauty. And her best method to bringing out your inner beauty is with a visit to her husband’s cosmetic surgery practice. Honestly Plastic has been the southeast regional leader in fixing the mistakes God forgot since 1999. Kathy recommends to start with the eyes and work your way down as to make it less noticeable you’ve gone under the knife. I’m always up for a good nip-tuck, and I agree with the importance of cosmetic surgery. Like the old saying goes “if you want to make people pick up copies of a magazine, you got to want them to fuck you first”. Even if the magazine is provided at no charge by the generous donors of Atlanta. If grooming a hot bod or paying the large price of beauty don’t interest you, my cousin Vinny Vinseco (not blood-related) offers a free, but extreme, regimen to get you cover model ready! As an up-and-coming goon in the New York Italian mafia, Vinny has been perfecting his patent-pending technique he calls Lounging with the Fishes. It’s similar to swimming with the fishes, but you get to live. The way it works is; you ask to speak with Vinny around midnight on a Tuesday. He’ll be at his usual place so don’t worry about where to find him. Bring a sock of pennies as your “thank you gift”. And, this next part I can’t stress enough, don’t bring a dirty sock. Vinny has class. Once you’re in, his “medical staff” will tie you to a chair and put a snorkeling mask on you. Then you get dunked into a tank of piranhas. The snorkeling mask will slowly pour sleeping gas into you, while the piranhas swim around unbothered by your presence. When you wake up, you’ll be in a brand new, cover model body! I wish the best of luck to everyone who seeks the joys and glamour of being a cover model, and if that last lyric pun is still bothering you, it’s from My Chick’s Bad (Remix) by Ludacris.

Yours in cover modeling,

Mitzi Pennington is the self-proclaimed sex symbol and advice-giving-guru alter ego of Mirza Muftic. She came from humble roots of middle America and married into money shorly after dropping out of college. Her late husband’s fortune allows her to travel the world andhave a sense of enlightenment one normally gets from actually working for their money. Mirza has had none of those experiences in his life. On occasion, Mirza will perform as Mitzi around Atlanta. His other interests/day job include film editing, retouching, and stop-motion animation.

306 PONCE DE LEON AVE NE, ATLANTA, GA 30308

LEO (Jul. 23 - Aug. 22) Do whatever you can to keep the mood lighthearted today -- it will be your job to get friends or colleagues laughing about a slightly upsetting (but, let’s face it, highly comical) situation.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sep. 22) Beauty doesn’t always announce itself with a triumphant flourish -- there is also a quieter sort of beauty that a person must actively seek out. It is all the more rewarding because it requires a bit of effort.

PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20)

LIBRA (Sep. 23 - Oct. 22)

You’ve been waiting patiently for a friend or relative to repay a debt -- the trouble is, she or he has forgotten all about it. Issue a gentle reminder today (don’t be snippy about it -- it was an innocent oversight)

The next couple of days will be exceptionally wonderful for you -- expect to climb to new pinnacles in all areas of your life, from romance to your career.

ARIES (Mar. 21 - Apr. 19)

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)

If you hear a word you don’t know today, don’t guess at its meaning -- get out your dictionary (or go online), and look it up. Unknown (or perhaps foreign) words and phrases are significant today.

Today when you hear people trashing an overexposed celebrity who happens to be someone you adore, don’t stand idly by while your idol is tarnished. Standing up for her or him will earn you a new fan!

TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 20)

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)

If your mind feels sluggish today, you can get it going with a bit of exercise this afternoon -- make time for a good workout or a nice run; then spend some focused time this evening getting this morning’s work done.

Bright colors and bright light will be important to you today -- seek out sunshine, and make choices that bring vibrantly hued things into your life. Expect your day to be full of joy.

GEMINI (May 21 - Jun. 20)

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)

This is a good day for serious emotional conversations -- if you’ve been putting off any potentially painful discussions, you needn’t do so any longer. A family member is anxious to hear from you.

As you plan what you’re going to do today, focus on tasks that you can do solo -- making progress with other people might be difficult now, unless you’re sure you’re willing to let them take the lead.

CANCER (Jun. 21 - Jul. 22)

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)

Someone you share space with -- whether it’s a roommate, the person in the next cubicle or even a pet -- may be feeling some inequity in how you share that space. Make sure you’re considering their needs.

The eyes have it today; be sure to make direct eye contact with everyone you interact with -- even store clerks and bus drivers. You’ll learn something very valuable from a stranger’s gaze.

By Mikkel Hyldebrandt Trouble in the love department? With sex? Or just people in general? Send us your queries, questions, and problems, and you’ll get answers served straight up and with a little ice.

I have a great doctor who is gay, so I can really talk to him about anything. Plus, he is super hot, which is where my dilemma arises. Because I went to him for a physical, and I got very aroused in my state of undress and having him that close to me – and couldn’t help but notice that he was excited too. Nothing happened, but there was a definite sexual tension, and at first, I thought that would be it, but then a couple of days later, he hit me up on one of the apps. We chatted for a while, which confirmed that we had both been very aroused by the situation, and things got kind of hot. Now I’m thinking that I want to hook up with him, but that I shouldn’t because he is a great doctor, and finding a good gay doctor is hard! So, can I sleep with him and keep him as a doctor?

I love the guy that I’m dating, but I prefer him when he’s naked. Yes, he is very sexy that way, but it’s mostly because he has terrible style – or rather no sense of fashion or style whatsoever. I work in the fashion industry, and I pride myself on my excellent taste and stunning wardrobe, and I really want to change up his style a little so we can be seen in public together. The times we have been out at events, I have almost been embarrassed at what he was wearing, and when I bring it up, he gets very defensive and argues that he has style, just not mine. I want him to be classy and cool like me – how do I change him?

Sincerely Let’s Get a Physical

Feeling the need to change someone is not the best premise for a relationship – please be aware of this before anything else. I understand perfectly why your boyfriend gets mad at you for trying to change him, mainly because it pertains to his appearance. You may think that fashion, from your perspective, is what everybody should adhere to. Still, you work in the fashion industry, so have you considered the fact that your fashion sense can be pretty warped compared to everyone else’s? Of course, there is such a thing as dressing appropriately for an event or occasion, but as long as your guy doesn’t show up wearing something completely out of line and he’s otherwise fit to be out in public, how dare you be embarrassed about him? Instead of changing him, you should think about why you feel the need to change him into something that’s more likely your own image. If you really can’t picture yourself with him because of what he is wearing or you don’t want to be seen with him in public, it is pretty evident that you need to make some serious changes.

Dear Let’s Get a Physical First of all, the American Medical Association would deem this behavior unethical because sexual interactions between patient and physician could detract from your treatment goals, and, worst-case, exploit the vulnerability of the patient. So basically, there you have it – you can’t have your doctor and eat him too. In fact, if your doctor is really as great as you say he is, he should terminate your doctor-patient relationship immediately and refer you to someone else. You can emerge from this situation by just acknowledging this as a flirt, but the clearest path would be for you to see each other as sexual or romantic partners and get a new PCP. At this point, that scenario is doable, but anything beyond that, and you have lost your great doctor – but maybe gained a new romantic partner? Question is; is it worth the risk?
